And Carter didn't say he was going to kill T.O.

He used a metaphor, a poor one, but it's a metaphor. No one with an ounce of common sense would think he was talking about killing T.O.

Please, stop trying to minimize what Imus said by comparing it to Carter's comment.

I don't care about Imus, I was just saying. All people say things they shouldn't say sometimes, or they regret later.

Carter said something stupid. I don't like Cater, so I naturally don't care what happens to him, if he gets fired over, who cares.

Unfortunately, you jumped into a conversation I was having with someone else.

I don't care whether you care about Imus or not. I'm saying that his comment and Carter's comment aren't the same in the only tangible way we can measure these things - by public reaction.

And behind the public reaction is a reason that makes Imus' comments more serious than Carter's.

I suspect only Cowboys fans are up in arms (pardon the pun, again) about Carter's comments enough to get him canned. I might be wrong, but even if I am, I don't see any organized push to get him fired.

There is no doubt that this is a true statement.

Anyone who took that statement literally has an agenda.......or no life.

or they could be holding the media to the same standards that the media holds everyone else to

So why did ESPN get rid of Rush Limbaugh for his McNabb comment. Do you honestly think they would have kept a guy like Limbaugh had he made the exact same comments as Chris Carter?

You are deluding yourself if you think they would have handled it the same.

His comments about McNabb were about race and alot of the media is still scared of anything that can be considered discrimination towards blacks, so they're always on their heels anytime someone pushes the limit. Carter just used a bad phrase to get his point across.

I think a bunch is being made out of nothing, in the first place, in regards to his wording. Who cares. it was obvious what he was talking about and that he wasn't talking about actually taking a gun out and shooting Owens.

Some people are just overly sensitive when it comes to things. There was nothing threatening about what he said unless you're a person who takes one sentence out of something and decides to show only that sentence, and none of the rest of the conversation around it.

the irony is this is what He does along with the rest of the espn to make TO out to be a bad guy. So whats good for the goose is good for the gander. IF he wants to make TO out to be a villain by taking partial comments, then so be it if he is punished for a partial comment.

I really don't care about what he said. He clearly didn't mean it literally and my point was I could care less about the subject altogether. Better things to do quite frankly.
