I really think we are going WR now, Someone of Ginn/Jarrett/Bowe/Meachem is going to be there. DB in the 2nd.

I don't know if Flo will play another 3 or 4 years do you? I guess we should not get a WR either.
Bingo! Can't believe the nerve of some people. They don't want us to take an O-lineman in the 1st cuz he would be an "expensive back-up" BUT in the same breath, advocate taking a WR who would ALSO be an expensive back-up.....

I like your thinking! However, since our starting five are now set, we'll probably go for someone who can step-in as a starter w/ our 1st rounder. FS is my probable guess.....Reggie Nelson.
I guess it would depend on what Phillips' assesment of Pat Watkins is. And or if they are wanting to move Henry to FS.

I think it's a bad guess.

Stephen Jones said they didn't want to spend big money in free-agency on a FS -- I doubt they want to spend a 1st round pick on one either, which will entail a lot of big money on it's own.

With the talk of Stephen and Jerry Jones it's pretty apparent that Henry will not be going to FS -- they've really backed off of that position. Stephen also said they didn't want to spend big money of the FS spot so I doubt they would burn a 1st on a FS either.

We have at least one contingency plan for Adams.

We just bought it in Leonard Davis.

WR isn't comparable. Owens and Glenn could both be gone in a season.

Can you say with any certainty anyone in our starting five on the offensive line will be? There is plenty of time to take depth for the line. We already have McQuistan and Proctor, who are our projects. I can see us adding a few more, but not in the first round. Not unless the value is undeniable.
Flo and Colombo (ticking time bomb w/ his knee) could go at anytime just like Glenn and TO could be gone. We also have Austin and Hurd as "projects" just like McQ & Proctor are. There are just as many questions about our OL (even w/ the signing of Davis and Colombo) as there are about our WRs.....

And they probably shouldn't. I know that Watkins has all the talent you need as a FS, he just has to put it all together this year, + we could look in the 2nd or 3rd rd if we just had to have one.

But now this is really starting to look like Receiver in my mind in the 1st or a serious trade.

SJ may not want to spend big $$$ on a FS BUT if Nelson was still available at #22, I don't think he could pass on him. Nelson would step in and be a starter from day one and solve our FS issue. How do we pass on someone like that?

Also, would JJ be willing to spend big $$$ on a WR who would be a back-up rather than a starter at FS?

Draft Blalock.
Our line would be a scary collection of road graters.

I sure wouldn't mind... If that happened, we could put the best player from training camp at LG or RT...

Leonard Davis has played guard and tackle... He could probably play right tackle as well... Furthermore, Blalock has played guard and tackle too... Imagine the possibilities.

Realistically now, Dallas probably has the opportunity to just go out and draft the BPA in April...

But, as I said... I sure wouldn't mind two Longhorns on the O-line;)

Good points.

I'd like to see us grab a corner who "could" play FS myself. Not necessarily have to, but could.

Oh I think Nelson is a wonderful player. But I'm more scared to death of our depth/age at corner.

I'm starting to hope that we trade down and get more picks for either this draft or next.

drafting a guard would be good. but drafting a backup in round 1? why? and not to mention he wouldnt even be anywhere near the BPA at that point. IMo this would be another wasted pick by the cowboys.

Sorry I am late to the party.

The Colombo signing is certainly a sign that Dallas will not be targeting an offensive lineman in the first round.

Boy, there is a #$%^$%^# surprise - seeing how Dallas hasn't drafted an offensive lineman in the first round since 1981 (Howard Richards).

The only first round offensive lineman who really panned out for the Cowboys was John Niland in 1966. Why isn't he on the Ring of Honor?

Back to 2007 - I would not mind Dallas targeting Manual Ramirez in the second round. He is a mauler also.

For the draft though, you have got to go corner in the first round. Chris Houston, Aaron Ross, and Daymeion Hughes could fit the bill here.

Good names.

Right at this very moment I'm wishing for a trade-down and grab more picks either this year or next.

Now you're talking!

Heck why not.

As it shapes up now it's doubtful we could pick anyone in the first round that is going to start for the team in '07.
