IRVING - Reading between the lines, it sure sounded like it Monday when Williams was asked about Austin's 10-catch, 250-yard, two-touchdowns performance in the 26-20 overtime win at Kansas City.
Williams said he wasn't surprised Austin had a big day, considering that the Chiefs entered the game ranked 28th against the pass.
"I told (center) Andre (Gurode) before we left, 'Their secondary is going to struggle a little bit. As long as you guys can block them up front, there's no way a receiver shouldn't have over 150 yards,' " Williams said. "He kind of looked at me and laughed, but it was evident on film that they kind of struggle back there, and Miles had the game of his life."
Williams was asked whether he thought Austin had earned more playing time.
"The thing I say about any player in this league is consistency," Williams said. "You have to be consistent. That was the game of his life. He's going to cherish that forever. Everybody is going to remember it. That record is going to be hard to be broke. I'm shooting for it, but it's going to be hard to be broke. But you just have to be a consistent football player in this league."
Sounds like he's saying the Austin's performance might have been a fluke.
No matter what Williams thinks, Austin is going to get increased playing time. It's just a question of whether it will be at the expense of Williams or Crayton.

Roy Williams ribs weren't well enough for him to make the trip to Kansas City, but he expected a big game by a Cowboys receiver against the Chiefs.
Miles Austin delivered in record-breaking fashion, setting a new franchise standard with 250 yards on 10 catches, including Dallas' last two touchdowns in the overtime win over the 0-5 Chiefs.
"I told [center Andre Gurode] before we left that that secondary struggles," said Williams, who has 11 catches for 214 yards and one touchdown in four games. "If you guys can block them up front, there's no way a receiver shouldn't have over 150 yards.
"He looked at me and laughed. But it was evident that they kind of struggled back there, and Miles had the game of his life."
Well, at least Williams didn't risk aggravating his injured ribs by patting Austin on the back.
