Maybe there is a reason why Murray got 400 plus carries and Randle got 50. Maybe the coaches know about Randle by seeing him in practice.

I don't really think the lack of carries had anything to do with Randle per se. This team likes to let the veteran leaders do what they want to do. Murray wants to be a workhorse back and they let him. It's part of the team mentality that they've built. It's the same mentality that had the starters going late into the blowout win against the Colts and playing the meaningless last game against the Skins.

I agree with this and walker's assertion of the team's mentality.

Dallas had a RB who was just ready to take over. It was just Murrays yr. But anybody who says they didnt see improvement in Randles game from week 1 to week 16 is fooling themselves. At the start of the yr he couldnt pick up blitzes. At the end he was picking them up regularly. He has that vision and 2nd gear that Murray doesnt seem to have. Those things cant be coached. you either have them or dont. I dont think Randle could be used in the same way, but couple him with a guy like Gurley, Mike Smith, David Cobb and you have a very dangerous 1-2 punch. And i like that a whole lot more then just having 1 guy carry the load, because it keeps your RBs fresh at the end of the yr, where we saw a tired Murray.

Yep. Every time Randle played he produced.

Randle looked like a very instinctive, slashing RB who would do well in Dallas' zone blocking scheme. If I had to guess, I'd say he would do well for Dallas. If that is how the Cowboys want to do it, I would like for them to draft a RB this year and have an open competition.

I really do like Williams as a runner but I'm just not sure he's as good as I think he is. The nice thing is that the coaches will have a good idea about Williams and Randle before they ever decide on Murray.

I agree as well. I think Randle also showed a big jump from last year to this year. Last year he seemed so much slower and more indecisive. I saw a much improved back this year. Granted it wasn't a huge sample size, but still for the amount of PT they gave him he looked pretty good.

I saw Williams play a lot in college. He's strong, fast and explosive. I don't know about blitz pickup, but the guy can flat run the rock.

Look at his prorated SB too. use ur brain dude. it actually 6.717 as of right now he has a 8mil base and 4.717 prorated SB. Take a paycut of 6 mil and you leave 2mil of base salary.

LOL @ the "use up brain dude" when you don't know what a signing bonus is.

I reviewed some of Ryan Williams college game footage and he looked terrific. Inside/Outside, power/speed, good receiver he was the real deal.

They just gave him a 2 year contract with 240K guaranteed. They don't give out that kind of guaranteed money unless they fully expect him to be on the roster next season.

He looked good in the preseason so I don't think he lost any speed or agility from the knee injury that he had in AZ.

People are talking about Randle being the lead back if Murry leaves, but I think it might be Williams.

I like Williams. And i think Williams will get a shot this coming yr. But i think Randle will be the guy. His blitz pickup is right where it needs to be. I saw him lined up on one side and jump across romo and pick up a blitzer on the opposite side alot this yr. Thats a guy who knows what to look for and can execute the pickup. Unless Williams can be that guy i dont think Williams will be anything mre then what Dunbar was this yr. Theres potential there ut being a RB means more then just running the ball.

Randle reminds me a lot of Felix Jones. If he ever becomes a starter I anticipate the same mediocre results.

Get a better, more physical #2 RB and you wouldn't have to wear out your #1 RB. Who by the way was so spent he had 125 for 4.9 in last game of the year.

Rangle is nothing like Felix. Randle can run between the tackles can wait for the lane to open and hit it, and can blitz pickup. Felix couldnt do any of that. Randle is a complete RB.

No he isn't, which is why you think you would need to pair him with Cobb, Davis, or whoever else you mentioned. Pair him with a big back to hide his deficiencies.

We like to have at least a placeholder in place so that we can afford to go BPA to a greater extent in the draft. That's what I think Williams basically is. Similarly, if Murray had gotten hurt and Williams elevated this last season, he'd probably have jumped up the roster and been the guy with the most carries. But the ST and, early, the passing game limitations made him less of a good fit for the roster, otherwise.

I still think we'd be looking to add a back to the lineup, though, if one fell to us or a good opportunity presented itself in VFA.
