I dont expect Dallas to sign any big FAs but i dont expect them to stay idle either. IMO more then rookie i think this team needs veterans who can lead. We all forget how young this team is. So these are some guys i could see the team going after.

Demarcus Ware: I think this might be tough to get done because DEN is trying to resign him to something reasonable. And is DE something that he really wants to do with his back situation? Rushing from the standup might sound alot better to him.

Julius Peppers: This is somebody i would be all for. The guy is 37 and doesnt turn 38 until January. He had 7.5 sacks in a yr where it seemed like everybody in GB was injured. The yr before he had 11.5 sacks. I would be all for this guy on a 1-2 yr deal in the 5-7mil range. Think he would be a even better fit than Ware.

Leon Hall: He came in last offseason and i could see another visit if the team cant get Carr or Claiborne to commit. Solid vet who the team thinks is a fit.

Ifo-Ekpre Olomu: Has yet to play in a game in the nfl. Injured his acl in TC this yr and was waived but is already been cleared to resume fooball activities. Could see the team taking a look to see where he is. Guy has talent.

Terrance Newman: Say it aint so. 39 and most likely not going to get more than 3-4mil a yr. Maybe even less because of the age. But still has something left as his play shows.

Josh McCown: Obviously we know this team is interested and i would be good with him as the backup. People want to critic him on last yr. He played for the browns and thats all you need to know. Bad luck for him.Guy has been a good backup his whole career. But teams have wanted him to be a starter at times and hes not that. He's backup material. Thats what Dallas needs.

McCown would be okay if he really wants to play in Dallas. I would certainly prefer him to Sanchez.
Hopefully, we could get him for no more than we paid Sanchez per game. The rest are old and getting older or
injured with dubious pedigrees. I would just try and sign some of our guys and work hard in the draft. The
draft is where we seem to be making hay.

Ifo is really iffy.

He tore his left ACL in his Sr year at Oregon, then tore the right last summer.

Was a 7th round pick that could have gone 30-40 if not for the injury, but he's proved nothing.

This is another case whose medical report is critical to his potential ROI.
He could be ready to go, or he could be done.

Wouldn't sign any of those guys. Maybe McCown because somebody has to hold the clip board.

I'd take Peppers because you need to bring in a vet DE. I prefer him over Ware at this point. There isn't much left in the FA market for pass rushing ends other than a guy like Perry or Sheard.

Do people forget how thin we got at DE during the season? Lawrence is still a health question as is Tapper both with back issues. You will inevitably get another injury to someone else.

People are only saying Ware because of the familiarity and wanting a reunion. Peppers is a much better fit, more productivive and healthy. I have my doubts Ware would even be healthy in a 15-20 snap per game role at this point.

I'd pass on everyone but Ware. This is a young team and if you add Ware it's only if he wants to give you a hometown discount to play here near his kids and retire a Cowboy.
Beyond that I'm not adding anyone over 30.

Peppers makes no sense. He's old and no longer explosive. Has no ties to the area and no reason to except a cheap deal here. He's made a ton of money including a base of 7m just last year. Him taking peanuts to move here for 1 season makes no sense. Dallas paying much of anything makes no sense. If he's dying to come here of course I listen but this is the longest of long shots.

Hall and TNew are far too old at CB. TNew isn't even a legit starting CB anymore and this is the guy who overruled Zimmer in Minny. The same Zimmer who was his DB coach here in Dallas, then Cincy and fought to sign the guy in Minny. Resign Carr or Mo long before these 2 enter any conversation.

QB... I've seen us too many times add a "name" guy and they are really just coasting into retirement. I'd rather have a young kid or draftee come in and allow Moore to remain #2.
It's Dak's team now. Moore knows the system and wants to eventually be a starter.

Likely some young guys with limited time out there we'd look at. And draftees then UDFA.

I don't know how Terrance Newman does it. He is nearly a better QB now than he was 15 years ago.

I'd take Peppers over Ware though.

Newman would somehow injury his groin the second he steps onto the field if he re-signed with us.

This silly logic some of you have where you can't sign anyone over 30 cracks me up.

As long as you don't go out and sign 10 free agents that are over 30, a smart franchise would bring in an older, productive player to supplement a young team. There are so many advantage to it. For one, an older player can be a good mentor for young kids and we'll have a bunch of young DEs (see Freeney in Altanta). Older guys also often come with smaller price tags and short contracts that don't kill you down the road.

The fear some of you have over adding strategic older veterans is completely shortsighted.

Peppers is an ideal fit for the right price. He's still productive and mostly healthy (compared to Ware who hasn't played a full season the last two years). Peppers hasn't missed a game in his last 7 seasons. At this point, he's going to be on a one or two year deal, max.

why are we so wrapped in mediocrity. just why.

If so many people are convinced we are so close to a SB, get the 1 or 2 players we need and be done with FA. Use the draft as best we can, and we are set the roster needs to have a few players trimmed, so enough room for projects. Lets make this happen. No need to sign "blue chip" players to save a buck or two. This is the NFL, not a thrift store

I would probably pass on every player you listed, other than maybe Ware, if he came CHEAP.
