No doubt that defense was the main thing but we kept them off the field as well.

Time of Possession is a big deal for the Cowboys and will be even bigger going forward with Weeden.

I love me some time of possession. Some laughers will tell you it isnt important.

It's difficult to tell if he's in decline or just in Philly. Perhaps just some of both?

Anyhow, he got what he wanted -- money. Not really much left to say on that.

I agree 100%.and I'm glad the Cowboys didn't give it to him. I just think both parties would be better off had he taken the 4-5 mil the Cowboys offered.

How would Murray have been better off taking a way lower offer? And it's easy to sit on a PC and say you would leave millions on the table.

I think the thinking on both sides is right and wrong. Murray is not on his downside but needs a very specific offense for him to be effective. He needs north/south running routes. He needs to have a significant running start meaning he does not accelerate very well and he's not a dodger/slasher, he's a punisher. He also catches well out of the back field which is where I thought he would excel with Phili. DC had the perfect game plan, while their guards and tackles pulled, we shot the gaps and not give Murray any room to start. By the time he took the handoff, lanes were sealed off and Sean Lee and CO were wrapping him up.
Lastly, without a passing game, and good line blocking, he was a sitting duck. Personally I think Murray is good but it's the system that makes him much better and he's in the wrong system for sure. If he came back to DC he would be good but not like last year given our circumstances. Our Oline's timing is out of sync and passing game is struggling because of injuries. Some RB's can fit in a lot of systems, Murray can fit in some like...Dallas, Pitts, Wash to think of a few. He's not done, just need the right system.

Best post of the thread. And now due to our injuries I really wish we still had him.

As did Philly yesterday and they got burnt by T. Will.

Just the threat of our run game may be enough to get Weeden some good looks throughout the game.

I've listened to Eagle players all morning on the radio that their gameplan was to stop the run.

Dallas still accomplished what they wanted though and controlled TIME OF POSSESSION.

Exactly. The Eagles have a good front and we did enough damage to ourselves via penalties that we basically chased ourselves out of the possibility of running the ball as much as we wanted to.

Murray got severely PUNKED by Sean "ALL DAY" Lee.

I try to imagine Lee's career if he never had a major injury...
Man.
All I can hope for is for him to string multiple seasons, injury free together.

Then we can etch his story in stone. This man is a True Blue Chip Talent that can rewrite some history, given the chance.

What sideways stuff? Sweeps? The Eagles run the ball more than any team in the NFL. And that is what Kelly wants to do. .

They do? They did run the ball quite a bit, but not more than any team in the NFL. They ranked 4th in rushing attempts in 2013 and 7th in 2014. After two games this season they are near the bottom in rushing attempts. Overall since Chip has joined the NFL the Eagles rank 8th in rushing attempts.

He turned down 6M per year from the Cowboys for 8M per with the Eagles.

He really liked being in Dallas. He was close friends with Romo and Garrett. They were often together at basketball games. Nobody would prefer the city of Philly over Dallas. His chance for success was much better in Dallas.

It was definitey greed over happiness.

He may not be happy career wise but 2mil per year is 2 mil. I'd be sad for a minute. I'm sure he's still friends with Romo and Garrett. They understand the business.

I wonder how much of that $2 million per season he gets to take home. Philly has a city tax that all players have to pay when the play at the Linc. The cost of living is significantly higher in Philadelphia than in Dallas.

He still resides in Texas according to interviews they played yesterday. I'm sure a good financial planner\ advisor makes sure it's worth it.

That is if you believe the team. They had a standing 4/16m offer which was a real lowball offer.

Then OAK and JAX offered big money. DAL didn't budge.

Then PHI came out of nowhere and got Bradford involved even after they verbally committed to RMathews.

PHI's offer was less than OAK but DAL still only went to 4/24m. Still lowballing him. I personally don't believe they even made a real offer.

I don't think they did either, but didn't feel like arguing.

Well, I guess it all depends what makes him happy. He couldn't have known how badly he'd fit in Kelly's offense or how much the OL would suck, especially with all the "Chip the Genius" hype. He's certainly making more money in Philadelphia. Maybe that makes it ok.

Would love one of our photoshop gurus to photoshop a full T-bone steak or perhaps a nice pork shank on the plus side of the LOS with Demarco being TFL.

I know we will need to lock up some players ect coming up....but it wasn't Murray or Dez. We could say it was Murray or Crawford. The AP offensive player of the year who doesn't have a ton of wear on his body yet who rushed for 1845 yards and caught 50 passes. A player who both Romo and Dez were campaigning for us to keep or a middle of the road Defensive Lineman who may never be great?

I like Crawford...I just don't like to see Murray leave and then see a guy who hasn't yet earned 8 million get it while Murray gets shown the door.

Murray wasn't shown the door, he left. We could not afford him, not at the price he wanted. He got his money, but in the long run it will cost him. At the rate things are going, I expect Phillie to give him two years and if he hasn't broke a thousand yards for either year, Hasta La Vista baby! He will find himself one of those guys that gets invited to camps o see if he can still play. Had he taken less money and stayed in Big D, we would be chipping away at his HOF bust.

Poor decision on his part.
