Hamlin has looked pretty good the past 2 weeks. I do believe that Sensy will get a pick once the cast comes off. But, I think Sensy is probably a 2-4 INT a year guy, mainly because that's part of the SS role and it's tough to get a lot of picks from that position. But, I'm also convinced that the FS has to be getting at least 4 picks a year as well. Most of the turnovers in the league are interceptions and the top pass defenses usually get quite a few picks from safety position. In other words, IMO, interceptions from safeties = quality of pass defense (for the most part).

So while it's nice to do a solid job in coverage, I believe in today's NFL you need your safeties to make plays for you.

The real test should come next week as I get the feeling that the Eagles will really challenge our safeties.

That's a good point. I can't really explain the lack of INT's with this team. I never could. I watch other teams and its like the qb has his worst throws against every team but the Cowboys. I swear I watch some of these INT's SHarper gets? They aren't Sharper in great coverage. He's just at the right place at the right time. This is not really a argument on my part but I just have no clue on how it seems qb's throw terrible passes against other teams but with us not only do the get the ball out of there fast they rarely throw terrible footballs. But I agree with you. We need more plays out of the secondary. Today we got fumbles. I'll take either to be honest. A turnover is a turnover. But some INT's would be nice. I just don't see many that should be had. Sensabaugh dropped one right through his hands but with the cast he deserves a pass.

You do realize Romo is only 29, right?
"Only" 29? That doesn't really make me feel any better. My only beef with Romo is that he, at 29, still makes mistakes I expect to see out of guys that are 22. Granted he has played great over the past few weeks and has had few flaws in his game, but it's hard to deny that he's made some pretty stupid mistakes in key situations in the past.

There are certain opinions that one can hold that disqualify their opinion on most other topics, yes.

Your opinions on Romo are so irrational and so ... well, that's about as polite as I can put it, that yes, I tend to have a hard time reading anything else you say about the sport.

As for not reading your posts, I didn't finish it. Got maybe a paragraph or two in and stopped, so I took your advice in that regard.

There's nothing irrational about a guy who has developed an established pattern of playing extremely well before December then crapped the bed in December and thinking that unless this guy proves that he can break this pattern, then you're better off looking elsewhere.

There's nothing irrational about having a blog reader compile a database of every season by every NFL quarterback who threw at least one pass, normalize the data between eras, and come up with Romo having a similar career to the same point as QB's like Jim Everett, Dan Fouts, John Elway, Scott Mitchell, Frank Ryan and Jack Kemp. And outside of Fouts, none of these guys got better in their late 20's and early 30's. And only Elway won a Super Bowl.

Hey, I hope Romo proves me wrong. He seems to be taking the right steps this year to raise the level of his play, but we'll see when the rubber hits the road in a few weeks.

Don't agree that Romo is done or that he needs to be replaced, but I agree that the Cowboys need to have another QB ready to play soon. Hopefully, in 2 maybe 3 years Stephen McGee is ready to roll. The most disappointing thing to see this preseason was him not be able to play against Minnesota.

Keep up the good work, YR.

2 to 3 years? Romo will still be in his prime lol.

What the hell? What rookie mistakes? He had 3 INT's in 1 damn game. He has 4 ALL YEAR. Seriously. Where do you guys come from? I mean accuse my rudeness but what the hell is going on here? We're judging him for his past play and not his recent play?

What if Romo's still a tease in 2 or 3 years?

That's what you people aren't getting, but okay whatever.

Why not just root for the guy? He is the face of the franchise.

To boo him and make the comments you are making is much like being a Philly fan and just never appreciating how good McNabb really is.

Who said I don't root for the guy?

Who said I boo him?

I want Romo to do extremely well. When he plays well, I usually make note of it and the only reason why I didn't mention it in last week's post is because it was obvious he had a great game and wasn't much of a talking point.

But I'm not convinced that come December and more importantly in the postseason he'll perform.

I think it's cute that you've done some data mining and convinced yourself that your opinion isn't radically stupid. I really do.

You either completely missed the part where I gave him credit for playing well over the past three weeks or you just conveniently left it out to increase the chances that I would respond in a vigorous manner.

The whole sig man.

You've gone ESPN.

Seriously... Stop and think for a minute how crazy it is to give up on a guy who has done so much in so little time.

Saying something like that is something i'd expect from a extremely casual fan who picks up a JJT article in the news paper while drinking coffee and agrees with everything he says.

Just disappointed in our fanbase, I guess.
People at times forget that the Cowboys are a business, a business which some of us invest tens-of-thousands a dollars in on an annual basis. I feel that I'm well within my rights to be angry at a business that I have such a grand investment in. I'm somewhat disappointed that you APPEAR (broad-assumption) to be somewhat satisfied with mediocrity when it comes to players like Roy Williams. I personally expect far more from a player that we invested so much in.

I didn't do the data mining. Didn't even ask for it. Had it done for me and that's what the results were.

I think it's cute that you can claim somebody is irrational, but when they use very rational research to forecast things, that's still irrational.

I know this is a crazy thought to you, but people can disagree with your opinions and not necessarily be wrong if they back it up.

Absolutely, I'd encourage everyone to do exactly that. But you also have to look at it objectively and realize that we beat a pretty poor team that has been decimated by injuries this year (which is becoming the norm in the state of Washington). I will feel much better if we beat the Eagles next week, that to me is our first true challenge since the Giants in week 2. You seem to be a pretty upbeat person when it comes to the Cowboys, what is a realistic expectation as far as the outcome is concerned for next week in your mind?

Would this research have recommended cutting Peyton Manning after his fifth season when he was 0-3 in the playoffs?

Would this research have recommended starting Steve Young in San Francisco?

Of course not. All three QBs happen to be leading all of the QBs in the history of the league in QB rating. And two of them are HOF quarterbacks. But the research you rely on would have not allowed them to get there.

Your opinion is just bizarre. Bizarre, that's a good word to describe it. And it forces others to completely disregard everything else you say, so congrats on that.
