Awesome. I feel like him just putting it all out on the table and saying we are going to win and then going out and doing it will further bring confidence and camaraderie with the team.

Garrett? No way, calls at the end of the first half were horrendous and almost lost the game for us. Red needs to go.

Garrett

I have been hard on Garrett the past couple seasons, well basically since he took over. With his call to fake the punt to swing momentum and to rely on his strength of the team in overtime to go for a 4and 1. Also I want to say that a lot of teams would have given up with a game like that when nothing is going your way. But Garrett's teams have always played hard for him, which is another good sign of a good coach.

With the development of Dak, dealing with the injuries and creating a team environment, I want to publicly go on record that I am eating crow about Garrett and he is starting to win me over.

But tonight, he definitely coached a good game, was aggressive and played to win. My game ball goes to Garrett for his performance tonight.

Good game Garrett. You deserve a game ball.

Hard to argue with that. He has definitely grown a pair this year. It's night and day from previous seasons.

You realize Linehan calls the plays on offense right? Bet you feel dumb now

He showed big stones to go for it on 4th down in OT. Major props to him. I hate him as HC but he did a good job last night.

Right, and the head coach has nothing to say in those calls. ok.
So you also think Linehan has to call the play into Garrett who says yes or no before allowing Linehan to actually call the play? If this is the case we need to change the rules allowing for a longer play clock so they can adequately discuss strategy before each down.

So you think Linehan asks Garrett's permission before calling every play into Dak?

HC has the right of overrule.

The HC is not a figure head. I also see Redball as a control freak (like all HCs). If he is going to be blamed, he will make the call anyway.

you can't blame the coaches when the team and QB do that bad a job at executing the plays.

So I should blame Dak and the rest of the O for going shotgun (and passing) on two straight plays from the 5 yard line leading up to the INT. Not me. That's stupid.

And clock management and play calling is on the HC. The zebras and the D bailed Garrett out or we'd all be talking about his piss poor coaching job.

Keep telling yourself that. We get it you don't like Garrett and everyone is bailing him out. lol

I totally agree with you on the playcalling (I even created a thread about the horrible playcalling to end both halves - see the Coaches forum) but I think that is more on Linehan than Garrett.

You do know Garrett doesn't call the plays, right
I thought Scott called a bad game and Garrett made some very gutsy calls. To for on 4th with bailey really took some balls

Garrett is the HC and he's responsible. The game is also full of commercials and the 2 minute break. Plenty of time for Garrett can't walk over to his OC and make sure they're on the same page at critical points in the game. If he can't do that when critical coaching decisions need to be made, then he's useless; he's nothing more than a butt slapping, hand clapping cheerleader.

And you keep telling yourself that running 19 seconds off the clock on 3 pass plays and giving the ball back to the oposing team at the end of the game without having them burn their time outs is good football. I mean, that's just epic stupidity that even Colinsworth commented on. But I'm sure he knows nothing. I get it, you'll defend Garrett's stupidity even when it makes you look foolish in the process.

I will defend a NFL HC over some message board hack. Yeah team is doing all of this and winning and Garrett has nothing to do with it. You are joke. Some message board want to be. Week after week you cry and week after week Garrett's Cowboys win. LOL

Aggression was good.
Playcalling, particularly last 2 drives of regulation, was horrid.
Where was the screen to Zeke or WR?

Playcalling was fine. There were 1v1s to be had. They just had to be done quickly. I doubt that they could have snuck a screen by. Draw certainly didn't work.

I don't think that Collinsworth used terms like "monumentally stupid" or anything approximating the tone of your post.

Collinsworth commented as well. Is he a message board hack? Yes, 3 plays in 19 seconds. Keep defending........

He didn't. But when he comments that we only used 19 seconds near the 2 minute warning and gave the ball back to Philly with a chance to win it, I think that just speaks for itself. Even you must admit that was a bad tactical decision.

Hard to argue with that. He has definitely grown a pair this year. It's night and day from previous seasons.

I think the difference is that he has confidence in his teams. He didn't prior to 2013 and played conservatively. Its the same general mindset as when you blitz. Its great when it works but if it doesn't you are left exposed.

Those 8-8 teams were bad teams.
