Some of the Brewster reactions remind me of when we took Hatcher. At first everyone wondered who the hell this mammoth reach was, then we learned that several teams liked him and that we took him in about the right spot.

I thought he was a reach, but I liked him as a player... I'm not surprised to learn that other teams had him rated higher than the online draft gurus did...

Consider the 4 offensive linemen the Boys are looking at to upgrade their depth this offseason (I'm not counting Turkovich, smallish and slow is not my profile for a successful NFL offensive lineman)... I'll throw in their addition late last preseason too, see if you can determine a pattern:

Robert Brewster, OG/OT, Ball State... 6-4, 325 pounds, 5.3 second 40...

Montrae Holland, OG, Florida State... 6-2, 325 pounds, 5.3 second 40...

Greg Isdaner, OG, West Virginia... 6-4, 325 pounds, 5.3 second 40...

Travis Bright, OG/OT, BYU... 6-4, 320 pounds, 5.25 second 40...

Matt Spanos, C/OG, USC... 6-5, 310 pounds, 5.3 second 40...

Looks to me like the Boys are moving inexorably toward a big, physical line... 4 of these 5 are 320 pounds or bigger... Spanos is on the big side for a center, too... but none of them are big stiffs, all of them run the 40 in 5.3 seconds or better...

nfldraft scout had him going in the 5th and said he was rate 15th at his position and 154 overall.

I like NFL Draft Scout, it's my favorite draft website... but they're not the oracle, they got a lot of projections wrong... just like all of them do...

keeping ****ty players on our roster is the reason why we will go 5-11. Not get rid of the crap on our roster is why we will go 5-11.

God almighty, but that's an intellectual argument!!!

You don't even know yet who will be on the 53 man roster, but you're ready to declare we're not gonna get rid of "the crap"...

Never mind that we already have... the Cowboys had plenty of talent to win it all last year, there simply wasn't all that much "crap" on the roster... what happened was they never came together as a TEAM... so the "crap" that needed to be flushed was those players who were making it impossible to play as a team...

PacMan, gone; Tank, gone; Terrell, gone... that was the "crap"...

Stupid is as stupid does, Gump...

This is true but he didn't become a billionaire by being a GM.

Actually, he did... he bought the Boys for around 150 mil or a little more, and it took just about every asset he had to do so... he's only a billionaire today because the Boys' value skyrocketed...

Do you EVER know what the bleep you're talking about??

I don't care about losing pacman even though he was starting for us and what not. But losing TO is huge. I really don't think that the problems with the team will be solved by cutting TO.

We all know that every one of your rants these days is because we actually DID get rid of the "crap", and you're pissed about it...

The "crap" of course, was the object of your unnatural lust, one Terrell Eldorado Owens... and he's been flushed...

I just wish you'd go follow him... surely the Bills boards could use your intellectual analysis of the game...

If you were ranking the teams in the NFC East, where would the Cowboys be?

An argument can be made for 4th, if you say higher than 3rd you're delusional.

Anybody who tries to rate teams in late April is the one who's really delusional... your ratings are based on your opinion that the standings last year reflected the talent on each team, while some of us realize that the talent on this team was probably the best in the division, it simply underachieved, largely because of locker room dynamics that have since been addressed...

What the Boys did early this offseason was a classic example of addition by subtraction... at the same time, they covered themselves for every loss except TO-- Olshansky replaces Canty, with no dropoff; Brooking replaces Thomas, and is probably a bit of an upgrade; Sensabaugh replaces Roy, and is a clear upgrade over what Roy gave us the last coupla years; Kitna replaces Johnson, and is a significant upgrade...

So, other than losing TO (which is exactly what I mean by addition by subtraction), the Boys have filled the holes left by every free agent loss they suffered, and in most cases upgraded...

Then in the draft, they aggressively upgraded the depth at LB and DB... both units should be much better able to adapt if the injury bug bites... they also helped their special teams significantly... and they added a nice QB to groom for the future...

Yeah, I can certainly see how an "expert" like DaBoys could survey the offseason moves made by this 9-7 team, and conclude that they've gotten worse... and not just worse, four freakin' games worse...

Only a profoundly braindead moron would seriously project the Boys to finish 5-11, based on the offseason they had...

Not one of them would have started for the Cowboys this year...

Thanks for proving our point, that you're clueless...

All credibility in your post gone, right there.

If his "logic" has any validity, then it logically follows that any player named Smith is destined for greatness, because Emmitt was great...

Same with any player named Rice, or Payton...

I think I've figured out DaBoys' draft philosophy-- look for the best NAMES...

Just in case you did not notice, the other NFCbeast teams did not remain static and by face value all significantly upgraded. Do we need to roll that last game again to get you grounded? I am sure it was TO fault just not readily apparent how he caused so much havoc and poor tackling. TO was a talent that we could never channel correctly so lets move on like the people did who drafted Ryan Leaf vs Manning or the Boz, just let it go. I liked this draft but it did not immediately improve us except on special teams and that is a good thing, if we keep this draft philosophy going we can concentrate on another area next year until the talent starts to mature and produce. Who knows every once in a while we may have a number 1 pick to dream around. God it hurts to think about that last eagles game....

Ah, the old "face value" litmus test.

Yes, that's a good one. It ranks right up there with "the smell test."

The upgrades I see do not qualify as "significant", in my estimation... this is particularly true for the Iggles and the Skins, not as much for the Giants...

Do we need to roll that last game again to get you grounded?

All you'll be showing me is a talented team that had quit... they had quit because they were never a team in the true sense of the word... most of the reasons for that are now gone...

The Cowboys' talent matches up with any team in the NFC East...

God it hurts to think about that last eagles game....

Maybe it's time for you to put it away...

You really think they have been addressed? They got rid of two big mouths (Tank, TO) & one Pacman ( I don't know what to call him). Is that enough to correct the team that took the field in that game vs. the weabbles? You can say what you want about TO, but I don't think he made the others quit.

I agree with this....but in the NFC East, I'm not ready to declare 10-6 either. The Cowboys need some of this draft class to turn out well on special teams at a minimum. We also need Roy Williams to turn out well but that goes without saying. We will be having the same discussion at the end of training camp, IMO.

While I think some of those positions will be manned by even better players that I am not listing here, I look at that and there is no way, even with a fragile psychy like the one the team displayed late last year, that this team goes 5-11. This team is better than 9-7 and Ill give my full prediction far closer to the regular season. Sometime Cowboy fans make me wonder if they all live in a psycho ward with the crap they spew!

When we finish WAY better than 5-11 im gonna be the first one to call you out, if you hate the boys and their front office so much, go route for some other team, I hear Philly needs some more baby fans.

Well, I read this whole thread, and although I'm not really into how players are ranked, or even who they really are except for a few, I love coming to this board to learn about the Cowboys.

However, saying that, after reading DaBoys4life's threads, I can honestly say that I am alot dumber for reading his nonsense than I was when I woke up this morning!

I should have known better....!

5 - 11....? Totally stupid and embarassing to say the least, but, I guess I just consider the source and move on.
