It will be interesting to see how Jerry will try to justify keeping Jason on after a third consecutive divisional collapse, especially since he puppeteered an entire coaching staff around the HC at the end of last season.

Sorry stash but 8-8 or better (and possibly even 7-9) and Garrett is here next year

You are thinking logically and forgetting that you are talking about one of the most irrational and delusional people out there
Jerry has too much ego and cache tied up in that decision
Firing Garrett would be an admission that he does not know how to pick a HC and his ego could not take the hit

We'll see then.

I see no way he can get anyone to pay for another year of this.

It'd be interesting to know how the team's revenues behaved during the Campo years. Or under Parcels when we started Vinny Testaverde.

Parcells at least brought hope and a record of success.

With this coach, we get neither.

If that is who he wants as HC of his team, why should he feel the need to justify it?

He always seems compelled to justify his actions, probably more so than any other owner. That's what a weakly radio show will do for you. In fact, less than a month ago, he did just that:

After already saying during the summer that this is not an "Armageddon year" for coach Jason Garrett, Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones reiterated Thursday that Garrett will be his coach in 2014.
"I'm disappointed that we don't have a better record, but he has got us in position to win the division and has got a team here that I firmly believe has the ability to be one of the better-playing teams at the end," Jones said to reporters at Thursday's practice.

The question is, if Jason fails to win the division and we are not one of the better teams playing in the end..... again, what will Jerry say about his decision to keep Jason?

You sir, are correct. Jerry can, and will spin our final 7-9 or 8-8 record as a victory. The same garbage about the players and NFL gurus all being "high" on Garrett will be brought out. The injury excuse will make another appearance. The "process" and how it is slowly creating a new legacy/mentality at Valley Ranch will be proclaimed...... again. We didn't go 5-11 where Jerry had no choice but cry uncle. 7-9, although average, isn't atrocious and the whole, "we are a good draft from 10-6" mantra will be spouted all off-season.

I've resigned myself to another season of Garrett's clueless leadership. However, I'm betting next season his prolonged incompetence will result in a record so bad even Jerry will, again, have to cry uncle and bring in a coach with a plan.

I would like to answer "nothing' but we all know that isn't his style.
