I thought it was gonna be turf. Actually, i am positive. Wish it was gonna be grass though

Only if they've recently changed the plans. All the publications I've seen have stated it's going to be moveable natural grass, like the Cardinals' stadium.

Depends on what you mean by younger. Oftentimes younger officials don't have the temperament to deal with screaming coaches, aggressive players, intense games, and pissed off fans. That's why they washout at the high school level.
We have some older refs that just need replaced. We have all seen them on the field. I don't mean we should put 20somethings out there to be sacrificed. There are ones that just need to retire.

yes it is a risk, but it has been proven for many years that the higher the pick the less of a risk it is. In other words Peterson and Johnson have a much, much higher chance of being a pro bowl player than whomever the cowboys draft at 22 and 30 next year.

The other scenario is give up the first, 2nd, third, fourth and fifth to a team with a lot of holes. Look back in the past and what percentage of late first round players became anything special? It isn't even close when you look at the percentage of top three players that became special. Only teams like Dallas drafting late and with few holes can make a deal work like this and this is the time to do it imo.

There is no single player worth 3-4 very good players.

There is no single player in this draft worth giving up 3-4 very good potential picks. The only time it is ever acceptable to move up more than 3-6 picks in the first round is if you are a crappy franchise in need of a QB or....I can't think of another way.

But Peterson is not so much better than anything we have that he alone will help us win a SuperBowl, and there is not a WR in the world I would give up what it would take for us to get Johnson.

You are taking a huge gamble he will be as good as 'all that', won't get injured, and he puts you over the top.

I don't see any back in this draft worth that kind of gamble.

You'd be mortgaging part of your future just to get the chance you could draft him.

Do you think it within the realm of reasonable possibility Dallas can execute that kind of draft day trade? And would it really be worth it? You love the guy but is a RB going to put us over the top?

Elite players win superbowls. There are few elite players in the league. They are what separate the average teams from the playoff teams. The Brady's, the Mannings, the Smith's, the Lott's, the Staubach's, the Bradshaw's, the Taylor's, the Montana's, the Elway's, the Allen's, the Namath's, the Lewis', the Rice's are what make the good teams elite. Most of the latter were high first round picks and the ones that weren't, most of them like Staubach and Rice had special reasons that they weren't drafted in the top five.

Elite teams are built around elite players and I see two of them this year. Johnson and Peterson and those are two areas Dallas needs. Jones is gone next year and Barber cannot carry the load alone. Glenn and Owens have one maybe two high caliber years left and Crayton scares people less than Barber.

It is risky, I recognize that. But it is rare to be able to move up like that also. Al Davis and Jerruh have a good relationship. It can be done, it just costs picks and some guts. Jerry wants to put his mark on this draft and show that he can work the draft like Johnson and Parcells. I can feel his ego calling out for some recognition.:starspin

Elite players do NOT win SuperBowls. Great teams do.

Great teams are built with a combination of elite players, very good players, solid players and a few role players.

If Elite players won SuperBowls, then Moss, Carter, & Smith would have won one when the Vikings lost one game all season, LT would have one already, and a team with Hasselback and Alexander wouldn't have lost to a team with Roethlisberger and an ancient Bettis.

The only way I would trade up for Peterson is if I were convinced we were one player away from winning the super bowl and that player we needed was Peterson. I'm not convinced.

Better include Russell in there.

And what makes you think Julius is gone next year?

Im sorry man but you are way off. Elite players dont win championships, its all about the team. Football is the ultimate team sport, in no other sport is the success of one person so closely tied to the success of 10 other men. This isnt the NBA where you can ride a superstar to the Finals. No elite player in the league is worth 2 or 3 or 4 good starters. Would you trade Ware, Newman, Carp, and Witten for Peyton Manning? If you would, then your completely oblivious to what football is about. We arent going to trade up to get Peterson, or Johnson or anyone else. We might go up 5 spots or so if a guy like Landry or Nelson is still sitting there at 15 or something like that.

We already have one RB that is hurt all the time why do we want another one that we would have to trade picks to get?

Heck - at least we got one injury free season out of Jones. Did OU ever accomplish that?

i just realized your tinky winky brah. what happened there?

and seeing how RBs generally are less durable as they go on I just see Peterson being a huge gamble that high. i could see NFL teams thinking this as well and it being a mad house in here if he falls out of the top 12.

I lost an av bet to theogt :(. I stated that we wouldn't sign one of the big name free agents (I cited Dielman & Steinbach) and he quoted terms that if we signed Dielman, Steinbach or Davis, we would do the av bet thingy. I agreed, even though at the time I didn't even consider Davis a big free agency. So I was actually wrong on two accounts.

He'd better deliver.

It's a Norman Rockwell painting. I forget the name of it, the humor was just that it is something about a guy speaking up in a crowd for what is right. Just perfectly fit in context with Hos's tirade.
