Do we know how much is guaranteed? If its a decent amount, there's risk incentive for Murray to take a deal in the case he were to be injured. I have no problem with starting low, the organization needs to tighten their belt and sell all the ancillary benefits of playing for the Cowboys & living in Texas

I don't really have a issue with the starting amount, but jeez, not now.

Some folks just don't get it.

Running backs aren't getting big bucks anymore.

Ask Minnesota if they would have paid what they did to Peterson?

Or ask Philly if what they paid Shady was a good investment?

The fact is finding backs that are actually worth the big contract are harder to find than the ones who aren't.

I definitely don't want to pay him the big bucks (7/8 million/year),but this is definitely a low ball offer. I think 5 million a year(maybe 6) would be far more reasonably, for the cowboys and for Murray. He's a great RB, but that doesn't help much when he's not on the field healthy. With that said though, I'd much rather us low ball him then to see Jerry throw him a 4 year deal for 30-36 million.

4/26 this would be a good deal

Damn I at least would have offered 4/ 22 million

And that might be their ceiling so they will have some wiggle room. This is a business negotiation and I'm certain Demarco's people are telling him this is the first shot over the bow. I never saw anyplace that this was a take it or leave it offer.

Let it play out folks.

Running backs are a dime a dozen. Don't overpay. I truly believe randle or Williams could go for 1,000 with this OL combined with the threat of our pass game

It all depends on how much is guarenteed. We all know the annual amount is for the press. Play and agent want to know what's guarenteed especially for Murray who has hx of injuries.

Murray may be carrying the bacon, but he isn't going to do this behind most other OLs. I think the offer will go up, but I don't have an issue with it. He won't have this success elsewhere and should want to stay here above all. $4 million per year is nothing to sneeze at. It's 16 times more than Roger Staubach ever made here for a season and look what he turned his salary into.

Exactly right.

Let him go to Tampa or Oakland and get 3.8 ypc and 4 TD's on the season.

Problem is they already have Romo and Tyron Smith on $100m mega contracts. Dez is up next for a Mega-contract. Witten is one of the highest paid TEs in the league.

It would be awesome if the Cowboys could pay Murray the value he'd se on the open market which is likely in the $7-8m range (there is always some team that overpays) but the Cowboys can't afford it without drastically shortchanging the defense.

So what if they just guaranteed the whole thing? Is it still low ball?

if he wants more they should give him a Sean Lee contract to protect against injuries.

Guys who carry the ball as much as Murray is on pace for AND who play as physical as Murray don't last long.

4 years is the max I think the Cowboys should offer.

Some people just never learn.

You're right...running backs are a dime a dozen. Good running backs aren't.

Murray is a good running back. I think Jerry should wait until Murray proves he can stay healthy for a season before talking contract but he's the starter for a reason and that's because he's better than the other RBs on the roster.

One day, people will buy instant popcorn. You know, as in the instant you open the bag, it's popped. No microwave needed.

4/$16 million is a good start to any negotiation. Now, let's see the figure that Murray and his agent counters with.

Exactly right.

It's a far cry from the 7 year $45 mil that MB3 signed for.

Even if Murray signs for 4 years at $20 mil, that's still not close to what Barber got.

What a moral victory, Mike.

He's still intending to pay age at RB.
