My game Ball goes to Garrett

Good Lord. Garrett was a football dolt to end the half and at the end of regulation. 3 plays took 19 seconds off the clock and gave the ball back to Philly with a chance to win it. And going shotgun on 1st and goal from the 5 twice which led to an INT was just plain stupid.

Winning cures all I guess.......

you can't blame the coaches when the team and QB do that bad a job at executing the plays.

That's exactly what I say. The opponent plays a part in it as well. People only hate Garrett if things don't work out or we lose. We ran a lot of plays that have been working all year, and everybody loved seeing them then. And now that they didn't work for one game, that means the playcalling was terrible? Nah.

Garrett

I have been hard on Garrett the past couple seasons, well basically since he took over. With his call to fake the punt to swing momentum and to rely on his strength of the team in overtime to go for a 4and 1. Also I want to say that a lot of teams would have given up with a game like that when nothing is going your way. But Garrett's teams have always played hard for him, which is another good sign of a good coach.

With the development of Dak, dealing with the injuries and creating a team environment, I want to publicly go on record that I am eating crow about Garrett and he is starting to win me over.

But tonight, he definitely coached a good game, was aggressive and played to win. My game ball goes to Garrett for his performance tonight.

Good game Garrett. You deserve a game ball.
I'm not a huge Garrett fan, but credit where it is due. He used to be totally gutless and always played it safe, but he has grown some serious balls over the past year or two.

That decision to go for it on 4th and 1 in OT was also the right decision and he deserves credit for it. I think 2011 Garrett would have kicked there.

I totally agree with you on the playcalling (I even created a thread about the horrible playcalling to end both halves - see the Coaches forum) but I think that is more on Linehan than Garrett.

Props to Jason Garrett.

We threw the sink at them in a game where we were clearly struggling offensively.

They must have really saw something on the fake punt. That's **** they point to when you lose your job if you don't make it.

I thought the coaching staff did a fairly average job tonight. Some good, some bad.

Their redzone play calls were bizarre. They got away from Elliott early too. Fake punt was a ballsy call.

Agree the way things were going most the night it was nice to see Garrett pull out some well timed trickery.

Yup, and I like Dak, he has a real future here. But he got by last night aided by a real conservative Eagles team in the 4th quarter. I counted at least 5 or 6 passes that should have been picked. Thrown right into coverage. It's like Dak had decided where he was going with the ball pre-snap regardless the coverage. He was pretty lucky last night. I wanted to see how he would play when the run game was taken away and if Philly had a QB who would throw more than 5 yard ***** all night, Cowboys probably lose that game.

LOL.

The fallback position when Garrett and company mess up. It's the players' fault!

The playcalling was bad last night at times. At the end of the game, the calls inside the 10 yard line.

You do know Garrett doesn't call the plays, right
I thought Scott called a bad game and Garrett made some very gutsy calls. To for on 4th with bailey really took some balls

Yeah, don't let the facts mess with your hate.

Dude the fake punt was INSANE... as in unbelievably Gutsy and showed me this team believes and wants to win at all costs. The Beasley laterall almost hit home to TWILL who should have given better effort IMO. Great coaching ... some bad playcalling however at times.

Aggression was good.
Playcalling, particularly last 2 drives of regulation, was horrid.
Where was the screen to Zeke or WR?
Garrett wasn't doing the play calling.
I think you know that, but just reminding those who don't.

But yeah, he does make the decision on whether to go for it or not.

Facts? With two minutes to go, they had 3 timeouts and could have still run the ball with Elliott against an Eagles team that was just rushing up the field. Three passes. And we punt the ball back. Bad series by the coaches there.

Inside the 10 yard line, they ignored Elliott entirely.

The staff simply was inconsistent last night , especially on offense and special teams.

I've gotta hand it to him. This season, the playcalling is more gutsy than I'd ever thought it'd be.

Garrett had a fine night for sure. That 4th-and-1 had me puckered up good. Still think I would have kicked it because the defense had found itself a bit, but it made sense to get your big young QB and run him at Bennie Logan's replacement with a fullback pushing from behind.

I ll even admit i have to give Garrett credit because i credit him with everything that goes bad. We played that game badly from start to the end of regulation. Winning cures all, and a flip of a coin. He did what he had to do this game. That doesnt mean our 8-8 seasons are behind us, but we would have to have a serious melt down for that this year. Regardless of what I had assumed, this team did much better this season than i am sure anyone expected if money was on the line.

Anyone who loved the Zeke pick was vindicated, those of us that liked the Dak pick has really won that argument. Just an odd season but i bet we ll take it.
