Too bad that Lawrence kid turned out to be such a bust.

You don't intentionally draft backups bottom of 1 or top of 2.

These guys can rotate off the edges.
2011 Giants had JPP, Osi, Kiwanuka and Tuck who could all rush off the edges. Need to keep fresh legs on the field.

No McClain???

I like the Graham signing. Don't like signing a 32 year old CB to a FA contract.

I don't know much about the players drafted but I like the emphasis on DL. My only concern is you gotta do more than use a 5th rounder on Murrays replacement at RB. Sure you may get lucky there but that's a huge gamble on a component that's the foundation of the team's overall success.

I don't know what will happen with McClain. It's a tough one. I hope we do resign him but I recall him stating he had to see what our situation looked like before he makes his mind up about resigning. Not sure if Rod's status for next yr will have anything to do with his decision.

I can see Randle and Dunbar taking more snaps next season. Woods would start off 3rd or 4th on depth chart depending on what Ryan Williams decides to do in offseason if he's not the starter for us.

I like Randle and Dunbar in their current respective roles. Taking more snaps is fine but you still need a lead RB especially with this team's current makeup. From what I've seen, the team would be making a critical mistake thinking they can lean on a running game with these 2 getting the bulk of the snaps. I'd be surprised if the team waits beyond the 3rd round to address RB assuming Murray is gone.

As for Williams, I've gotta see him actually active on game day and on the field before projecting what he can do as a key contributor.

if a wde is there and is rated high i do not let the fact demarcus lawrence was drafted last year deter me whatsoever.

its not like in his few games active he has shown us that he has that spot nailed down for the next few years

Rd 7- SLB Devonte Fields

Fields is a RDE in a 4-3. The fact that he didn't exactly stand out at the JuCo level this year scares me, even in the 7th round. He needs to transfer back to a D1 program, devote himself to the game, and show NFL scouts the promise he showed at TCU.

You are still drafting a backup in one. The Giants didn't do that. And you are taking a backup WDE before a starter at SDE.

Also presumes the Cowboys think nothing of guys like Gardner, Jack Crawford, and Coleman.

i am sure he was game planned against out of the rear this year though.

i think he may, as you say, go back to the FBS , but if not he is well worth a punt imo

Thw Giants still provided themselves with plenty of depth right? All of four were on the SB winning team. Who cares how they did it; they did it. You don't just stop at one. As far as Gardner and Crawford goes, neither had an impact this season. I won't play a wait and see approach on guys that aren't rated high. If Harold or any other DE can fill in that spot then and are upgrades then go for it.

I agree. Eli Harold is small and a true tweener. 34 teams will want him more than a 43 team. Marinelli likes size on his DEs. Harold is much to small and raw.

Striker? We do not need a LB that early if we resign McClain and Durant.

You can say who cares all you want, but I guarantee you the Cowboys and every GM in the NFL cares about where they draft 20 snap max depth.

And every GM cares about assembling a formula that wins Championships. I'm sure the 2007, 2011 and 2013 Champions had rotations on the edge that minimized snap counts which led to rushers being fresh and the end result led to losses for Brady and Manning.

I reference these teams because they use the 4-3 like we do and I notice their ends do get rotated around.

As of now we have only one player who is projected to be a quality pass rusher in Lawrence. Granted his injury set him back a bit, with a full offseason I can see him helping along the edges. I don't see where adding another DE early would be a problem. It's not like we have someone on the roster that can rush from the edge consistently enough.

Of course adding a DE isn't a problem. Adding a backup WDE late one this year or at 34 last year is a massive problem.

If we do resign them. Durant has missed time since he's been here due to injuries. McClain can be our Mike if he is in fact resigned. Lee will move to WLB and I still can't count on him being healthy for a full season.

As far as Harold is concerned I don't see how being 6' 4, 250 lbs is a tweener when he's an inch taller than Lawrence who is listed at 251 LBS (which I think is inaccurate).

Correct. I can see Lawrence getting snaps on strongside though. He's listed at 251 lbs, but looks bigger than that. I believe he even added more muscle while rehabbing.
