My Cowboys stock report after tonight

Shelton was drafted to be a future OT. Just like Guyton. You build for the future with the draft. He wasn't drafted with the idea in mind he would be playing a lot this year. He has show he can play. He did in college also. Give him a year to learn the NFL and spend quality time in the weight room. We will see a different player next summer.

Right there would have to be a rash of injuries for him to make an active game day roster most likely they need a veteran swing tackle that's what they need the rest of it we've already talked to death no we're not going to find a new right tackle and if if Guyton pulls Milton reverts back to some of his bad habits it is what it is you just need a guy who can come in and settle things down that would be a veteran swing tackle I don't know who it is but I'm sure there's going to be a few available cut downs usually are releasing a lot of players and then some guys are going to be deep these teams are going to want to trade you can give up a 5th round pick for a good tackle probably someone that can settle things down , IF needed..

So that's my take Gonna roll with those two dudes as starters because they did last year they're gonna roll protections it's gonna look different They're going to have schemes and chipping and doubles this is vanilla what we've been saying you're going to see a lot what you saw last year and they're hoping Adams fixed a few of these problems and then we're gonna just roll with the season i'm still worried about the defense's special teams it is not proven that it's repaired it probably is is improved but how much that is still the giant? Here not the offense..


Like many many many years in the last couple of decades the offense is not gonna be the problem it will have its flaws and its ups and downs but it is our strength and it has been for a very long time...

Which is why you keep one of him or Thomas to hopefully develop but you go out and get someone that can actually play if needed right now.

Yeah, my expectations were creeping up after last week. This was a bit of a reality check with the rookie that maybe he needs to be integrated slowly. I don't think the Saints kept it completely vanilla, with a couple of wide receiver handoffs, but during the regular season, teams will give their full offensive complexity and that's a lot to digest for a rookie. Fortunately, if he's out there, he won't be out there with a bunch of other rookies but primarily with veterans (except for fellow rookie Downs).

They were gashing the DTs. The LBs were making plays as soon as the RBs got to the 2nd level.

What is he supposed to do to stop this? He made the plays that he should have. I guess I really don't understand what you're trying to say.

I agree that the DTs struggled, but he also was late getting to some plays. That's on him. The linebackers also did not make a lot of plays in the underneath passing game.

Lol, he hasn’t been playing OT, he has only played at G in games.

Sadly, based on our OT play, he still might be the best backup OT even though he's only played guard.

I actually come away more positive about the Cowboys than negative. The biggest reason is that the players Dallas needs to evaluate gave them meaningful information.

Do we think Scantling made the team? He has always been on the depth chart as Pickens back up but noticed he was out there late in that game which makes me think he is on the bubble or most likely cut.

Agreed. Keegan looked pretty good at both Right Tackle and Center. Looked better at Center than any other backup Center we currently have. I would definitely keep him.

Rodriguez played all game. Started at Right Guard. Finished 4th quarter at Right Tackle. Absolutely sucks big time. Whiffed on several plays. Struggled most of the night at both positions. Hurt the offense many times all game long. I would rather keep Navajo Shiyazh Pete, even though he made 2 mistakes since he is hardly played, since he mostly played okay and showed potential to improve and grow. Whether this means Pete makes the 53 or is cut but passes waivers and is placed on our Practice Squad would be fine for his rookie year. But Rodriguez has to go.

Interesting on Keegan. I know nothing about him and haven’t caught the game yet. I will later today. I assume he is an UDFA.

Still want a vet swing tackle though.

Mafah looked good when he had blocking and made something out of nothing when he didnt.

Milton had a bad night while Howell had a good night. You'd think this blurs who gets the QB2 job but the law of averages explains why Milton won't always look great and Howell can have a better performance than he's been having this preseason; they are both solid qualified QBs for that job. Last night, in the pregame show they were saying Milton has a higher ceiling, while Howell has a higher floor. I wouldn't cut either one but I go with the higher ceiling for my QB2.

I would have Howell as the two with Miltie as the emergency (another dumb roster restriction) on game day.

If we need someone to come in mid game, I’d want that to be Howell. If Dak is out for an extended period, I’d probably go with Miltie as the one.

So, in effect, Milton is the backup starter, but not the number two.

Honestly if Dak goes down I wouldn’t mind a mix of the two. That could be challenging for an opponent to prepare for, but that’ll never happen. Hopefully it doesn’t.

It’s so obvious that something needs to be done that I can’t see how they don’t.

The coaches need to fess up here and not be telling Jerry and kid what they want to hear, but the reality of it….that they weren’t able to work miracles with these backup types.

He will be fine. Those first two plays were a bit rough though. He has plenty to learn and why he won’t be a “starter” to begin with, but he will eventually earn more snaps.

I’m just happy that our backup LBs are no longer UDFA safeties.

I think there might be a few reasons. First, both Keegan and Leverett have played well and showed some flexibility to play center, while Cornelius has only played guard this preseason. Second, Cornelius didn't play in this last game because of injury, I believe, so out of sight and out of mind. Third, Cornelius was a late-round pick (sixth-rounder), so there's not as much invested in him and he's not as likely to have teams wanting to take a look at him because he was higher on their boards. (If he had been a fourth-rounder like Shelton, he'd probably be getting the same consideration as Shelton.)
