I was expounding.I'm not sure what your argument is. I think Jones is overrated and would never pay him the money he will command in free agency. However, there are teams out there reportedly willing to pay $18 million a year for him. Go to an Eagles' forum, they are drooling over the thought of signing him. I would just like for Dallas to somehow get in position to trade Jones and take advantage of some of these teams that seem to be all in for Byron Jones. It is doubtful that it could happen because we need Dak and Cooper both signed so we can slap the franchise tag on Jones. We have a player that teams want/covet and I would just like a chance to take advantage of it.
Just pay all 3 of them.
That's posturing. Releasing Crawford and Fleming gets you to ~$90m cap.All you need to be is a casual fan to make that claim. lol If it was going to be as easy as you think at least one of those players would already be signed. Not having the transition tag is going to make it more difficult which is why the Cowboys are letting Jones test free agency. They know they'll lose him. Listening to Stephen about a week ago he talked about the challenges the Cowboys will face getting all these players signed.

By cap hit:
Dak - $35m
Amari - $19m
Jones - $16m
Quinn - $15m
By my math, that's $85m, and it's really, really easy. There is a huge difference between not wanting to pay, and not being able to. Dallas just doesn't want to.
Yes it is that easy, they just don't find value at that price. It’s really really easy to come up with that sitting on your couch. It’s not that simple or Jones wouldn’t be allowed to test free agency.

The next CBA is irrelevant as to getting under the cap this year, for those 3 guys. It's just a question of whether or not Jones find value in the contracts those players command. The math is easy.No it’s not and Stephen Jones pointed it out in an interview over a week ago. The new CBA will have an impact on signing these players.
