My take on Drew Henson. Why the hell not, right?

It's not about interceptions with Drew Henson, it's about him being absolutely lost at the QB position. He's lost.

Kinda like Romo looked earlier this year, and every season before this year. But yet you keep wanting to give him a reprieve and continously dump on Henson. Romo has improved and was given the chance to improve. Only took THREE YEARS look remotely comfortable as you like to put it. You are ready to discard Henson after only his second season with the team.

It's why Henson signed a multi-year deal and Romo has a two year contract. How about rooting for Drew because he is a Dallas Cowboy and stop with the ridiculous agenda?

LMAO!

First, it was Henson will devolop over the offseason and beat out Bledsoe this year etc etc.

Now he can't beat out Romo ...

And it's "game set match" ...

That, my friends, is funny.

What's even funnier is, the joke is on you.

I'm the one laughing.

Where's your precious, silver-spoon, hand-me-the-job QB now?

How did he play Saturday? I must have missed him ...

I think it's just that we're not all that comfortable with the 1st string QB that we all argue so much about the 2nd and 3rd and the 'qb of the future'.... just a thought...

I think people are all over Henson because we had Troy for a decade followed by failed experiments with two other former baseball players.

To me, Henson is different than Carter or Chutch. Henson has all the physical gifts that it takes to be a superstar quarterback in the NFL, but he started all of nine games in college and then played baseball for three years.

It's going to take him a little more time than usual, but I think Henson will be starting for America's team in a year or two, just about the time the rest of the team is ready to contend for the Super Bowl.

Would you have released Peyton Manning after his rookie year when he threw, what, 28 interceptions? Elway was an INT machine his first three years in the League. Favre had a really rough few years to start his career. But Indy, Denver and Green Bay stuck with their young QBs because they had talent (and were high first-round picks).

Henson has the talent of a first-rounder. He just has a lot of learning to do. And although I believe that we'll eventually see him demonstrate his talent on the field, I don't know any more than anyone else if he'll be an NFL starter. I'm sure willing to give him time to get a shot at it though.

Here is my take........Romo knew that his only shot to make the team this year was to beat out Hesnon for the 2nd QB position. Had Romo not beaten out Henson, he would be gone because they don't have a whole lot invested in him and he was an UDFA.

So kudos to Romo for seeing what was a head of him and taking the bull by the horns. I do bellieve that the coaching staff saw something in him becasue thay gave him a contract comparable to other 2nd team QB's.

I have been a Romo fan since his rookie year when they still trained here in SA. Even then he was the 2nd best QB, passing Hutch before TC ended. If you recalled there some talk about playing Romo as a rookie.

As for Henson, to me this TC is eerily similar to Hutch's second year. HUTCH TOO HAD ALL THE PHYSICAL TOOLS, except for the mental part. He came into camp having bought the cheese, and digressed in his second season. I hope I am wrong, I like Henson, but he may be nothing more than a glorified Hutch. He played even fewer games than Hutch in college, and his layoff was about the same as Hutch.

The problem I have with Henson is that honestly I can't see that he has improved, I also can't see how the scouts raved about him making every throw there is at his tryout yet his motion is aparently crappy, I mean if this guy has crappy mechanics what does he bring to the table, he doesn't seem to be able to do the other things like read defenses, look for alternate receivers, etc., I think we need to find another scrap heap veteran and give them a shot. I don't have a problem with bargain hunting for QB's the problem is we quit hunting, why not bring in at least one each year, when your trolling you got to keep churning them because thats how you get lucky and find one, at the least why don't we bring in a fourth for a look see if only for a practice player, a couple of our former scrap heap guys are at least still around the NFL......

This poster has it right. He hasn't improved. You can't say you've noticed imporvement and be being truthful. Even his throwing motion still looks horrid.

Your words not mine. First off, I have never said Henson beats out Bledsoe. I have been pulling for Bledsoe from day one. Your agenda is very clear banned. I wish you could just be a fan of all the Cowboy players rather than dumping on one to serve this ridiculous agenda. Even your sigs are childish. Not sure I have ever seen you with a sig that has something to do with the Cowboys in general. Just mud slinging.

Also let me point out that this thread had nothing to do with Romo or the back up position. Rack made his own observation and then YOU came along (banned) and did what you and/or Nors always do... serve your agendas by making snide remarks in hopes you can start a flame war, completely hijacking the thread.

Worthless.

You're obviously COMPLETELY missing my point. You aren't even close to getting it.

I see what you're trying to say, but it's a poor analogy. Clearly, if you've watched him play, he only gets those 2x2 plays called into him ... and he can't even execute those.

Romo looked better last preseason than Henson does this preseason. So, like I said, it's a poor analogy.

And if Bill did not give Romo another opertunity many of you would not be able to sing his praises today. Romo did not look that great last year but has shown improvement.

He looked better in preseason last year. That's why he was named #2 in the beginning of the year.

By this analogy, if you really believe it, Henson got worse from last year when he was ahead of Romo at the second half of the season.

It just doesn't make sense. They split time last year. Henson ended the season and #2 (my guess is it was pressure from Jerruh), but now he's gotten worse than Romo from last year when he was ahead ...

I thought Romo looked better even last year. That's where people got so irritaed w/ me ...

I was of the impression that Parcells really thought Henson was a clown and Romo is the glimmer in Bill's eye.

That's what I said and that's how it is today also.

You're right. Henson may be just another Hutch. But I'm willing to give him another year to find out. Don't get me wrong. I'm not a "Henson supporter." I'd just as soon see Romo develop and start in Dallas for the next ten years. I just think Henson is immensely talented and want to see him get his three-year shot.

Banned: Carter more talented than Henson? Don't make me laugh.

No sir. Romo looked better than Henson last year. And he didn't look lost. He still had that "moxie" that he's shown why Bill used that word.

Don't forget, Romo didn't start playing football until his Jr. year in High School. That's another reason he went to a small school. But he has never looked lost behing center.

It's why Henson signed a multi-year deal and Romo has a two year contract. How about rooting for Drew because he is a Dallas Cowboy and stop with the ridiculous agenda?

My agenda is an abundance of wins for the Dallas Cowboys. The depth chart at QB is key to that agenda. At this point, it's pretty clear that Romo is the glimmer in Bill's eye ... Bledsoe is the twinkle ... Henson is an eye booger.

When the opportunity came as to who would play when Vinny went down it was Henson not Romo so this ideal that Tony was well ahead of Henson last year is BS. I like what I have seen out of Romo this off-season and he has shown improvement in his play. Giving Henson time just as Romo was afforded time I don't think is asking too much. With the reg season fast approaching I'm getting less concerned with all this bantering back and forth regarding 2nd and 3rd team QB's. Lastly I still don't get where you come up with Parcells thinks Henson is a clown those are your words not Parcells

Well, I think the other burning question is, "Who's better Jim Sorgi or Tom Arth?"

I can't believe some people think Sorgi is the better of the two.

What imbeciles!

The Sorgites are friggin blind; they really are. They're agenda driven fools.

Sounds like a QB who's developing to me. But I'm not of the school that figures the guy has to be a pro bowl player his first few weeks or he's a bust.

It's funny how certain people had no problem with Romo developing over the past 3 years, but don't seem to want to give Henson even 2 seasons to grow. Even though Romo hasn't developed into a starter yet.

Funny what I remember was through TC and the first two preseason games last year Parcells was asked in every PC, if he was going to cut the struggling Romo to bring in a vet QB.

Darn, I must have just imagined that 'cause Romo was just lighting it up last year.
