Stainglass is closer to being the next Jacob Rogers than he is to being the next Jimmy Smith.

Who the heck sits out practice with a hammy injury when his job is very much on the line?

You're hurt? You practice. You're injured? You're injured.

Right now, he's hurt. He practices. The fact that he isn't is enough to think he should be cut for me.

"Potential is nothing. Performance is everything."

There are reasons to sit it. NEVER extend the injury purposefully. A grade I tear becomes a II or even a IV if ignored.

To others Stanback is not just fast but elite fast. And more importantly he is also a football player AND an elite athlete as well as speedster. This is the reason he's been kept despite the injuries and position change.

He'll be given every opportunity to make this team. In fact he'll have to be beaten out as well as stay injured to lose his spot on the team.

There will come a time when and if injuries do cost him a job here. We aren't there yet with a Grade I hamstring pull.

He may be fast, but if he can't take a hit, he is virtually worthless in the NFL.

Why can't we carry 6 WRs: That would be Williams, Crayton, Austin, Hurd, Stanback and Ogletree?

Everyone thinks that we can't because there are only 53 roster spots, and so carrying Buehler means you can only carry 5 WR. But there is one guy that we can cut to carry a 6th WR and that's Laudisauceur (sp?).

He's a top-notch snapper, but that's ALL he does. If Dallas can find someone else to adequately snap balls for kicks then you cut Laudisauceur and have a spot for the 6th WR spot.

i wouldnt cut Laudisauceur, you can get trade value in a draft pick for him, snappers are hard to find, are you forgetting it took us 2 years to find him and groom him for that job?
Say John Phillips or one of the linebakers can do the job and do it well, you still want a good backup, remember the steelers lost a ballgame due to snapper being hurt in a ball game last year.

and again, you should be able to get a good draft pick for Laudisauceur, now its not going to be a top 3 pick, but you should be able to get a 4th rounder for him, but i wouldnt trade him, not this year, we need our special teams to be good, losing a very good snapper could set this team back some.

I agree Cowboyjoe. It makes no sense to put all the emphasis on special teams and then get rid of one of your best/most consistent guys. Penny saved pound foolish...

Props to the post.

Although your wrong. He's a bum and will be cut. The experiment is over. Give me a WR who can stay healthy.

Will those who can predict the future please send me some winning lottery numbers.

If he continues to be injured then the situation will take care of itself. Until then you put the best player on the field or the bench as a backup/future starter.

It seems like everyone is always in a hurry to write the whole story.

"Romo can't win the big one." "Carpenter is a bust." "Bradie James can't play." "Felix Jones is an awful pick." On and on it goes...

I sort of feel like the story will write itself. Yeah, I might have some thoughts or opinions and even reasons for thinking the way I do. Everyone does.

But ultimately, this story is going to write itself. Stanback will either do fine, or he won't. All of these predictions aren't going to make it any more or less true. So I think everyone ought to sit back and relax for the next few weeks. It will sort itself out.

The Cowboys Brain Trust is slow to give up on draftees. On the other hand, UDFAs and street FAs get short shrift at cutdown time.

2007: We keep James Marten and Stanback. We cut Matt Moore and Jerheme Urban.

2008: We keep Stanback and cut Evan Oglesby.

2009: You wait ... a UDFA or fringe veteran or two or three that have looked really good in camp and preseason will be released at cutdown in favor of a few draftees that have done relatively nothing. We will all be surprised.

Jerry and Co. don't want to admit mistakes. What, Manuel Johnson and Mickens make the final cut? (we will exclaim), when they have done little to justify it.

I've been asking the same thing for years. Heck, I can't even get the Miss Cleos to volunteer a set of bad lottery numbers.: ;)

Is she still around? That brought a smile to my face. :)

PS: I'll pick up some lottery tickets and send them to you. I guarantee they will be bad.
