I voted no, but I guess I would have to accept it or start watching NASCAR or something.

I hate the idea. Doesn't matter if I do or not. It seems pretty obvious he's coming and I will have to root for him. I have no choice. My love for the team is stronger than my aversion to all that he stands for.

I'm in the same boat as you Hos. Can't stand him but it looks like I'll be rooting for TO this year. :cry2:

I will go on record now...T.O. will not be a DALLAS COWBOY!

I think something else is going on here....what I don't know! But, I'm liking it! :star:

Just posted #3, if the coach thinks he can control him, OK. I don't like TO, will never forget him standing on our star TWICE, but I will probably support him if he comes here ...uugh...At least, I think I will...

And earlier you bragged about having more tradition and loyalty. Interesting.

I suppose the fact that T.O. took a crap on the star has little to do with Dallas tradition.

But, as a matter of fact, T.O. is the only person in NFL history to have mocked the Cowboys traditions, in person, in front of 55,000 fans. If you don't have more loyalty to the Cowboys than to be anti-T.O., then you are worse than a Commander fan in my book.

According to the latest poll on this website, little more than 20% of Cowboys fans who surf the internet and have seen that thread are purebred, diehard Cowboys fans. My conclusion is that the bulk of the purebred, diehard Cowboy fans don't surf this website. They will be furious when they find out that T.O. has become a Cowboy. The effects will be worse than the poll results indicate.

I wish this same poll was up a month ago just to see how the feelings in here have changed since then.

No, absolutely don't want him. I will be hoping he suffers a broken leg every time he touches the ball just like I did when he played elsewhere. I will still be a Cowboys fan because I know he will screw up sooner rather than later and be booted out on his arse.

They'll be furious until the TDs start piling up. That's just the way it is.

Lots of fans such as yourself will never forgive him, most of us will never, ever like him.

BUt when the catches and highlight reels start, most will fall into at minimum a quiet acceptance. Many, many more will go out and buy his jersey.

THis pattern has been repeated many a time since FA started in all sports.

I remember when Dennis Rodman lost his mind in his prime. After he destroyed the Spurs, no team would touch him. Only one team stepped up, the Chicago Bulls led by Phil Jackson and MJ. Their approach, let Dennis be Dennis. You want to color your hair, fine. You want to take your shoes off when you come to the bench, fine. You want to chill out on the floor when you're not in the game, fine. You want to be a complete idiot, fine. As long as you bring it on the court. That Rodman did, when the Bulls were on their 2nd 3-peat run. We don't have a MJ who pretty much was the law in the locker room but we do have Jerry and Bill. I see similarities in how I think they'll approach the whol TO thing if he comes here. Jerry and Bill may be what TO needs. What players don't just absolutely love Jerry and Bill?

No one person has a right to dictate the parameters of team loyalty. TO on the team mars everything the team ever stood for. Feel free to hurl the tired Irvin/Deion/Keyshawn comparisons. TO is a completely different animal. If you don't see it, you never will.

People love in different ways. People have different perceptions of betrayal, of loyalty, of steadfastness. TO on the team invalidates everything Tom Landry ever stood for in ways Keyshawn/Irvin/Deion never did. And Tom Landry is still the benchmark for this franchise. If you can not see it, you never will.

I will not watch the destruction of something I have loved every day of my life since I could first formulate a cohesive thought. If that makes me a betrayer in your eyes, so be it.

Rodman was drafted by the Bulls, he went through San Antonio and Dallas after he passed his prime and went nutz.

Yes. TO is a difference maker and the Cowboys need more players with his game changing ability in order to advance to the next level. The team cannot get lazy in their dealings with TO if/when he becomes a Cowboy. As the situation in Philly shows, a lackadaisical attitude can prove to be destructive.

I see exactly what the people who can't get over the Star thing, and have no problem with it...but I will also say that as mutch as I was P@##ed off at him when he did his trick on the star, having watched T.O. over the years I can say that WE fans have spent a LOT more time analyzing his motives that day than he ever did. If you look at all of his other celebrations, this one was rather mild.
In terms of being the only player to mock the Cowboys in front of 55,000 fans, what about Buddy Ryan calling a fake kneel down play and scoring a late trash TD? What about Deion Sanders as a Niner showboating in the 1994 NFC Championship game, what about all of the hundreds of players over the years who have been quoted talking trash about "Americas Team"?
I don't like T.O. at all and am one of those players who voted #3 as I would rather he not be associated with the team. However, you play the games to win the Super Bowl and T.O. makes us a very improved team.

I know a lot of people who were rabid Cowboy fans who have never cheered for them since Jerry fired Landry, and you know what...I understand that completely. I was also crushed by the horrible, classless way that was handled. I know some other fans who will turn from the team if we sign T.O. and I understand that completely as well.

But no matter what happens, I cheer for the men with the stars on their helmets. I have come to the conclusion that it is imprinted in my DNA and I'm not gonna change. I've cheered for Harold Carmichael, I've cheered for Randal Cunningham, hell I've ever cheered for Ryan Leaf. And yes, I'll cheer for T.O. while at the same time, hoping we bring in George Teague as an assistant to keep his sorry a@@ in line.
