Hard to pick just four. I'm not picking anyone I didn't see play or coach, so, sorry Bob Lilly, but you're out.

Tom Landry - You can't think of the Cowboys without Tom Landry. He represents innovation and longevity. The Cowboys were among the first to use computers for scouting, the first to reintroduce the shotgun back into NFL football, etc. Landry represents that legacy.
Roger Staubach - Captain American. Captain Comeback. He established the Cowboys' aura or mystique of winning.
Emmitt Smith - The league's all-time leading rusher and the engine of the 90s dynasty. He represents the franchise's endurance and excellence over the years of its existence.
Michael Irvin - If you had to ask any fan the player that represents the passion of this franchise, most would mention Michael Irvin. He enjoyed playing for the Cowboys and is going to make sure that the Cowboys remain relevant even in bad times. No player loves the Cowboys more than Irvin.

Honorable mention: Larry Allen. It's hard to leave him off. I think he was the most feared among Cowboys players. However, I can't put him on the list because the others had an intangibility factor greater than Allen's. I don't think the Cowboys have ever been considered a feared team even when they were good. We were cocky, brash, etc. But we were always considered more finesse than feared. That's why I left Allen off. He wasn't finesse. I think the others represent the persona of the Cowboys more so.

One correction: Erik Williams was the most feared by opponents...Charles Haley was the most feared by his own teammates.
