It's a Norman Rockwell painting. I forget the name of it, the humor was just that it is something about a guy speaking up in a crowd for what is right. Just perfectly fit in context with Hos's tirade.
Tirade? Jobber asked.

I admit, it wasn't as good as Crash Davis' in Bull Durham.

TV Version...

Crash: Well, I believe in the soul, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.

I think posters who do not have the education or knowledge to understand that Norman Rockwell just did not paint pictures, but actually made astute comments on american society should be banned.

I wouldn't suggest giving up more than 2 picks to move up into the top 5, so you're going to have to give a team a couple of great players, plus swap 1st rounders this year, maybe a third this year, and next years 1.

IOW, giving someone in the top 3, Roy Williams/Terrell Owens/swap 1st rounders/ third rounder this year and a 1st next year.

What you'll miss is
1.Roy Williams = Expensive safety who hits hard, but gives up huge plays in the passing game/ can be replaced by a solid SS, not great but solid.
2.Terrell Owens = Outstanding talent, game breaker type talent with a time bomb ticking in his head, and hands of stone.. (replaced by Calvin Johnson):)
3.3rd rounder = With 2 players traded, that leaves 1 starting position opened, and that could be filled with the 2nd rounder.
4.1st rounder next year = I'll gladly give up that pick, if Calvin Johnson becomes a super star player. Plus out of the last 10 years we drafted in the 1st round, we've produced 2 pro bowlers and zero super bowls. Losing your 1st round pick will not kill us, promise. :) BTW, I just chose 2 pretty good players, but it could be Marcus Spears and JJones for all I care. The other team just has to agree.

Fire away, I won't respond. :p:

Judas Priest in concert. What is the fascination with Adrian Peterson on the Cowboys that so many people lose their freaking minds?

I see no way he will be a Cowboy but having said that, I think he's that good Hos.

I think he is the next Tomilinson type back.

Having said that, I've come to terms with the fact that he will be a great player for somebody else. I doubt we ever get opportunity to draft him.

I just don't see how 24 career catches in college puts him in Tomlinson discussions. Can he be a great RB? Absolutely. I don't see him as a Tomlinson type at all.

LT is hands down the best RB in football now. Peterson could be great- but there is NOTHING in his career so far that says he will be as good as LT.

I always find it funny when people say something like this. Right now, LT is not only playing the better than anyone in the league - I think he is playing better than just about any running back in history. If he keeps this up, we will be telling our kids that we witnessed greatness.

As far as Adrian Peterson, I don't even see him as being a Reggie Bush level prospect.

And I'd like to see LT's college stats next to Petersons, if someone could find that. I am looking for it, but I'm not sure where I will find college stats that old.

THanks!

No, its not. Having watched every game LT played at TCU, and almost all (what 25 games?) Adrian played in for OU, LT was a better prospect coming out. And if you think he is the single most talented player in the draft (over Calvin Johnson) then you are insane (no offense) & you obviously went to OU.

These scenarios are a waste of time. If we are gonna move up, hopefully it would only be a couple spots to grab a position that is of far greater need. FS (Nelson)
Yes, on Calvin. If we were ever to move up, it would/should be for CJ, not AP. But it's not going to happen.

From Wikipedia, so, the stats conceivably might be wrong.

LT -:starspin Tomlinson attended college at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, where he started at running back. During his freshman and sophomore years, he split time with Basil Mitchell. In the 1998 season he helped the Horned Frogs win its first bowl game in 41 years against the University of Southern California in the Sun Bowl.[7] During his junior season in 1999, he set an NCAA record for yards in one game with 406 against UTEP. He ended the year with an NCAA-leading 1,850 yards rushing to go along with 18 touchdowns.[8]

In his senior season in 2000, Tomlinson led the NCAA for the second time with 2,158 yards and 22 touchdowns. He won the Doak Walker Award as the nation's best running back, and was a finalist for the Heisman, but came in fourth. He completed his college career with 5,263 rushing yards, ranking sixth in NCAA Division I history.[9]

The school retired his jersey number (5) during halftime of a November 2005 game against UNLV.[10] In December of that year, Tomlinson fulfilled a promise to his mother by earning his degree in communications from TCU.

All I could find for LT

The MVP honor is the first of such by a former TCU athlete. While at TCU, Tomlinson won the Doak Walker Award in 2000 as the nation's top running back and is the Horned Frogs' all-time leading rusher with 5,263 yards. In total, the Waco, Texas, native owns 14 of TCU's 17 rushing records. He also holds the NCAA single-game rushing record with 406 yards on 43 carries against UTEP in 1999.

TCU-Fresno State Postgame Notes

  • LaDainian Tomlinson continued his climb on the NCAA Career Rushing Yards chart. He entered the game 23rd all-time with 4,553 yards. His 231 yards on the day lifted his career total to 4,784 yards, 14th on the all-time list, passing Kevin Faulk, LSU (4,557), Terry Miller, Oklahoma State (4,582), Marshall Faulk, San Diego State (4,589), Thurman Thomas, Oklahoma State (4,595), Ted Brown, North Carolina State (4,602), Marcus Allen, USC (4,682), Denvis Manns, New Mexico State (4,692), Ed Marinaro, Cornell (4,715) and Mike Rozier, Nebraska (4,780).
  • LaDainian Tomlinson is now second on the WAC all-time rushing list with 4,784 yards, passing San Diego State's Marshall Faulk (4,589). He trails only Colorado State's Steve Bartalo (4,813).
  • LaDainian Tomlinson went over the 100-yard mark for the 11th straight regular season game. It was his 19th career 100-yard rushing game, extending his school record. It was his 9th 100-yard rushing game of the season, tying the school record set by Kenneth Davis in 1984.
  • LaDainian Tomlison's 65-yard touchdown run in the third quarter was his longest carry of the season (the 6th longest of his career) and was his 50th career rushing touchdown. He is tied for 10th on the NCAA Career Rushing Touchdowns chart with Nebraska's Mike Rozier, Oklahoma's Billy Sims and Cornell's Ed Marinaro. Tomlinson has scored 300 points in his career.
  • LaDanian Tomlinson's touchdown run was his 18th touchdown of the season, tying the school record, originally set by Jim Swink in 1955 and matched by Tomlinson last season.
  • LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for over 200 yards in a game for the 4th time this season and for the 7th time in his career.
  • LaDainian Tomlinson has now rushed for 1108 yards in TCU's five home games, an average of 221.6 yards per game.

Thanks all!

It looks like LT has about 1100 more yards than Peterson. LT was there a year longer, but he did split time his first two seasons. Also he was never really injured in college.

I'm kinda shocked that Peterson never had a 2k season.

And he wasn't exactly a WR.

In summary - I can't for the life of me see the basis for comparison.

EDIT: Oh, and LT got better thoughout his career, not worse.

I'm sure AP will be a good to great player in the future. Whoever gets him MAY wind up very pleased. But no way in hell we should move up to get him. That's crazy talk.

i think its unfair to try and compare Peterson to Tomlinson, 2 totally different type backs, if i was to compare Peterson it would be to Larry Johnson of the Chiefs, maybe a bigger stronger and surely a faster version. would i want a back like that? in a heartbeat!!! this franchise isnt going to trade from 22nd into the top 10 for Peterson, so its all for not. i can almost guarantee that. but lets get the comparisons right on Peterson.:starspin

I wonder if the same posters who want to get rid of Julius are the same wanting to draft Adrian. chances are...yes.
But yes, we have this every year. At least we don't have any QB concerns to read all of those. :D

I don't compare LTs style to Peterson's by any means. Only in the sense that I believe Peterson will be a franchise type back that you can build an offense around. As far as Peterson's ability to catch the football, I think you have to balance that against who he played with at QB a little bit. If there's a knock, to me, it's his health. I'm not worried about his ability to catch out of the backfield. You look at last year and in 7 games he had 10 catches for an average of 13.6 and a TD. You figure you can double these if you wanted to project out for a season. Honestly, I don't really have to much concern with his ability to catch the football. To me, his health and his pass protection along with run blocking are the concerns I would have. Having said that, those things are desire type skills. If you want to get better at them, you can do it if you put in the effort. If you look at this kid and decide that he has those kinds of qualities, then I don't think you worry so much about him being able to do them at the next level. If you don't see the desire to get better, then he's probably not in your top 10.
