LOL

I offended you with that?

Toughen up buttercup.

Ummm...

Hostile...

I think you need to stop patting yourself on the back...

I was being facetious...(definition below)...

You, for some reason, think you rattled me but you, for some reason, failed to realize that I didn't comment on the Landry comparison so you're kind of mistaking me for someone else...

So, you need to go back and see who's thread you did something to...

Whatever that means...

The thing I hate is I truely believe Parcells is better than every HC canidate we have interviewed so far. I truely believe that if BP was here next year we would be in the SB. I also believe that one muffed hold and one bad play by Glenn (which Parcells had nothing to do with) did not happen and most would be singing a different song. Even if we lost to the Bears.

I do not understand why we would hire Garrett, whom everyone seems to believe, is the next rising star for offense and not pair him with someone that is great on D. If we are hiring Garrett because he is so bright with offense then we should hire Wade as HC because of Defense.

Personally, and bash away if you must, I think Jerry should beg Bill to come back one more year. Then we can go after Fisher, Cowher, or Lovie. Any of the three would be better then Norv or Phillips.

Just my opinion.

I think Jerry did everything in his power to have Bill stay.

I wish it did not come to this but to be honest if he, Bill, felt he could not do it again than I would not beg him or pressure him to do it.

I may not like the Norv idea but at least I know he wants to do it...with Bill whether he wanted to or not he knows he just does not have it in him.

I certainly am not going to join the .412 says it all band.

What if I dress up as a police officer and carry a .38 or .45 instead of a .412?

Would that make a difference. :p: ;)

If you look real close at my reply to Catch17 you'll see this little icon :D exactly after the claim that I got your thread flying.

A line or two below it you will see a "j" followed by a "/" followed by a "k." In Internet lingo this means..."just kidding."

This time....;)

j/k <<< "Pop Quiz Hotshot"...without looking back at the post, what does this mean?

Oh, and "Pop Quiz Hotshot" is a reference to the movie "Speed" and a line by the bomber to the cop.

I gotta explain everything these days.

^^^Summer, that doesn't work.^^^

Thus concludes today's lesson of looking for a deeper meaning behind a thought. Tune in next week when we will discuss the meaning of "The Holy Grail."

Dressing up like a cheerleader (we've all seen the picture) and now you want to dress up like a police officer? What's next, a leather little bo peep costume?

You're a sick, twisted and kinky individual.

I can't argue with the part in bold. The rest of it I am no longer so sure of. His unwillingness to adapt is an issue with this team's progress. That seems obvious to me. It is a sad epilogue to a brilliant career. I truly wish it had ended differently for him.

Wow...how am I supposed to get work done when threads like these come along? Good arguments on both ends.

I'm of the opinion that there needs to be some shred of talent or direction in order for a coach to implement his style to the team.

Norv never had this chance. He used all of his experience and know-how on Heath Shuler, however Heath just wasn't that good. After the Heath experiment, Danny Boy bought every expensive has-been, never will-be to quarterback Norv's offense.

We all know how Jeff George responds to coaching. How many skins does Gus Frerotte have on the wall? Brad Johnson was very successful under Turner...throwing for over 4000 yards in 1999...one botched snap from the NFC title game.

Now the Dave Campo argument. I agree that Jerry meddled a great deal during the Campo era as with the Gailey era, but for how many HC positions has Dave been interviewed? Now, Dave did have little to no talent on this team during his tenure, but shouldn't he be getting some looks for a HC job if it was all Jerry's fault for the team's failure to improve?

I'm with Hos in thinking that this team is Romo's and it's Jerry's top priority to get someone in here to fine tune Tony and get him ready for the future. Norv has shown that given the opportunity, he can showcase QB's.

Maybe Bill would have. I don't know. Maybe he wouldn't have lasted 1 year, like Shell. Again, I don't know.

I am one who is happy Parcells is gone. I feel his teams under achieved.

I don't believe that Norv is necessarily the answer, but I can't honestly sit here and say for 100% certainty that we will regress if he gets the gig.

I happen to think if Assistant Coaches are given assignments and entrusted with them that the team can learn. That equals growth.

Truth be told Parcells bailed out at the wrong time IMO. I respect his decision and even applaud it in a way.

People constantly want to compare him to Campo. They talk about how we have much better talent now than we did in the Campo years, and thank you Bill. I agree with that. We do have better talent now.

Can you explain to me why Parcells had better success with Campo's team than with the one he built?

I can. It's called suffocating it.

This is a VERY confusing post that goes all over the map to say exactly what I don't really know.

How you can be happy Parcells left and say he bailed at the wrong time sounds contradictory.

I'm not going to bite on the Campo question, that looks like a invitation to cover some ground that's been covered pretty extensively already and it's off point. As a HC, Norv's good years are worse by a long shot than BP's good years and his bad years are worse than BP's bad years. BP will be dead and buried and be better than Norv. Norv has a pretty good resume as a OC and a track record of failure as a HC. That's the problem.

is going to keep the seat warm for Jason OR Mike, if Mike is hired as the DC. He's not going to be around for the long term and Jerruh knows this. Just like the offense, as is currentely built, is not going to be around long term either. The two starting receivers are in their 30's. The two starting guards are defensive tackles' dreams. The left tackle needs to step up his play or else he'll need to be replaced after next season, and the right tackle is a free agent this year.

Coaching the Deadskins when it was a rebuilding job, or coaching the Raidus at any point, is not really a barometer to gauge a career. Norv, if hired, will be the type of coach who can keep the Cowboys in contention ( remember the NFC is so wide open that almost anybody can win it at any time ) while at the same time grooming Jason ( or Mike ) for the job.

As for those of you who say that Jason was hired to tutor Romo, well, Jason was hired to be the offensive coordinator first. Remember that while Haley designed the passing plays, Sparano designed the running plays, it was Palmer who was the QB coach, meaning the offensive coordinators ( yea, both of them ) while working closely with Romo, were really in charge of the whole offense and not just developing Romo. That's the job that Garrett was hired for, and not just to develop Romo, if he's going to do that at all. Now, with Norv around, Garrett might spend a little more time with Romo, while Norv picks up the slack in designing game plans, but Garrett's job is to oversee the whole offense first.

I think Norv is perfect for this job, at this point. Not that Philips would be a bad hire either, or Rivera for that matter, but once Jerruh made his choice with Garrett ( or Mike ) as the future HC, I think a vet coach who's not going to be around for a long time, feels secure enough to develop his future replacement, while still having the ability to develop and take this team as far as it can go, is the best way to go.

It took me a while to get back to this. Sorry. Damn work. They actually expect me to do it sometimes.

I'm happy because he did not meet my expectations. The day he was hired I said he'd be here 6 years and win 2 Super Bowls. I had that much faith in him. It was misplaced. I haven't been happy with the yearly 2-3 finish to every season. Especially when the defense plays worse every single year.

I find it hard to fathom how it could play into his hands any better than it did. Especially this year. He has had cap room to work with and good draft picks. Yet we still can't win a playoff game?

My apologies for my high standards, but that simply isn't good enough.

He did bail at the wrong time. The team has more potential in 2007 than it ever has in his tenure. But the decision was his and I am fine with it. He didn't have to go. He decided he couldn't do it any more. It's right that he should leave if he feels that way.

It seems pretty clear to me that he stuck around past the point of caring. That's why the team is far superior in 2006 to the 2003 squad yet has lesser results.

I know you are not saying norv will be as good as Tom.

However one thing you did not factor into your takes.

Tom was starting from scratch with an expansion team, and this was before expansion teams got some of the perks of todays expansion teams.

Norv was not. They may not have been great teams but there IS a difference.

I would call the Raiders an expansion team and the skins would be a cut above an expansion team.

Not that I am all for Turner, but come on, When you work with Davis and know your powerless to bench Woodson, what are you gunna do. Turner was stupid fopr accepting that job, but you cant hold that against him. Thats a coach killer position if ever there was one.

Turners not as bad as you guys say either. Personally, I would like him, just cause hes not Parcells, but if the coordinators cant use all their weapons all the time, it does not matter who the coach is.

This is an exciting time in Cowboy fandom. I an starting to think that Jones will wait for Rivera to interview. I think its possible that he could go outside and hire a Singeltary or Ryan or Rivera. I hear and read the Turner updates. So far Turners back in SF and no pressers scheduled. I have no idea how this will play out, but I plan on letting it play out and then watching the coaching staff take shape and lets watch the draft and FA and see where their going. We all could be tickled pink by July or we could already know we are doomed to 5-11 again. But no matter what, we will never see Parcells and his old man shorts up to his belly again. Thats reason enough to celebrate for now. Lets worry bout July in july and till then, enjoy the tuna-less world we live in.

An expansion team 2 years removed from winning the AFC. Its such a coach killer position that Gruden cashed in from his stint with the Raiders.
