Well if you heard Aikman last year, he was saying the same thing. He is of belief that if someone is was worth being a Franchise QB, BP would have started them instead of Vinny. Aikman is of the thinking you don't wait to develop QBs and that you throw them to wolves as soon as possible, considering most other franchises do that, from what I gather by his comments. BP is opposite of that and probably one of the last few NFL coaches who think that way seems like.

From hearing Aikman or Irvin for that matter, I really doubt they have any insight on QB situation of Cowboys. Its much like Pat Summerall or any other Media so called Friend's of BP saying what they believe or interpreting BP.

From three years of BP analyzing, this much is certain, any media person who says he knows what BP is thinking or Cowboys organization is thinking of in terms of QB or any other player, I really take it with a grain of salt.
I am not trying to slight Aikman on this, but he never played for Parcells so I don't know what insight he could have. I respect his opinions and think he is one of the best color guys there is. I'd be shocked to hear him bag on Henson if that is indeed what he did. I didn't hear it.

Hos, I didn't hear his comments on this game either. But he was regular on The Ticket here in Dallas, every thursday during season.

But from what I can gather listening to him, he thinks BP doesn't think Henson or Romo are Franchise QBs. Its not his own opinion per se. He thinks if BP thought of them being worthy of Franchise type QB or good QB, he would have started them instead of Vinny.

His just doesn't get the point of starting Vinny instead. At least thats the gist of his statements. As far as I know, he has only been to One practice this year, that too before this game. It could be, maybe he has more insight and that Jerry opened up to him etc.

Now other than that, I don't know Aikman knows too much about Henson or Romo or Bledsoe other than what he has seen in the game yesterday or one practice. One more thing I will add, I do notice from Aikman vs Irvin about Cowboys comments, Aikman seems more cautious about public comments on Cowboys. Irvin is more of a public homer :D

Remember Aikman was impressed with Hutch, when he played against Jagaurs during 2002 season, and thought he had a chance to be a good QB. I am not saying Aikman is not a good commentator etc., but he has limited view and no longer the Cowboys insider.

Anyway, thats my opinion, from hearing Aikman comments from last year though. It could have changed this year, so I could be wrong.

He never bagged on Henson....He DID say that Romo could be a quality STARTER in this league. He didn't say that he would be a stand-out QB or anything. He said he gets this from insiders at Valley ranch as well as watching him himself.

Dale should tell the story if he is of the mind to at some point. Parcells said something to the team reporters that he asked be kept "off the record."

Polite runs hard, picks up blitzes and showed decent hands last night. I am more amped than ever for this kid.

BTW, described by one coach as "the smartest player on the team."

I like Polite too ... just don't know if we keep a FB ...

I disagree with Troy then. I don't see it. I'd mention comments relayed to me about the coach's opinions but why bother.

That's fine...you can disagree with him if you want. I'm just repeating what he said last night during the game.

Listen....I'm just looking for positives on both guys, not looking for anything negative like it seems alot of people are doing and concentrating on those.

Like I said Ben. There was no pop on any throw that I saw. If he has a gun he was not showing it last night. Bledsoe and Henson did.

Call him Kojak because it was all lollypops.

Warm ups, Hos ... Warm ups ....

You're damn right I am, but I didn't go to the game to look for good from Henson and bad from Romo. I'm just telling people what I saw. If that offends them then so be it.

I think the offensive thing is that you're twisting, spinning and reaching for the assesment to be that Henson out performed Romo ...

And dismissing Romo's consistant, if nothing else, performance ...

And you're 'warm up' evaluation is also suspect for good reason ...

Not saying that you aren't entitled to your opinion ... just that it doesn't hold much water ... you're talking about warm ups ...

You didn't read the 1st post, or you totally ignored it. Everything said since then is expalined in it.

You're lost. Go back to the beginning, start there. Either you'll figure it our or you won't. I'm done explaining it to you and HH with the petty crap you guys want to mix in.

There's no spin. I said he (Romo) throws accurately and completed a lot of passes. I stand by everything else I said. (No arm)

I am not shocked by the reactions of you, HH and Nors. You've stuck your necks out pretty far. Pride is bitter. No big deal.

Oh ... I read it, Hos. I love it when you posture yourself like this ...

What pride is bitter?

I'm now willing to give Henson a chance, but you say "don't worry" any more about Henson because you saw him complete 6 passes from the stands ...

And you tell me that Romo has a weak arm because you saw him WARM UP. :lmao:

I don't doubt that you went to the game ... I just doubt your ability to fairly assess the situation without your Henson homer glasses on ...

The backhanded stabs you take at Romo, who out performed Henson; and is a threat to his #2 spot ... shows that you clearly have an agenda and are giving us the spectator's view of an ostrich regarding Henson/Romo ...

All the other stuff in the "first post" is fine ... but there's no substance or objectivity in your QB assesment.

I listened to the radio broadcast, and that's pretty much what he said. He said Romo has the tools to start in this league. He was talking up Romo, not bashing Henson. And believe me, Aikman was not handing out praise liberally during the broadcast for anyone.

Here's also what he said in the FWST on Saturday after watching the QB's in practice this week.

"I like Tony, from what I have seen. If you didn't know his background and who he was, watching him throw the football you wouldn't know ... he was an undrafted quarterback. I think you would think he was a rather high draft pick just watching him throw the ball."

I'll give you my impressions of what I saw and where it might lead.

We have more depth on defense, and it's better then I thought it would be. Keep in mind this was without Ferguson and Spears too.

We are going to have some tough calls to make come cut time. I will be surprised if Pepper does not land a spot taking Carson's place. Van Hoy held up pretty well when he was out there and will probably be a good PS player.

I was impressed by Fowler a lot. I was wrong about James, he looks like he's turned the corner. Shanle did pretty good. Singleton is going no place. Dat was pretty good. Ware and Burnett looked better than they played.

Beriault is our best safety not named Roy. Davis was out of position several times, Scott could have had a pick but was too slow reacting, Reese showed zip.

Our top 3 corners might be among the best in the league, there is a big ? after that though.

If they stay healthy and gel, we could be pretty good on defense and possibly very good after the bye week.

Offensively, we have talent and depth at RB and TE. Which is going to lead to really tough cuts.

The only tackle we have I'm sure about is Adams, and that is scary.

Guard looks better, because Peterman had both good and bad moments.

None of the centers played very well. Hos, Adbutcher and I wondered how stable Johnson's knee is.

We will have some tough choices at 3-5/6 at WR. Morgan and Crayton are close and Copper, Crowder, and Z. Smith all played well. I'd give Crayton the edge for #3, and that 5th spot is gonna be a dog fight.

Bledsoe scares the hell out of me.

Henson and Romo both read and reacted quicker.

Once Henson gets comfortable, there is no doubt who will win out, IMO.

The question is when will he reach that level?

To sum up, if the OL does not play a lot better than they showed last night, Bledsoe will kill any chance we have.

Now I can deal with this assesment ...

I particularly noticed Fowler and Shanle ... I like both of those players ...

A Henry is a bad mofo in run support too!

About Henson and Romo....

Listening to Aikman during the game last night, it couldn't be more opposite than what you said in your post.

Personally, I don't think that our "franchise" QB is even on our roster at this point.

Just my take on the post taken with what Aikman was saying last night.

Yeah, I heard what Aikman was saying ... and let's just say I can entirely see where he is coming from and from what Hos is saying, I'd have to think he was in the nose bleed section (when I know he probably wasn't).

I'll take Aikman's word for it though ...

If it were up to me, yes. I'd go in another direction. It's not personal. I haven't bashed him at all this off season even though I am firmly on Henson's bandwagon. I liked his accuracy but he does not have a big league arm.

(I know I'm doing it again, but I dont' care :D )

I think someone else was making comparisons of Romo to Warner ... not sure who though ...
