Man alive.

I think I woke up in the Twilight zone...or maybe in Bizarro Superman world.

Some of the very same people that were celebrating Bill being gone because he just did not get the job done.

Are making excuses or ok with the possible hire of NORV TURNER.

A HC that does not have 1/10th the coaching history of the Tuna.

I guess they forgot about the Tuna changing the laughing stock of the league (at the time) Patriots around. I guess they forget him turning the Jets around, I guess they forget about him making the boys better.

Yet they are willing to dismiss Norv Turners HC record, they are willing to dismiss mutliple players from different teams saying he was basically not a good HC because he got ran over.

We got one guy on here saying he would be ok with Dave Campo being HC again.

PLEASE...someone wake me from this nightmare.

I have heard time and time and time again from some of these posters that we should not settle for mediocre...yet we are talking about hiring just that.

I would rather hire a young guy, there are some out there right now believe it or not, or just give the gig to Jason now and be done with it.

This is just crazy the lengths that people are going to ok norv while bashing bill in the past.

Honestly ...am I secretly on candid camera...OK...where are you Fundt...haha you got me.

:clap2:

I'm sure it has. I haven't been party to it, so I have no idea why you want to discuss it with me.

When you have to use Tom Landry in an analogy or comparison (not of how great tom became later) than I say you a party to it.

If you would have just stuck with...I don't Like it, I don't want it, but I understand it is for Tony and that is it....then I would a better off with you in this matter.

But coming in and starting in the thread like that...yes you are in that party.

I just dont understand how some of these people dont understand that you cant always win with the cards you are dealt.

Norv is one of the best if not the best when it comes to coaching Quarterbacks.

Its amazing what a team with a good Quarterback can do with any coach.

You guys want to sit here and tell me Sean Payton is coach of the year and sitting in the NFC Championship game if he gets bad play from his Quarterback? I think not. Is he still a good coach? Of course.

I think with the talent we have and the good group of guys we have in the locker room Norv will have success here because he is a great X's and O's guy and one of the best if not the best Quarterback coach in the NFL.

Just him being here for 2 years to work with Romo is going to make Tony a better Quarterback.

Im a big Norv guy and i've always felt the type of offense he brings to the table is the best way to win at any level.

With all due respect, your article is one shoddy piece of journalism.
No where in there do you even make a case for why people are upset for this hiring and you completely fail to even show our side of the issue.

Here are a couple facts since you and your brethren in the media are too lazy to research for your selves:

1) Turner has a .412 record as a head coach.
2) The reason for his firing in DC was because he couldn’t win the close games and his record of losing games by 3 points or less was horrible.
3) Even the HOF receiver Jerry Rice recently commented on what little control he had over the Raiders. Commenting that Woodson and others would show up late to meetings and Norv wouldn’t do a thing.
4) Since his time in Dallas he’s had 2, count them 2, offenses to be in the top 10 in terms of scoring. WOW! Real offensive genius!
5) In his 2 years in Oakland, he won 1, count it 1, game against an AFC West opponent. I’m sure Gibbs, Reid and Coughlin are just quaking thinking about this coaching genius.
6) We’re basically hiring a mentor to mentor a mentor. We’re hiring Turner to mentor Garrett who will mentor Romo? That makes sense. I thought we were done with the rebuilding process?

The guy is a loser. Plain and simple and this franchise is making a serious mistake in this hire. All the while, the media is fawning over the good ol’ days because you yearn to have some coach who actually gives a crap about what you write or think unlike Parcells who thought that each and every one of you were a joke.

Get real and open your eyes. You’re so quick to ride Parcells out of town yet you’re so quick to also welcome one of the biggest failures in coaching history back to Dallas with open arms.

But, what do I know. I’m just some 35 year old guy who’s been a fan of the team for 24 years and travels once a year to see the team play somewhere. I’m just a fan who looks at records and comments from HOF players about what an utter failure Norv has been. I’m just a guy who thinks it’s utterly pathetic that we’re hiring someone who’s one MAJOR plus in any article that’s written is that he introduced Troy Aikman at the HOF and was part of the glory years of the early 90’s.

I’m just a fan who wants to know: What have you done, Norv, in your past to deserve this job? Absolutely NOTHING

And I repeat: What have the Dallas Cowboys come to when Norval Eugene Turner is the best one to become HC?

Dan Snyder and Al Davis fire him so we like him!!!!!!!!!!

Thats why the Commanders had the best QB's in the NFL in the 90's.

If he is not the coach you want and even if you can understand it.

Than how can you go through with some of the lame comparisons and excuses to justify it?

Also...if Norv is brought in here to make Romo better...what was the use of bringing in Jason? Is norv going to tutor jason to tutor Tony?

IF we are just bringing in norv to hold the fort for Jason...why could we not do the same with another coach?

I just can not fathom how these excuses and comparisons are doled out in support of Norv.

You say it does not mean you like it or care for it.

Why not just say it without all of the other excuses and comparisons?

I don't see the need for you, or others, to go that far if the only reason you understand it is because of Romo.

Once again...I think I woke up in the twilight zone.
I am NOT justifying anything BP. I'm not making excuses for Norv. I just don't support the witch hunt either.

Have you seen me shilling for anyone or against anyone? I want Garrett, but do you see me making reference to it in every thread? Or starting new threads? Have you seen me start a single thread about a candidate that I just hate the thought of?

Please, by all means look at my profile and under threads started by. I am so tired of the noise that I attempted to start a thread about Walt Garrison's book just so there was something to laugh at. I've spent my time on the projects I'm working on for the forum. I'm not standing on a rooftop or even a soapbox preaching my manifesto of coaching and who we should hire.

He's probably going to be our HC. We both know it. If you think for one minute that I am excited about it then it was a wasted thought. I'm not. I'm resigned to the fact that what I want will never happen.

So, in the meantime I figured I'd just amuse myself by taking a stance opposite of the shills. If that equals the Twilight Zone for you then call me Rod Serling I guess.

I do see what Jerry is hoping to achieve. Maybe I never should have admitted that, but I've nevere wanted people to see me as short sighted. Vanity thing going on.

Ahh, but, I think you missed one point...Romo is not the only player on the Cowboys. There are other players that need managed as well, and from hearing prior Norv players talk about him, he does not get that part done!

Remember, this is not just a team of Romo's...the Cowboys have some T.O.s on the team too, and some others that need motivation as well...

If Norv is ever going to have a chance to suceed in the NFL it would be with the 2007 Dallas Cowboys. A team loaded with talent (young QB, elite WRs, solid RB group), with a couple glaring holes, lots of draft picks, and cap room. However I can't endorse him being our HC.

Lets not make excuses, he hasn't got it done. Anywhere.

Tell me which other coach got Gus Frerotte to the Pro Bowl.

You don't think if he stays in San Fran that he can turn Smith into something? Naivete is humorous.

We have no clear water for the fish...at least not in my area.

Again, it wasn't one that I have made, so how can I discuss it with you?

What is it you wanted from me? Should I say, "comparing Norv to Belichick is ridiculous?"

Okay, there, I said it without even knowing the context it was used in. I hope you're relieved of the burden of my non interest in a topic I am not arguing.
