Wow, just Wow.
I was in meetings all day and just now heard this.
It just sucks, no other way to put it.

What do you all think?
Bland moves outside and Lewis in the slot, with Noah/Wright/Israel as backups?
Or keep Bland in the slot and let (hope) someone steps up?
Saw Anthony Brown was released, maybe bring him in for a look at least.
 
This sucks! Next man up tho. Move Daron Bland outside and put Joudan Lewis in the slot and keep it moving. The guys up front will still get home and the secondary’s easier. Though blow tho.

No to Anthony Brown. He won’t turn his head around to track the ball. He would definitely be the weak link in the secondary once again.

Brown just signed with SF, he was released a few days later?

Brown was not released by Dallas if that was what you meant. He was injured and his contract expired.
 
What’s going to happen is our offense is really going to have to show out against big time teams. When we play the Eagles, 49ers, Bills, etc our offense will have more pressure to control the game and score points. If our offense can get into the top ten or top 5 it won’t be a problem. What will be a problem is trying to outscore Hurts without Diggs. Our offense will have to play well in those games because we won’t be able to rely on the defense. We’re going to have to win shoot outs.

Hate to see (hear) it.
Just me or do overall injuries around the league seem on the rise…
 
Turnovers are key for this team and Diggs certainly brought them but I think they can manage. The pass rush is still lethal. Was going to be tough to give both Lewis and Bland playing time anyways. One of them is now outside with Gilmore. AB is probably cursing himself. If he had waited one more week, he wouldn’t be having to pack his bags for California.

Bad timing though after watching Diggs kid get all excited on that Sideline video last week. :thumbdown:

Meant I saw Brown was released by the Niners.
I'd at least bring him in for a look.
He was better than many give him credit for, plus I always had hoped we'd bring in an outside CB and move Brown inside, as I think his style is better suited to the slot when he was here.
He knows the system too.
If Bland outside is an option, Bland/Gilmore outside with Wright/Noah/Isy, then Lewis and Brown in the slot is worth a look IMO.
 
There goes the season. Others will step up to fill that role but there is no replacing Trevon Diggs. Our strength just got weaker.
