Didn't Dez put together back-to-back 2-touchdown games after joining Roc Nation? And while held without a TD the last two games, he's averaged nearly 80 yards per game in those. And he did it in today's game with Romo attempting one fourth-quarter pass -- yet he still managed eight catches.
I have my concerns about giving Dez -- or anyone, for that matter -- a $14 million-per-year contract. I think it's hard for any non-quarterback to live up to that kind of money. You've seen it with Tyron Smith this year. You get that contract as a left tackle and fans expect you to never give up a sack for the rest of your career. Every folly is met with, "What's wrong with Tyron?"
You're absolutely right on DeMarco being the heartbeat of this team. In my opinion, the 2014 Cowboys are at their best somewhat emulating the mid-90s version of the Cowboys. Pass the ball 28 times, run the ball 25 times one week; throw it 26 times and run it 29 times the next. Somewhere in that neighborhood is when we're most dangerous.
Murray is a fantastic player. He's a good option in the passing game, he's good at picking up blitzes and he's obviously good at carrying the rock. Yeah, Peterson is the better player, and Charles is too, probably. But Murray is undeniably a premier back in this league in his own right.
