My Thoughts On Escobar

You didn't watch closely enough. I wasn't impressed. They way he ran, turned to get into the end zone, the way he ran was awkward. All leading me to believe he is uncoordinated.

Yes, I'm sure your eyes are far more reliable than others. Oh, and you certainly watched more "closely." Give me a break.

So what physical attributes have you seen so far that makes you think he can be better then a ho hum type of player?

Honestly, its hard for me to get mad them drafting a big tight end with the best hands in his class. He catches the ball so effortlessly you can't help but imagine what he has the "possibility" of becoming...

Um, let's see...

How about the fact that he's a solid 6'6? Or that he was a top performer in the 3-cone and shuttle drills? Or that he has the best hands of any of the TEs in the draft?

But hey, he "looks uncoordinated" to that one guy, so I guess he's a bust.

Perhaps we should get a nice sample size to judge off, or just make premature evaluations.

Its been obvious to me that we've been "hiding" our TEs in preseason. Romo even said as much. Not only Escobar and Hanna but Witten has rarely been targeted.

But escobar has been everything the team expected when they drafted him. They have big plans for him

I think you're absolutely right. They've been throwing out the 3-Wides more than their "12" personnel and I think that might be on purpose.

I guess we'll see.

You're responding to the guy who started a thread saying if we don't win it this year, we are all doomed forever.

I think he is a wasted pick so far. he does not block well and so far I have not seen him go down field more then ten yards to catch a pass. what do I know. I hope he does something this year to justified his second round grade.

Yeah, scoring touchdowns is meaningless anyway.

Seriously.... people complaining about the speed and quickness of Escobar like they arent fans of Jason Witten. Yall are so confused.

Additionally, i dont mind choosing a TE in the second if they are serious about using a 2 TE formation a lot this season. My issue is the TE we chose. I dont believe we chose the best recieving tight end in the draft.

Who do you think was the best receiving TE selected after our 2nd round pick

Not forever just in the Romo and Garrett era.

If they shoot themselves in the foot and find ways to lose with this team then don't expect it to ever change.

So what we're complaining about here is how he LOOKS when he's scoring points and catching everything thrown to him?

Interesting. Now that you mention it I was a little pissed he didnt jump 15 feet in the air and backflip on his way in the endzone.

He doesn't look athletic, fast, can't block or stretch the field. We could have gotten the same production from Hannah or any number of FA and not wasted the pick.

Honestly, I stopped right there. Preseason = meaningless.

Yeah, we hear that a lot but unfortunately, quite a few of the issues that were recognized by some during the past previous preseasons did in fact carry over into the regular season.

Preseason isn't the regular season, but the we all have a habit of choosing what's important and what's not. If it's something positive then it's a good sign. Negative? Hey, it's just preseason!

Sorry, but your argument isn't going to be too compelling if you have to harp on how he "looks."

Scrub McScrub-pants. At least jumjp 12 feet!

He was a luxury pick, we had no hole at TE to merit this pick, much less a TE that needs developmental time. Its not like he's the second coming of Tonly Gonzalez, or a once in a lifetime TE type. The cowboys should have selected the best available OL/DL with that pick.
so your saying draft for need?
