My Final 2011 Mach..........Unless Of Course I Get the Itch

Doesnt matter what he played at, everyone feels he was plenty fast on the field. His 40 time was originally questioned, and it was proven to be a better time than previously thought. Lombardi and his group of scouts conferred and had the same number.

Some rogue media member ran w/ a false number and it got perpetuated from there. Most likely because it fits the story of the small school sleeper becoming an all time great

Actually, I remember it being talked about even then before he became so great. Something like this is what I remember Gil saying even back then:

(This whole article on the 40 is very good, not just the first part about Rice.)

Cool, thanks.

Interesting, I didn't click on most of the major ILB prospects (that's where I see Foster playing), but I did look at Martez Wilson's numbers:

6' 3.5" 250 lbs

4.42 40-yard dash
1.56 10-yard...
2.53 20-yard...

23 bench press
36" vertical
10' 04" broad jump
4.28 20-yard shuttle
7.04 3-cone

Mason Foster:

6' 1.4" 245 lbs

4.75 40-yard dash
1.59 10-yard... (combine #...proday was actually slower at 1.62)
2.67 20-yard...

22 bench press
31" vertical
09'02" broad jump
4.45 20-yard shuttle
7.14 3-cone

Martez Wilson also tallied 222 tackles, 9 sacks, 2 FF, 1 INT is four seasons at Illinois. However, remember Wilson only played one game in '09 (injury) and 37 games total in his college career. Compared to 45 games for Mason Foster.

idk martez wilson looks stiff as a bord trying to change directions but do anybody know how is this guy in coverage. A coverage linebacker is really needed on this team (not saying sean lee can't do it but he has health issues so far). Last year other than safety, one of the biggest problems we had is our safeties helping our ILB's too much thats why they didnt really help our cb's out as much as they should of.

I think part of the reason he appears to be stiff is that he had a herniated disk in his neck in '09. He had surgery and came back to have a great '10 season.

His workout numbers also seemingly contradict his appearance. It could be the neckroll, but the kid reminds me of a more athletic Bryan Cox.

i wonder if that pushes him down alittle on people boards (herniated disk surgery).

It might be a concern but I doubt it will drop him too much. He's more than a year removed from the injury and came back and had his best season just last year.

If anything, teams may look at a guy like Wilson as someone who is on the upswing.
