My eye test on Trey and what he brings that Dak doesn't

If you listed out 20 things for Dak vs Lance, there would probably be atleast 16 or more that Dak does better. So it seems crazy some would try to make a QB controversy.

What could Lance do better?

-Run faster?
-Throw the ball further?

Neither really definitively means better results on the field. The Cowboys are taking a low risk shot at developing Lance because he's a young, talented, but unpolished QB.. The Cowboys have said many times they're committed to Dak so unless Lance is needed on gameday and starts playing amazing there's virtually no reason to think he will be QB1 here.
I said this in one if the other Trey Lance threads. But if Dak is the QB fans believe he is then Trey will not see the field.

To the Dak “lovers” or “Dakstans”, if Dak is the man then this is a non issue, Trey will be QB2 or QB3.

To the Dak “haters”, if Dak is not the man then Trey, or some other QB, will replace him because Jerry is actively looking for young QBs to groom.

To the Cowboys fans, you know those fans that love the entire team and is not engaged in a power struggle over one player. Those weird freaks that want the team to succeed rather than be right or wrong. For us this is a great move for our team because it exhausts all options to make our team better. For the first time in a long time Jerry didn’t say “we like our guys” when the phone rang. That’s encouraging to Cowboys fans IMHO. If nothing comes of this I’m just happy Jerry and cap boy didn’t say “we did our due diligence “ and “we like our guys”.

This kid a long term project and an investment for the future. There was a reason the 49ers gave king's ransom for him as the 3rd overall pick. Like it or not the deal is done and let's hope he can be a stud. He is still young and Dak is 30. Solid move with very little downside IMO.

I do think that Dak has changed his style of play a bit since the ankle injury. He is still a decent QB and gives us a chance to win if he has the pieces around him.
Jerry wants a new QB.

I'm excited to see where this kid can take us in the future
Yep, here's a example of square peg/round hole syndrome.
Trey is not a WCO candidate, Shanahan isn't going to change his system . As soon as the Mike and Dak show ends this kid will take over in a pure pocket system.

OP's post proves that a few on this forum can't handle any objectivity. Nothing he said was meant to promote Lance or denigrate Dak. I can understand refuting some of the "Dak hate posts", but not being able to deal with anything negative said about this team or certain players is borderline immaturity.

I find it hilarious that some are worried that Lance will be a distraction for Dak. Dak is a man. If he can't handle the pressure he shouldn't be QB 1. Dak's a better QB right now for the most part. Yeah, he got jumpy and nervous after the ankle injury. Yes, I think he folded twice in two years in the playoffs because he played scared, but he's still QB1 and rightfully so right now. Will that change in the future? Possibly, but if he can't handle them developing another potential starter, he should pack his bags and leave. This is football, not therapy.
Be quiet bro. I know you don't like Dak, but that's not the point. This team has absolutely no chance without Dak right now. Have you seen this Preseason's first 2 games breakdowns on Trey Lance? He absolutely sucks and has no business in the NFL. Cowboys would be better served having kept Will Grier because Cooper Rush is very limited physically and Trey Lance is a major bust. If Dak goes down, this season is over.

Wasn’t there kind of a power struggle between Shanahan and Lynch about Lance. Lunch wanted him but Shanahan didn’t. If the coach doesn’t want you a change of scenery is needed. Also would explain why Shanny didn’t coach him up.
I don't know. the truth will slowly come out.

which then puts Lance in another tough situation. 9ers Gm wanted him, coach didn't. now Cowboys GM wanted him, coach had no idea.

Yes, and how it‘s going to distract the team.
It won’t.

Not a single player on that team is going to be clamoring for a third string QB to supplant the well respected leader they’ve been following for the past 7 years.

You’re worrying something that hasn’t even happened and likely never will.

I said he's rightfully the QB1. I won't be quiet. I never once said they had a chance without him or with Lance in there. Read what I said before assuming my intent please. But if trading a fourth for the guy to kick the tires and develop him as Dak's back up is some kind of distraction to Dak, then Dak has NO business being QB1. You KNOW my stance has always been develop QB's to challenge the guy in front of him. You guys just get so defensive of Dak that you read the worst into everything said about him, rightful criticism or not.

I fully agree that if Dak goes down the season is over. But I also think that unless something in Dak's head changes, he'll flame out in the playoffs again. His ankle injury shattered something mentally.

Uh, ohhh.....you are about to get **** on... Dak fans will come tell you he is in the best shape of his life, has learned how to read defenses, is taking the game serious now........oh yeah, he's the best leader since General Patton.
And he doesn't need a coach. He calls plays better than anyone on the staff

Funny to watch these Dak over Dallas fanatics blast the OP for his thread when he specifically said he is a fan of Dak, doesn't think Lance will take over for Dak, and was just pointing out some positive traits that Lance possesses.......but of course the Rock's and AC's of the group read what they want and automatically say the OP isn't a Cowboys fan.
This is a microcosm of the nation: think what they think or you are open for being attacked. Well, many are growing tired of it and will not go without a fight.

The epitome of the Dak over Dallas fan: members should shut up of AC doesn't agree with you and it's all about Dak.

No, there is nothing wrong with Dak mentally. The guy simply had no team around him all of last season.
