My case for Ted Ginn, Jr.

I'm all for Ginn, he's one of my favourite guys in the draft. He's anything but a sure thing though, so I understand everyone's reservations

He fits in perfect on our team though. We have our starters. Ginn won't be pressured to take on a big role until 2 years down the line. This year, he can come in and do what he does best--run deep and KR/PR--while learning from a couple of smart, wily veterans (and a pretty good receivers coach as well). Ginn would make an immediate impact, unlike the other receivers. Bowe, Jarrett, and to a lesser extent, Meachem, wouldn't have a set role. Moreover, these WRs may be better bets in the short term, but not one of them has Ginn's potential.

Ginn is the fastest football player I've ever seen. He'd have a role on the team, in the short run, and a potential to be a #1 receiver in the long run (the other guys seem like #2s to me). We're not getting sure things at 22. Ginn is worth the risk.

we saw how well Skylar Green's return skills translated to the NFL... I wouldn't use being a return specialist as a reason to draft someone early... Every team is looking for the next Hester, but I doubt we see another player like that in the league for awhile...

Listen why not take a chance, where are all those draft Carpenter guys, stand up and show us any highlight from last year and getting BP some water doesn't count. Listen this guy could be a bust but he has such a fantastic potential and our window is closing don't you take a shot, he's one of a kind, and he won't make #22. The folks that say don't do it, I'll show you somebody will before #22 just watch. Scouts see it, he's got" it "short, small or otherwise. UT could not cover this guy, they had an NFL secondary last year, he's big league just wait..

That would be more impressive if you could show us your credentials as an NFL talent evaluator... LOL...

UT's secondary sucked last year... which is precisely why I can't understand why Aaron Ross, Michael Griffin et al are such hot properties in this draft... Ross won the Thorpe Award, yet he gave up 50 plus catches, for over 700 yards...

Finally, if Ginn really WAS "one of a kind", he'd be a top 10 pick, perhaps a top 5...

Skyler Green was fat and slow. Completely different player.

Ginn and Glenn spread wide, T.O. and Witten in the slot. I don't know many tams that could match up well with that.

Green wasn't as fast or fluid as Ginn.

Not meaning this cocky but you need to watch Yamon Figurs. He is the fastest football player I have seen.

You can replace Ginn with a true WR that has great speed, better ball skill and runs better routes and say the same thing.

I have no problem with Ginn as an athlete but if your looking to draft a WR there are better options.

Where have you been? He is not a top 10 pick because he hurt his foot in the National Championship game, when his teammates jumped on him celebrating a KICKOFF RETURN FOR A TOUCHDOWN! lol! He has not been able to work out for anyone at 100%. That's why!

At #22 you're not going to get a guaranteed #1 WR. Heck, history shows you can get a #1 in any round (Chad Johnson, Anquan Boldin, Marques Colston, and Steve Smith to name a few). What the Cowboys need is someone who has the potential to make an immediate impact in some way. Does anyone expect any WR or CB to start? Probably not. There is really no open slot (unless an injury happens) where a rookie is going to step up. Except as a returner. There has been a HUGE hole on this team for a while. Mr. Ginn solves that problem. Plus....he gets to learn from Mr. Glenn for a year or so to develop the rest of his receiving skills. And his receiving skills are not bad at all. People mention Gonzalez, but then they fail to mention he will probably get drafted in the 2nd round himself (possible first rounder). So its not like you're comparing a bum to Ginn.

I for one have a group of players I would love to see the Cowboys select in the first round. Those guys are Ginn (thanks for the video), Jarrett, Merriweather, Nelson, and I'd give every last pick to move up for Adrian Peterson. lol!

I don't think there's another player at 22 that would have a bigger impact on the team right now, long term who knows. What I liked from those clips is his attitude when he scores, wasn't it Howard who struck the pose after one of his TD's? This kid looks to me to be all about getting better, i think that was a big diff. between Howard and S.Smith, one thought he had arrived, the other had a chip on his shoulder and worked hard on getting better.

Race cars go fast. They carry very little excess wt. The lighter the faster. Lean on one and you buckle the sheet metal. Crash it at speed and pieces fly off.

I'm still bothered that Ginn hasn't fully recovered from his ankle injury.

It's been what? three? four months?

I can't believe people are comparing his 6-1 175 pound frame to Steve Smith's and Santana Moss'.

Moss and Smith are both about 5-10 and weigh around 185-190 pounds. They're more muscular and stocky.

Ginn is a lot skinnier.

I like Ginn, and wouldn't mind if we drafted him.....but there's still a lot of "bust" characteristics about him.

Ginn sucks.

He can't run routes. And Will never learn how...No matter how much he's coached.

He drops just about every ball thrown to him.

He's a pansy that will never go over the middle...And if he does Parts will fly off when he's hit.

He has some speed...But there are many faster.

He has no wiggle or lateral movement which means he'll never be much of a return man.

And when teammates jump on his ankle after he runs back a kickoff for a TD...He becomes injury prone.

The Rams will snag him at 13 if their love affair reports are true, however if he falls to 22 I think he'd be too sexy of a pick for JJ to pass on. Even if Jarrett, Meachum, or Bowe is still on the board.

I actually think a Ginn pick will be moot because he won't be there by 22. We'll see.

I so hope. Then there can be no criticism for picking him nor vice versa. There are others with that kind of speed.
