My excitement and confidence in sustaining through this tough stretch is at an all time high this morning!

We're looking at Cassell as our field general, CMike as the lead dog with Randle back where he belongs as a 3rd down change of pace, and most importantly Collins in there at LG! Wow! We may actually get back to the formula that made us successful last year. Eat clock. Run the ball. Eat clock. Run the ball. Pass for a 1st down. Boom boom boom. Demoralize.

CMike and Randle will probably get equal carries but that formula alone will drastically improve our running game. La'el's insertion and CMike's final chance will prove more important than having Cassell on the field. Cassell will just need to drive the bus which he has proven to do very well over the years.

There was one play against the Pats where Leary got bull rushed straight back into Weeden which culminated in a sack. At that point, I made a mental note that La'el needed to take over that spot.

Here we sit at 2-3. Let's forget any woulda coulda shouldas and just focus in the present/future possibilities. Before these changes were announced, I felt within my heart that we could be 4-6 getting Romo back.

Now I feel as though we could be sitting at 7-3 with a continued lock on an ugly division. Remember, we're 2-0 in the NFCE. Here's how the next 5 games may line up with our new prospects on the field.

Giants: W 3-3 (3-0 div)
Seahawks: W 4-3 (3-0 div)
Eagles: W 5-3 (4-0 div)
Bucs: W 6-3 (4-0 div)
Dolphins: W 7-3 (4-0 div)

If you think we lose any of those games following a huge Giants win, I would love to hear your reasoning. I believe we are lined up for a serious run. Major changes. Major injection of confidence AND let's not forget getting Gregory back. Him and Hardy are going to wreak havoc.

I felt this was important enough to make a thread specifically regarding our fan perspectives before and after this week's announcements hit the air waves. Things are looking up folks!

I think you absolutely aim for that and if it ends up 6-4 for even 5-5 we're set for a great stretch run.

However - this will never - ever - happen until we start creating some turnovers and get some short fields. We are the 3rd worst team in the league in takeaways and we've had our chances but drops, penalties and some plain bad luck (the Edelman fumble recovery) have killed us.

Start getting turnovers, let the defense carry us and get just a couple offensive TD's a game and nothing is out of reach.

I think finally having the combination of Randle and Hardy killing the pocket along with Lee & Ro shutting down the middle will all make our secondary suddenly look all world. Good things are coming to the defensive side of the ball.

im ecstatic to move on from the QB that has lost his last 11 starts? that says something. I do believe cassel wont tear it up but will move the ball just enough

He just has to drive the bus. I'm thinking our offensive line is going to get healthy and, with the insertion of La'el, get back to their nasty mauling ways after the bye.

how awesome would it be to find a way to win vs the giants after going 0-3? Cassel, Hardy, Gregory, Collins, Cmike hopefully lead this change.

With Hardy's and McClain's and Lee's return we have enough Defense to create some turnovers and win some games.

With Cassel, Michael and maybe Dez's return we have enough offense to get some first downs, eat some clock and win some games.

If you really think we will go undefeated with Matt Cassell...that means you really believe in Cassell. But I doubt the staff feels the way you do about him....else, he would have played before now.

Yeah well we're probably first in the league in ALMOST takeaways. I think with Hardy, and Gregory coming back, the takeaways will happen. No doubt in my mind.

I like your optimism and enthusiasm, but I need to see how Cassell plays before having 5-0 expectations for the coming games. I agree that there isn't a game amongst the five that aren't reasonably winnable, but they're only reasonably winnable with much better QB and RB play than we've seen of late. Got my fingers crossed.

I believe we will beat the Giants as well. Take it one at a time, but I'm just not that impressed with them. They beat a Buffalo team without their two top offensive weapons in Shady and Watkins. They beat San Francisco, which looks like it may be in contention for the #1 pick. Then Washington on a short week.

It's absolutely a winnable game. People forget Cassel was a starter early last year and got hurt. Not that he was lighting it up or anything, but at least he showed he was capable of winning the starting job over a very good young quarterback like Teddy Bridgewater.

Collins will be an upgrade over Leary because of the fact he won't be a liability. He can play with power and quickness and won't allow himself to get pushed back or get beat right off the ball like Leary has in recent weeks.

I agree with you about Christine Michael. As I said earlier he's got the closest skill set to Murray. He's a tough runner. More of a tough runner than McFadden and Randle. He easily picked up that first down against New England and never got the ball again which is inexcusable. He can get us those dirty yards as Garrett says that are missing right now. Instead of losing 2 or 3 yards he'll gain two or three and put us in more down and distance situations. Puts Randle in his role of last year. Puts McFadden either inactive or on the bench.

You hear about the news about Randy Gregory likely being back after the bye as many anticipated and my goodness. We already saw what he did in Week 1. He made life a living hell for Flowers. So quick off the ball, like Hardy has a great closing burst, very long and uses his hands real well, showed an array of different moves. Really excited to get this guy back and a defensive end rotation of him, Kraken, D-Law, and Mincey is amongst the best that there is.

I expect Rod to be all over those guys on those pick plays and I expect them to get that cleaned up and it won't be a problem going forward. Tackling needs to improve, but I think that has to do with getting worn down because of a lack of depth and also the offense being so pathetic.

Even if Dez doesn't play I like our chances. Brice Butler should be back and he at least gives us a legitimate deep threat. People keep talking about the wide recieving corps being abysmal, but they've been open a number of times and Weeden either missed them or was late. Cassel will hit them in stride. I firmly believe that. Won't just dump the ball to Michael or Randle if T-Will is open on a crossing route or a slant or Butler breaks free of press on a vertical route.

Also add into the fact that Cruz will likely still be out and Beckham Jr. and Randle are nursing hamstring injuries and we know those are typically two to three week injuries.

I feel strangely confident in us winning the Giants game.

We've beaten them 5 straight times, and 3 straight times in their house. We own them and they know it.

We'll be coming off of our bye, they'll be coming off of a short week (MNF at Philly).

Our D dominated their O in Week 1, and that was without Hardy, Gregory or McClain. Stop their mediocre run game and Eli will be hearing footsteps all afternoon.

We lost the turnover battle 3-0 in Week 1. For as big a downgrade as it is to go from Romo to Cassel, as long as we aren't -3 in turnover differential we shouldn't feel overly worried. This is a D that allowed Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers to decimate them.

All that being said, if Cassel is a complete stiff, we'll lose. If he's just "okay" or better, we win.

At the end of the day it's the same coaches, Dez and Romo are still hurt, defense is still gelling and we still haven't put together 4 solid quarters. My hope isn't dead but my optimism or confidence surely is.

I think we match up much better against these teams then the last 3 teams we played.

Giants - The revamped D against Eli.. Shane Vareen has been carrying them the last few weeks, they are slightly banged up and they will have physical game against the Eagles the week before

Seahawks - Their D is very solid still but Russell Wilson is going to get hurt before the end of the year with the way their oline is playing and the way Wilson holds the ball. This is like a 60 minute scramble drill, with some rub plays thrown in. This can be a 16-13 type of game.

Eagles - I think this one will be close as well, but their coverage schemes are very simple and Bradford won't be able to take the heat for 60 minutes.

Bucs - This is a must win if the team is a real contender

Dolphins - Hopefully the team has given up completely by this point and doesn't find it's defense - again no big match up issues and no premier QB

I think they can go 3-2 in this stretch, maybe even 4-1. I suspect the Eagles and Seahawks to give us the most problems with their big play potential and solid run defensive front 7.
