i'll deride anyone who wants to bash any cowboy player, even barbie, for all they do even slightly in error while refusing to ever give credit to what they do right.
i tend to believe, as troy aikman has stated, that this team needs romo to play at a very high level to win, if he plays only average football we get beat silly. so he draws insane hate from even our own fan base. it's about the design of the team, the schemes and the players we have drafted to go around TR.
but i am sick to death of hearing abut december.... is that a troubling trend? absolutely. but there is nothing anyone can do about it until december. other than trying to insure nicked guys get rest they need t be healthy there is little this team can do now other than win the games they play NOW, not focus on december.
once this team wins a game in december with TR playing poorly then talk to me about him holding us back. until then he isn't doing anything but playing as his teammates play and does not deserve singling out.
my post wasnt bashing Romo, as i stated in another post to another poster, I back Romo, but you have to take the good with the bad. Thats the bottom line.
Second, to the rest of your post, you do this, Prevention. Whatever Romo was doing to collapse in december, you throw it away, or find ways to work around it. If hes collapsing because its cold, find ways to get him warmer before the game. If you are noticing hes not watching film because he's played those teams before, double up the film watching.
For some reason he is collapsing in december and there has to be a reason for it. The coaches have to find it and correct it. Is it mental, physical, abstract, who cares, find it and prevent it, or at least take measures to decline his rapid fall.
Its not easy and its not a quick fix, but there are aspects people in general cant handle that others dont understand for themselves.
We know Romo gets excited and you have to calm him down in the begining of the game so he finds his groove, they found it and fix it. We know he generates a lot of improvision, they found it and fix some of it. It might be a matter of time when they fix his december blues, but believe me, they arent sitting around waiting for him to collapse again or just going to wait for it to happen or taking up their back up plan, praying.
