I'm happy because he did not meet my expectations. The day he was hired I said he'd be here 6 years and win 2 Super Bowls. I had that much faith in him. It was misplaced. I haven't been happy with the yearly 2-3 finish to every season. Especially when the defense plays worse every single year.
I find it hard to fathom how it could play into his hands any better than it did. Especially this year. He has had cap room to work with and good draft picks. Yet we still can't win a playoff game?
My apologies for my high standards, but that simply isn't good enough.
He did bail at the wrong time. The team has more potential in 2007 than it ever has in his tenure. But the decision was his and I am fine with it. He didn't have to go. He decided he couldn't do it any more. It's right that he should leave if he feels that way.
It seems pretty clear to me that he stuck around past the point of caring. That's why the team is far superior in 2006 to the 2003 squad yet has lesser results.
Thanks for replying. Much more coherent this time.
