I'm still waiting to see if Jon McGraw and that other Chief who hit Romo in the head get fined.

The letter of the law is trying to pocket every penny they can get.... What a surprise.

All fine money goes to charity.

It was a justified penatly, and the fine is appropriate. Ball took a hard shot and led with his helmet for added impact. The replay shos it was premeditated based on his body movement. IT WAS STUPID because we had the third-down stop, but his STUPIDITY gave KC the ball back (not to mention, threatened possible, nedless injury to the opponent).

And the Cowboys' response to the infraction was IDIOTIC also, because they chose to complain about it and suggest it was a tic-tacky call. That's what's wrong with this staff; the right move would have been to call-out the player for this MENTALLY STUPID error. NO NEED TO LEAD WITH THE HELMET AND DRAW A NEEDLESS PENALTY! But no, not this staff; if someone does something STUPID, let's defend it at all costs.

You might want to rewatch it again :D Ball turned his body a bit and lead with the SHOULDER. The reason the helmets hit is because its a big object attached to your head. It's going to come in contact with other player's helmets on most tackles.

What ball should have done is leap, spin around, stick out his butt and use that to knock down the defender. No way he could get fined for that technique.

Unbelievable!

I can sort of understand the official throwing the flag if he didn't have a good angle to see what actually happened.

For the NFL to issue a fine after presumably watching the play from all available angles is despik, decspi, despick.... horrible!

That play should be used by the league to show the proper way to lay a hit on a receiver within the bounds of the rules. Ball had his head turned and was coming in low relative to the position of the receiver. What very little bit of helmet contact that did occur was after the initial hit and was a result of the receiver spinning around from the hit.

I can't believe that got a fine on top of what could have been a devastating penalty.

I saw that in the other thread but was hoping someone had the replay with a couple of angles.

Thanks.

It's A Bunch Of Crap! I'm Getting Sick Of Fines For Clean Hits--if A Receiver Ducks And Gets Hit With A Shoulder It Should Not Be A Fine. People Talk Like It's Intentional--the Game's Too Fast To Even Think About It.

I thought it was a great hit and a bad call. I'd like to see Ball play more, actually.

There you go. He had his shoulder out as far as possible and hit him in the middle of the chest like he has been tought to do for the past 20 years. Good hit and if that is a penalty, I feel that they should start wearing flags and shadow blocking.

I watched that replay at least 7 times, and it sure seemed like it was shoulder to shoulder IMO.

I never once saw a replay shown where Ball's helmet hit the WR's.

And there is NO WAY the official who actually threw the flag could have seen one way or another from where he was at.

That is a sissy fine. Where's the fine for the hit on Roy Williams? Far worse. He was clearly defenseless.

The NFL slapped Cowboys CB Alan Ball with a $5,000 for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Chiefs wide receiver Bobby Wade.

Ball told reporters in Irving today that he will appeal the fine.

I know I'm in the minority, but I thought the officials made the correct call. Ball's helmet hit Wade's facemask, which, of course, is part of the helmet. Following the letter of the law, it was the correct call.

Now, do I think it was a ticky-tack penalty? Of course. But again, following the letter of the law, it was the correct call.

I'm curious as to where you saw this at. Was there another view other than what we saw in the plays on Sunday? None of those showed anything that looked like helmet to helmet contact. His head rocked back, but that would be expected based on how he was hit and the fact that he clearly wasnt bracing himself against the hit.

It was a poor call, and a LATE call.

That is the biggest problem I had with the call. That play happened right in front of me. When the ref who was behind Ball threw that flag I almost lost it. He had no angle to see the play at all. Additionally he threw his flag well after the play was over. To throw a flag he had to assume it was a helmet to helmet hit after he thought about it for a few seconds. One of the other refs should have stepped in and said something.

I think that any call should be challenged, including all penalties. A bad penalty can ruin a game the same as a blown call on a close fumble fan. If the coach chooses to waste his red flag on a horrible ref call, he should be able to.

I think Ball played it clean....and correctly. He tried to separate the receiver and the ball with a solid clean hit and then he got screwed by a bad call. Wade should pay the fine and tell Ball to keep playing hard.

It's borderline so Ball shouldn't be surprised by the fine. Either way, it's poor technique. Aim just above the waist, get your arms out to wrap up, and drive through the target. I'm sick of this one shoulder olé bull**** that is so popular with this secondary.

What a crock, he hit the WR in the chest with his shoulder. The NFL is a joke sometimes.

sometimes? man its becoming more of a joke by the week

a good clean but hard hit and he gets a terrible call on the flag and a complete joke that he's fined for it

is there a quota the nfl has to meet for fines or something? this is getting ********
