Moving Dallas out of the East?

Dallas, Miami, and Seattle travel the most amount of miles each year.

Neither Miami or Dallas belong in the "east" divisions of their conferences and are only in those divisions because of the traditional rivalries that the league used to rely on to generate interest. Seattle is far away from eevryone so not a lot you can do, plus they are in the "west" division already.

Dallas would make much more sense playing Arizona, Denver, and Las Vegas. The Phoenix and Las Vegas areas have huge Cowboy fan bases, plus I would love to play in two more domes. Denver would be the only annual cold-weather game and that would only be if they played there late season.

Nashville, New Orleans, and yes, Houston would also make sense.

I get the old school rivalries. I just don't think they are necessary any more. Philadelphia and Washington are awful stadiums and environments, and New Jersey is no picnic either, so I would not miss those annual road games at all.
The stadium in Philly is nice, and the fans are not as trashy as they used to be (which ain't saying much), though still bad. The stadium in Washington is the biggest trash pit in the league, but there are talks of massive upgrades/repairs, or even a new stadium. The old school in me still likes outdoor football, and except for us, the NFCE still has that. Plus, it has been said that ad dollars for games in the NY/Philly/Wash area are the most lucrative, especially when NY or Philly plays against us.

Pretty much, however they did win the NFC East in back to back years in 74 and 75. Those were a couple of pretty good teams with Jim Hart at QB Terry Metcalf at RB and Mel Gray at WR. I was following the Cowboys back then and remember those Cardinal teams well.
Those Thanksgiving day games were some nail biters. My grandmother used to have to leave the room because the game always came down to the last 2 minutes. Those were some good football games.

Would only happen over Jerry's dead body ...... Which makes it tempting.

Our record would not be as good if we were not allowed to feast on skins,Giants, and eagles every year.

That would be difficult

I mean you're talking about two AFC teams mixed with two NFC teams so how would they do that with the Cowboys and Cardinals stay in the NFC and just slide over the two AFC teams are vice versa I mean if the Cowboys ended up in the AFC that'd be ridiculous

I just don't know if my mind could handle that this is obviously something that wouldn't happen overnight they would have to no there's maybe two years in advance reorganize almost the entire NFL to do all that that's a major restructure

The AFC and NFC used to demand a presence in similar markets but again, that was before the NFL was the incredibly popular, money-making machine that it is now. CBS and Fox are already exchanding AFC and NFC games so the exclsuive conference broadcast rights are no longer an issue.

I'm not saying they will do it. I am just saying it would be a great move for the Cowboys. If/when I ever make it to the Dallas area permanently, I would not hesitate to travel to Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Denver each year. All quick, warmish, and fun trips. I have no interest at all in ever returning to Washington, Philadelphia, or New Jersey.

People freaked out when Seattle left the AFC West and now no one remembers or cares.

All true.

Not sure if you’re into baseball, but they really screwed things up with the last money grab. The regular season means next to nothing. There’s teams you know are going to make it, and the races are between the awful ones.
I know. The close to .500 teams are battling it out. They have 162 game regular season to let .500 teams make the playoffs? This is why load management is a thing now. You don't need to even be close to the division leader. It's like the phillies last year. They were good enough to get to the WS last year, but based on the regular season, did they earn the chance? I don't think so.

The owners care about money, not so much the integrity of the game. If you're going to allow close to half the league into the playoffs, what's the 162 games for? Solely to make money.

Never gonna happen. Imagine Dallas in a division with New Orleans, Arizona, and Los Angeles. Not even close to the money the Cowboys could produce from the East coast markets. Although Los Angeles would be intriguing.
Or even imagine with Dallas in a division with New Orleans, Atlanta, Tampa Bay ...with Carolina replacing Dallas in the East... just not gonna happen. How do you promote those headbusters? LOL, the testosterone deteriorates.

Who thinks of this crap? 9 divisions? Only a jackass would do that. If you have 36 teams it should be 3 divisions of 6 in each conference. An 18 game season. Play 10 games in the division, 4 outside the division, and 4 outside the conference. This is not hard stuff. It's basic common sense.
Flamma you are making too much sense.
The only thing the NFL see is more money from added playoff teams.

I think the idea is to reduce the long travel distances by putting the Euro teams into their own 4-team division. Probably not ideal to have 9 US teams traveling multiple times across the pond or to have the Euro teams doing the same.

I agree though, any number that really doesn't create an equal number of teams in each conference/division is stupid.

If you think about it, there is no good way to mix Euro and US. teams in one league. Eventually they'd be playing west coast teams.

Maybe they can invest in some supersonic jets for the trip across the pond at least.
