By December he wasn't special and was worn down from too many carries. In December his ypc was under 4.0 but did get it up tp 4.5 in the playoffs. He had over 100 more carries than any RB in the league that year.
is that a negative?

The running game still has a prominent piece to be added at a later point. Right now, and with the fullback position...the stable is very productive already.

The defense is still a major work in progress. Getting Lawrence back this next game, won't hurt anything there. Getting Scandrick back, and with the improvements of the secondary, that defense will be getting tougher through the season. There will still be a need for additions this next season on the defensive side of ball, but Smith and Tapper should help out in a rounded depth picture.

There will be money spent on keeping the players Dallas has at cornerback, and safety...come the next off season.

A defensive line consisting of Tyrone Crawford, Maliek Collins, Terrell McClain, and DeMarcus Lawrence...well, projects and is developing.

Mix in Cedric Thornton, Jack Crawford, and David Irving, and there is an adequate rotation...but pressure still most become an active ingredient.

Third down effectiveness by the running game, and an over 70% - 3rd down completion rate by Dak Prescott, are very strongly projecting in the now!

Dez isn't a selfish d-bag but ok
He is just fashion challenged.
Instead of wearing a suit consistent with a millionaire, Dez was on the sidelines looking like a street corner dealer selling dime bags of chronic.
He might be a good WR, if healthy, but he just oozes low-liferism.

Mo needs to be franchised after this year if he keeps it up. No way I would give him long term guarantees after one season.

I think for some here, that no matter how good dak plays, it isnt as good as Tony.

I wonder what the defenses that have played against dak are saying or thinking of dak vs romo?
Today no dez, SF took away beasely with dbl cov, and loaded up to stop the run, but dak and dallas adjusted and dominated the game
from 2nd qtr to end.

Nope, this is still a fan base which has been totally dependent on Romo for 10 years providing out best hope to win. We'll have to wait on the future until we wheel Romo off the field for good.

You're in for both extreme disappointment and a rude awakening if you think there is ANY shot Romo sits on the bench when he is healthy. Does not matter if Dak wins out till Romos return, he is starting when he is available. And that is the way it should be.

I don't know if I agree with this. With our quarterback being the leader of the team/offense, if he's in a groove, I don't think you pull him.

Whether that's the way it should be or not, I can't help but doubt it's likely to be any other way. Well before Dak proceeded to replace Romo at QB, Jerry went out of his way to declare that Romo would return to action ASAP. He seems determined to make certain that the multi millions of his monetary investment is justified for the re-signing of Tony's contract. I believe it would surely take miraculous performances by Dak and a very convincing argument by Stephen to persuade Jerry to even think of reconsidering. Anyhow, we shall see what develops in due time.

Romo will have to play his way out of the lineup or knocked out.

We are excited about the future but back to reality after bye.

The team has played poor defenses in all three of the team's victories. Dak has played admirably for a rookie and has given hope and optimism for the future, but Tony still gives this team the best chance to win a Super Bowl when on the field and healthy. The guy seems to have to fight through not only injury adversity, a poorly run coaching staff and organization for the majority of his career as a starter, and a false diminution of his capabilities from certain media personalities and fans of other teams, but a strange lack of respect from the so-called fandom.

And, pray tell, what will happen after Romo comes back and has another multiple interception game?

I for one am thrilled with what Dak is doing and think he's clearly the QB of the future. But prior to his injuries, Tony was finally getting the credit he deserved, because he was one of the top quarterbacks in the league and was practically the offensive coordinator on the field as well. I want to see Tony unable to play like his old self before he loses his job. Dak has done everything you could ask of him, but it's going to take time for him to get to Romo's level. This is not a flaw with Dak, but the offense it's simply more dynamic with Tony in there.

Well put. For years when I would run into someone who claimed to be a Cowboys fan, they would act like we'd be winning Super Bowls if it weren't for that damn Romo. It was surprising to see it on message boards of generally more hardcore Cowboys fans. It was great the last 2-3 years finally hearing him get the respect he was due from the media. (One of the first to really recognize Tony's contributions was Trent Dilfer). I just don't know what others have seen over the last few years to not want a healthy Romo starting.

All this beating up of the defense... Again they played competently. The secondary is really coming on and they only gave up 3.7 ypc against the Niners.

Romo is the better QB and gives the Cowboys their best chance at winning.
Hate to dissapoint you all but Dak goes to the beach the day Romo is cleared to play.
I love Dak as much as anyone but this is Romo's team.

Feel exactly the same. From a football standpoint, the last time Romo was healthy for a season-- he was in the MVP conversation. I think Romo gives us the best chance to win in the playoffs.

However-- from a team chemistry standpoint-- if you don't put Tony in, you run the risk of dividing the lockeroom. Tony is a beloved player that has earned the respect of his teammates and coaches. Dak has already stated this is Romo's team, and so has JJ.

The only people antsy to make a change are some impatient fans and the media that is always stirring the pot and looking for controversy.

Romo should be the starter bc it is the best decision for the team on the field, in the lockeroom, and for the salary cap.
