Interesting, I watched the video and didn't get that vibe at all.

I imagine the headline is more of a suggestive perception than an actual reality.

If I'd simply posted Roy talks about KC game, I doubt the comments posted would've been made.

I actually heard the interview on DC.com prior to reading this thread and felt like he was trying to discredit Miles a bit by saying the KC secondary is weak. Regardless of how weak their secondary 250 yards was a big day and he came through under pressure when the team needed him.

I also felt like he was dismissive when asked if having AM on the field more would help open things up more for him.

And for the record I have any bias against RW11. I am still glad Jerry picked him up. I also dont think there is anything wrong with a little jealousy, most competitors are jealous people.

Orsborne has taken over for JFE as the most negative, rabble-rousing writer out there.

He's become completely pathetic.

What was bad about what he said? KC's secondary is weak and that somebody was gonna go off. Well somebody did. Austin. Had it been Crayton, would anybody be implying jealousy?

I also noted that the bit about it being the game of his life came at the end...and thought it was an honest opinion. Miles Austin had a great game, but he has to do it again. Can't be the moon for four games and then show a glimpse of the sun in one.

BTW, I wasn't implying you had a bias, but I do know there were a couple people in this thread who do have a natural bias against Roy...for a variety of reasons.

First of all, I do not think Roy was trying to downplay or dog Austin's performance. I think he was complimentary and acknowledged that the record is going to be very hard for anybody else to break now.

However, the way he said it makes it sound like he was a bit jealous. What Roy has to accept is that "perception is reality" and right now the perception of Roy is that he is a poor route runner and is a malcontent. Now that may not be true, but it doesnt matter because that is the perception alot of fans have right now.

Lets just face facts, the compensation we gave Detroit and the contract we gave Roy was for him to replace TO as the #1 receiver. That is how the trade was sold to the fans and that is the expectation of the fans. So far Roy has not played up to that level, that is just a fact.

So knowing that alot of fans are not happy with his performance so far, Roy should have never said anything at all that could be perceived as jealousy. Why??? Because perception is reality and Roy still has not learned that.

Already posted...

Woops sorry, didn't see it.

Just watched it, and it doesnt sound as bad as I thought, but the question was, "When Miles has an explosive game like that, how do you think that will help you guys moving foward as an offense?"

He didn't even really answer the question. Just said it's on tape, then threw the Chiefs secondary under the bus and said he told Dre someone should get 150yds, and then said Miles had the game of his life

He didn't give Miles much, if any credit for his performance.

Absolutely. I listened to his audio. "It's all about being consistent." Somebody tell "consistency" Roy was talking behind her back. God knows he hasn't seen consistency since he's worn the :star: . How could he form his mouth to minimize Miles' outstanding day.

Why should he care about Romo, Miles or the Cowboys - he already got his money and that's all he ever really cared about. You don't give players like that with big wallets and small hearts big signing bonuses.

Now due to his injury he doesn't even have to practice or play - life just keeps getting better and better for RW.

that question about when miles has an explosive game is one that's a hard one for Roy to answer because he hasn't had Austin had such a good game since he's been here.

Secondly the phrase game of his life is complimentary. And it was.

I can't believe some of the B.S. I'm reading... Roy Williams made those comments BEFORE the team left for K.C. Roy's obviously a bit disappointed that he couldn't play but by no means did I think he was jealous of Miles Austin.

Did you even listen to the rest of the video? He's very obviously a huge Cowboys fan and loves playing for the team.

Nothing says slacker like being peeved someone else outperformed you.

Either he's a slacker who doesn't care or a malcontent not getting enough balls thrown his way. Pick one. You can't have both.

All he wants is money and adoration - pity he has to play football to get it. If the balls don't come his way - no adoration. He could care less about his teammates or winning at this point of his career as he has already been paid. He just needs to make some plays to keep his name in the news.

Roy should stop speaking before someone reminds him that Austin in one game almost equaled Roys entire 14 game Cowboy career...

Roy just needs to be quiet. Barring that, when a reporter asks him if Austin deserves more playing time, he should just say that it's up to the coaches. Saying that Austin needs to be more consistent is too easily interpreted as condescension, for which RW has no room.

There is no upside to this interview for RW. He should watch Bull Durham a few times to pick up some throwaway phrases for use in interviews.

I thought this crap was over when TO left for Buffalo. The media is always trying to start friction where there isn't any. Is anything Roy saying wrong? You need to be consistent. Including himself btw. Does the Chiefs corners suck? What is Roy saying that is irking you guys so much?

It's not a healhty rivalry when the coaches don't play the better one to push the mediocre one.

...if by the better one you mean Miles Austin i would tell you to curb your enthusiasm just a little...the Chiefs are winless for a reason...not to diminish his prolific receiving day but better receivers than him can't duplicate such performances week-in week-out...he is inconsistent but the light seems to be coming on between his ears...

...give the lad more snaps and see how it goes...he's definitely earned it but once Williams is healthy he will return to #1...that leaves Crayton as the guy who'll be displaced for playing time...just the reality of the situation...

...take heart though...the cream always rises to the top regardless of the situation, a fact we can witness for ourselves with Tashard Choice...he's durable, effective and selfless...if Barber and Jones can't stay healthy, he could displace one of them over the long haul...sometimes this process just takes a little time...like Aikman/Walsh or Morton/Staubach...in the interim it's maddening to see talent going to waste but it takes time to build the trust of the coaches and learn your job on the offense...

...if Austin keeps producing he will make it harder and harder for Phillips/Garrett to keep him off the field...a near riot will breakout amongst the fan base...it's already started in earnest...just have to give it some time that's all...

...Rome was'nt built in a day...a cautionary tale sure, but one that applies quite well in this instance...Miles performance was legendary but it is consistency that will make his performance stand the test of time, especially in this "what have you done for me lately" forum...a shutout or poor outing against Atlanta and he'll be the biggest bust since Quincy Carter...

...Roy probably wishes he had a do over but reporters can twist an article in ways that would make Charles Manson proud...sometimes said twisting seems commensurate with the level of disdain displayed by the players during interviews...particularly after hideous games like the debacle in Denver...

I can;t believe the spin they are putting on this. Even more surprising is the fact that people are apparently (judging by responses) buying it.

Oh wait....no I'm not.

People like to be led to conclusions, whether they are foolish or not is of little consequence.

Seems as though about 6-7% of posts one this site are stupid and 90% of those come out of Canada.
