If that is the direction we are going, start looking at RT's being cut in a couple of weeks and use A-train's money there.

I think someone else was making comparisons of Romo to Warner ... not sure who though ...

Babe Laufenberg made it. He made the comparison, and said its because Romo always has his feet underneath him when he throws, and does a good job of checking down and finding his non-primary WR's. He said that's been the difference between Romo and Henson in this camp. Henson locks in on his primary WR.

Coyle and draftinsiders on Romo

They gave Henson a nice write up after he quit baseball....

$Live arm and ability to make all the throws
$Excellent accuracy and touch and timing to hit receivers in stride
$Has a very quick release
$Needs to work on deep ball
$Great at decision making, great progressions and delivers ball to the right receiver at the right time
$Makeup to be a NFL starting QB.
$Excellent NFL upside

Heres on from NFLexperts

Pos:Smart, efficient quarterback with the skills to play at the next level. Patient in the pocket, buys time for receivers and scans the field, taking what the defense gives him. Quickly releases the pass and accurate on both the short or intermediate throws. Adequate long arm and leads receivers down the field. Sells the play action pass, senses pressure and steps up to avoid the rush. Displays good wherewithal and field leadership skills.

Great posts, Hos. A few questions.....I have a friend in Longview, TX, who watched the game and came away with these observation. He said he never saw the Cowboys blitz once! Also stated that Cardinals in blitz mode almost continually....stated that Parcells was surprised with all the blitzing as this normally does not take place in first preseason game. Said offensive line had not prepared for blitzes. I can't confirm any sources for this info.....just wanted your input on this.

p.s. for all posters who wanted to know....Brad Sham & Troy Aikman broadcast game live on Kicks99Country. Very enjoyable.

I am a Henson fan, but I have to agree with that analysis.

That being said, when you compare the two it's very easy to see that Henson has the superior physical talent and gives the organization the greater upside. Romo is now in his 3rd year after playing all through college. Henson is only entering his 2nd season after sitting out for 3 years. I'm sure it's the organization's hope that with time and reps Henson will come along and improve on those things that Babe mentioned.

I'm rooting for Henson too, and Romo, but I would say its not a given that Henson will automatically shake off that habit given playing time anymore than its a given that he can learn to hit a curveball given more at bats. Its what seperates the Peyton Mannings from the Jeff Georges. Does anyone know how well passes were distributed at Michigan during Henson's year as a starter?

I didn't see us blitz either and yes they blitzed like their lives depended on it.

I loved their young LBs.

Karlos Dansby
Lance Mitchell
Darryl Blackstock

These guys will be tough for years. The Cards will surprise folks this year.

I think Denny wanted to send Jerry a message about passing on hiring him.

The Cards fans countered the falling sky with their pie eyed we just won the Super Bowl optimism.

No I'm not joking. This was their Super Bowl.

Hos, just watched Calico's vids, and I agree Crayton is the real deal, great hands and goes full speed the whole time.

Also agree on your assesment of the QB's, Both Romo and Henson looked good. Romo did not have the zip in his passes that Henson had. Romo lobbed them in there, albiet with great accuracy, but a lob nonetheless. I would agree with everyone in that the WCO is where Romo should be. Henson still needs some work but he is getting better, he needs to do alittle better checking down, but that could be due to teh poor protection he had.

Just a bump. I missed this thread and thought others who weren't reading as much yesterday might have too. Good observations Hos.

Great thread.

I asked Dale in chat if Romo didn't remind him of Jason Garrett. He agreed with me that it was a good comparison. I don't think Romo will be a long term starter....he is somewhat limited. But I think he can be a guy that runs an offense if your starter goes down for a few weeks and not lose games for you.

Henson on the other hand has all the tools. If Bledsoe got hurt in game one, I would expect to see Henson in there.

I saw the Bucs and Cowboys in Tampa two years ago during the 10-6 year. Between Carter, Hutch and Romo, Romo was by far the least impressive. It is not a slam. Just reality. Carter and Hutch's passes were smoking and you could hear the receiver's hands as they caught the ball. Romo's passes were quiet.
