I love this one too

"I hope your team doesn't think like you do"

yeah, we're teleporting our thoughts to the players on our team

"We just have to go out there and play like we're capable of."
"It's a team game."

He's got a lot of upside!

Young player who flashes during a game never to be seen again.

Also young vet (max 5 years) who's on his fifth team in two years and known for exceptional special team skills.

The one I hate the most is "The receiver caught the ball at its highest point."

No, the ball's highest point was about halfway between the QB and the receiver. What you menat to say was that the receiver timed his jump so that he caught the ball at the highest point of his jump, not the ball's highest point.

"Irregardless" - I hate that word.
It isn't a word. It is considered a non standard use of the word and the definition is "regardless." If it was a word you could tell me when to use one, and when to use the other.

Regardless of the outcome.....

Irregardless of the outcome....

I'm both pleased and insulted no one has said "pedigree" or "agenda."

Actually, the only ones I seem to hate are two by Berman.

"The Raiduuuuuuuuuuuuuuhs!"

I swear it sounds like he is trying to throw up and talk.

And...

"The Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Men."

As in gee will you shut your festering gob.

Warrior/Soldier..any reference to the game being a war.
It's a game and these sayings diminsh anything real soldiers do for their country.
it's a game modeled after war. think of some of the words used in pro football. "draft" "blitz" "front lines" "bullet pass" "throw the bomb"

It's not modeled after war, people have just used war terms to describe the game. Also, draft had a meaning before it was used in war terms, with the core meaning being " the act of drawing", as in drawing candidates from the citizens for the army.

If football were really modeled after war, there wouldn't be near so many rules. I'd think mixed martial arts is probably the closest "commercial" game we have to being modeled after war.

I hate those post game interviews by the sideline reporters...

"Tell me what this win means to your team?"

...or something equally stupid and predictable...

I have always wanted one of the athletes or coaches to turn the tables back on the interviewer.

"Use your imagination and think what this must mean to us."

I mean, do you really even need to ask?

"Someone needs to step up and make a play"--Yeah, no duh genius! That is true of just about every game ever played.

"They are still the champions until someone beats them." One of Madden's all time favorites.
