I’ve never seen another Qb in the league being paid 40 million a year and utilized by throwing so many safe, high percentage passes……25 attempts and 190 net passing.

can’t do that all season long, especially in the playoffs and have success. His performance was no better than Cooper Rushs 200+ yard games……and it should be, against the WORST defense in the league

Relax, it was his first game back. He got better throughout the game. It seems like some of you want Dak to fail and that’s weird that you’re here. Let’s not act like Rush was killing it because honestly he sucked his last 2 games.

That's an 8.3 ypa...that's pretty good.

Rush best game was 8.3...lmao. his other games were 4-7.

Allen is averaging 8.3 himself(highest ypa in the league btw) Guess he is taking it too safe?

That's 36 attemps for 300 yards...that is actually the best in the league.

Qb play is down big time across the league. It's not just dak.

This was a good win, not ugly in the least. For this team to go deeper into the playoffs, this is how we need to run the offense. Run, run, and throw high percentage passes. Chew the clock and sic that nasty D on the opposition's O. Granted, our O got off to a slow start, but they put the game away at the end with the help of our D forcing TOs.

Enjoy the win for goodness sake.

My wish is that the next seasons Cowboys don’t have Dakota or Cooper as the starting qb. They are both limited but at least Cooper Rush isn’t going to soak up over 20% of the teams salary cap next season.

“are we better off at the quarterback position than we were 8 years ago”……if you think yes, try to put the 1-3 playoff record under Rayne out of your mind and think just happy thoughts.

we let go of a quarterback that was playing at a higher level than Dakota is currently playing at, including the abysmal Bucs performance……he’s regressing and is damaged goods. The story of his durability is a myth.

I give Dak's performance today a 6/10, but it was the first full game he's played since January so I will cut him some slack. We need more like 250 yards and 2 TDs from him if this team is going to be a legitimate championship threat.

It's not like we can get out of his contract so beating the dead horse to death 7 days a week does us no good.

Looked like defense, run game and fortunate turnovers were the recipe for the other overpaid bus driver to win a game too.
We want him to drive the bus, thankfully D and run game can take care of rest. But use the highhhhh paid to do some runs.. he could have easily had a few good one.

he would need a 10 ypa for that with only 25 passes. that is not realistic. it happens sometimes through a season, but it's not something you say your qb should do to win. burrow just threw for 500 yards with almost no misses and it was only 11 ypa...and got only 35 pts.

unless you mean they should call more pass plays? that will for sure happen if they go down a couple scores, but the lions were doing diddly poo.

he also could have passed at the goal line a couple more times to pad his td stats...is that what you want? take 2 1 yard td's from zeke and add them to dak...for 3 passing td's. woohoo, dak is good now with 3 td's 30 pass attempts and 250 yards(-50 from zeke/pollard). score is still 24-6 though.

I’m not sure how you can call this ugly. Almost no penalties. Detroit is a decent offense . Defense causes turnovers. Defense is the reason why we won this game. Oh and yes going more points
It's ugly because the Detroit defense is one of the worst and the Cowboys offense was pathetic the first half.

I missed the game but I saw some of the game on Redzone. It appears the Cowboys offense is still having lots of 3 and outs. The Cowboys stopped the run for the most part but what this defense does best is Rush the passer. The defense is built to get you down by double digits and tee off on your quarterback. You saw it vs Cincinnati, The Giants, Commanders, the Rams and Detroit. When this defense has you down by 10 points they go for the jugular. The problem with the run defense is that the offense has to play better and control the time of possession. If the offense can control the clock, we will have a Super Bowl caliber team.

And than on top of that Dak was running and jumping on his way back to the locker room with a big smile on his face while the rest of the team was stone faced like it was just another day at the office. With high emotions like that come low emotions. I really think there could something going on internally within the locker room because this team looked like they just play harder for Cooper Rush.

He did just fine his first game back from the ankle injury throwing for over 400 yards. So it's not that. But I'm not putting the blame on anyone specific because I can't pinpoint the problem. But this goes back to 2019 with these really bad first half starts. Then they wake up in the second half.

I just don't get it. It's not like the opposing team's defense is all that great, we just can't seem to get anything going. It looks like the offense is playing flat.

I see what your seeing! I'm not calling for Rush to play but it seems like the team plays harder for Rush. Dak was also holding the ball too long on 3rd down instead of getting rid of it quickly to a wide open Pollard in the flat he takes a sack. He also just looks slow with his throwing motion to his running.

It's hard to win in this league, just look what happened to the Bucs today. Just stack up wins, nobody cares how you got them come December.

Offense

-Thought the OL really struggle today. Hutchinson gave both our Tackles a lot of trouble all day long. Okudah was also very good today in both the run and the pass.
-Yes, Dak was rusty, but he improved as the game wore on.
-Biggest disappointment was the team's inability to convert many 3rd and shorts. Don't understand, why not just run Zeke up the middle, but Moore gets way too cute. Once the Cowboys got the run game going, they had sustained drives.
-Dalton Shultz is a much better receiver with Dak at QB, thought he had a quality game as a receiver.
-Penalties were an issue today, especially the presnap ones.
-The Noah Brown Fumble was huge prior to the end of the 1st half.

Defense

-Even with Swift out, the DL struggled with containing the run. They ran right down our throats late in the 3rd quarter that should of led to a TD. This continues to be a concern.
-Got a huge break when St. Brown left the game as he is their best receiver.
-Thought the Lions OL really was solid, until the Lions had to start passing to catchup. Both their Tackles were very stout.
-Sam Williams had his breakout game, with 2 sacks and a fumble recovery. He is slowly getting there.
-Parsons still has doesn't look right, think he is playing injured.
-Many killed Lve this week, but I thought he had one of his better games.
-Turnovers are why the Cowboys won this game, especially the one at the 1 yard line.

Special Teams

-Turpin almost does it every week, he is going to get a TD at some point.
These "thoughts" are a lot more in line with the game I watched than the other "thoughts" thread...

I am confused by the term, "Ugly." I believe a lot of us were talking about the fact that Detroit is much better than their record. The media confirmed Sunday before the games as well. They have a decent offense and our D kept them in check. We all should have known that Dak was going to be rusty. The question was just how rusty he'd be. As the game went on, he got better...seemed to move better as well. This is a great sign. All in all, I'll take it. Seriously, I wrote this team off after the first game this year but was pleasantly surprised on how nice the D has done and then how the offense rallied around Cooper.

Now if Moore CAN JUST STOP CALLING THOSE FREAKING GADGET PLAYS AND STOP PLACING ZEKE 10 YARDS BEHIND THE BALL ON A 3RD AND 1, I'll feel alot better...

I think we have a blocking scheme problem in Dallas. Pollard being quicker to see and hit gaps help him excel but I see a lot of problems with DC blocking schemes that if improved would open the world up for Zeke and Pollard.

Not enough time being spent learning the blocking schemes, you can really see it every time we try a screen.

Yeah, we did see some life in the offense when Rush was there. But we had big problems with him too. He throws all floaters. There is always a significant arc to all his passes. There were several passes against the Eagles that had he zipped that ball in, the Eagles defender would not be in time to break up the catch.

The other problem is his total lack of mobility. The Eagles were playing up on the WRs all game challenging Rush to go deep. He didn't have enough time in the pocket to get those passes off. I believe he would have had CD on that last play, but he got hit as he was throwing it.

I'm not a Dak fan. We have a couple of years left with Dak and this defense being what they are today. IF we win a SB, fantastic, but if not, I think we move on from Dak. Counting this year, I think we have a 3 year window. No reason to keep Dak beyond that.

But make no mistake, Dak is an upgrade over Cooper Rush. It may not be this big upgrade people hope or think it is, but it is an upgrade. We'd need a D like the '85 Bears or 2000 Ravens to win a SB with Cooper Rush.
