My "the sky is not falling" thread

I don't disagree about Belichick. But I'm going to ask you what I asked all the Romo haters I ever ran into (which was of course every Cowboys fan until last season): Who is going to replace him (Garrett in this case)? Belichick isn't coming to Dallas. Cowher isn't coming out of retirement. Gruden is an idiot and not on the market. Everyone else is a retread or unproven. "Anyone" is not an answer, just like it wasn't for Romo. Like the Romo haters, you're a fool if you think "anyone" would be better able to deal with the spotlight of the Dallas Cowboys on top of the micromanagement of Jerrah and the demanding nature of HC in the NFL in general.

And you're a "fool", you're own words, if you think that Garrett is in any way irreplaceable. He's done nothing in 5 years doing things his way, and shown little to no improvement in any of the areas people have looked for.

This thread is a poorly conceived, poorly supported, poorly thought-out mess.

Three or four years ago, you were right. We had a franchise quarterback in the prime of his career, but Jerry decided to waste him on a coach who wasn't ready.

Yeah but I think you just look at our roster and you see some great pieces out there.

The pass defense is dreadful but everything else is fine for the most part talent wise.

I didn't say "irreplaceable". Those are your words. " Who is the replacement?" is what I ask, and so far all I've heard is wishful thinking or worse.

The fact is, this team wasnt much better even when Romo was healthy. We barely beat a Giants team with a healthy Romo and should have lost that game. Screw this teams effort in 2015.

It's a safe bet we would've been 8-8 at worst with Romo.

I personally think we were a 10-6 at worst team this year with him healthy.

Fans see what they want to see. It takes a special coach to win under Jerry. Garrett isnt that coach.

Last coach to do that was Switzer. Although you could make a case for Gailey, he got a bum rap. Wade got bounced after going 13-3 the previous season. Jason should be gone after this. But he won't.

I'd probably get a lot of downvotes for this thread if that were an option, but fortunately it isn't.

I'm as disappointed as anyone this season. I had completely retreated from sports years ago outside of Dallas Cowboys football and UNC Basketball, and was as hyped as anyone about this season only to be crushed like a clavicle in Week 2. While I don't think the Coryell system is as bad as some here, it definitely needs some "updating", and I thought Linehan was the guy to get it done. Maybe, maybe not, but I think judging the coaches based on super conservative playing with bad QBs is an incorrect approach to analysis.

Despite problems across the team this year, I believe they are all easily fixable in the offseason, and that the lack of a top 10 QB is being handwaved by the boobirds on the board. This D is young and hungry, and Marinelli has showed he is willing to dial up the pressure as he has confidence in both his players and the other side of the ball. Garrett and Linehan aren't BB, but no one else in the league is either. I believe we have the best we are going to get with Jerry alive, and that it's good enough to be commanding the division next year and into the future with Romo or an understudy in command. Of course, all of this is contingent on getting a legitimate understudy.

Some guys on here want to discount Garrett's non-gameday abilities. You can learn time management and you can tweak your Xs and Os. Organizational and motivational skills are nearly impossible to teach. Id rather have someone born with the latter.

You speakith with wisdom.

"Anybody" is, in fact, an acceptable answer in this case.

Your hero has done nothing to establish being a capable NFL head coach. Given 5 years, boatloads of cash spent on players, multiple changes of position coaches and quality draft picks, Garrett has shown himself to be a failure.

No replacement candidate requires anything more than a heartbeat to stand on equal footing.

It would take a guy that stands up to Jerry and runs the team to truly mold this team and the last guy like that was removed.

It's fixable if you have a competent head football coach. We have Jason Garrett- who has set a new standard for ineptitude that is rivaled by only Rich Kotite in my generation.

I have lost all faith in Jason. All of it.

Giants, Philly, Atlanta, New Orleans, Giants, Philly, Tampa, Miami, Washington.

There's 9 right there with two to play, and 5-0 in the division.

Playoffs are wrapped up and we're looking at a matchup against Seattle or Minn at home.

Maybe or maybe not........purely hypothetical

Doesn't matter at this point

The only time this team has has any success is when they move Garrett out of the equation.

I can pretty much guarantee you that if Linehan was making that call, Moore would have played a long time back. He was under Linehan for three years and already looked light years better running the plays than the other guys.

Yet Linehan is more likely to take the fall than Garrert
