I was in the camp of not paying Murray the $$ and letting him go. I just wish he didn't go to the Eagles!

I think we will end up missing him this year. He would not have put up the same numbers, but his attitude (our own Beast mode) was something fantastic to watch. His ability to block and dish out pushing hits (see Richard Sherman) really set the tone for the offense. I know many of you will say, we have a great line and we do, but the runner also makes a difference.

He has been quoted as saying he feels stronger and faster thanks to the Eagles sports science program. I wonder how it works for ACL's ;)

Thoughts?

It's going to be sad to watch in a way. He'll vastly underperform what he did last year, especially in that offense, and he'll get crucified in that hemorrhoid of a city.

He's a pretty good back who had a great season behind a tremendous offensive line and an elite QB. Nothing more.

are we better with Hardy or would we be better with Murray? I am not diminishing the value of a good RB, but giving a big contract to an aging RB with injury history (all the way back to college) is a mistake. you only get so much money, so how will you invest to build a winner. Plus our biggest issue last year was defense and pass rush at that. in GB we didn't lose because of Murray. we lost because we couldn't rush a one legged QB who marched down the field and converted 3rd down after 3rd down. We beat Detroit, because our pass rush got to them at the end and we made a stop.

am I happy with our RB situation? no. do I think the cupboard is empty? no. do I think cowboys are done looking for a RB? no.

so this is not done yet. so until the season starts, don't assume the RBs we have on the roster is it.

I think he is or soon will be regretting going to Philly. Obviously I'm not an insider but from my vantage point, it's a completely different, less desirable landing place/culture. His NFL family and friends are in Dallas. I wish him all the best, he seems like a stand up guy but in the end, the difference in what he could've gotten from the Cowboys vs Philly, IMHO, will not be worth it to him. I think at the time it was a face saving move that I wish didn't have to happen - but I'm glad Dallas didn't pay him that salary either. On another note, that fumble against GB still resonates in my mind......good luck DeMarco, except on 9/20 and 11/8! :)

All Murray posts should be moved to the news zone. One year wonders no longer on the team should move along.

It won't be moved...you need to understand, if not for Murray the Cowboys would have ended up 3-13. The dude is a legend in the minds of some.

I think he is a very good player and will be a very good player in Philly as well. I agree I don't expect him to get the yards or carries he got this past season. However I watched a guy who has been a hardnosed player since he was at OU and that did not change in Dallas and I don't see it changing in Philly. The guy has a great work ethic and I don't see that changing.

I don't know about 3-13 I will say he played a very big role in the success, anyone who is not blind could see that. This team committed to the run game and Murray and they went 12-4 after 3 years of 8-8 to act as if he did not do anything to help this team win is just plain stupid.

Uhhh...Murray was on those 8-8 teams. How come he did not do it sooner?

It is definitely a situation where the most money is not always the best for the player. He could have been making 6M per with the Cowboys instead of 8M per with the Eagles. His best chance for a great legacy was in Dallas with this OLine and passing game to prevent 8 men in the box to stop the run. He was great friends with Romo and Garrett. Dallas is 1000x better place to live.

I've been in a situation sometimes called the Golden Handcuffs. This is when company is paying you way above your market value but you're miserable being there.

This is really what it boils down to. And anyone who thinks Murray would've duplicated last year's performance had we resigned him is fooling themselves.

I truly believe the Eagles and their fans will regret signing him.

yes he was and as a player he did not get to choose when he would carry the ball, he never determined what his work load would be. When given the chance to run he did at a very good pace avg 5.5 his rookie season 4.1 in 2012, 5.2 in 2013 and a spot on the pro bowl team and then last season. There have been many games over the last few years were Dallas abandoned the run game not by Murray choosing.

So I get it that you are saying it is the coaches fault? The revamped oline has nothing to do with his production?

Well, I guess it's back to 8-8 or worse since Murray left to win that SB he went for. Carry on...
