Neil Young - The Needle and the Damage Done

I thought that might be quick and easy. This one might be a bit tougher

Someone should call his parents, a sister or a brother
And they'll come to take him back home on a bus
But he'll always be a problem to his poor and puzzled mother
Yeah he'll always be another one of us

(Changing the theme)

One of these mornings
You're gonna rise, rise up singing
You're gonna spread your wings
Child, and take, take to the sky
Lord, the sky

The first line seems familiar, but the rest not so much.

It’s not the first verse, which I thought would be more of a giveaway if a person was familiar enough to have a chance. I’ll give it a few minutes and post the first verse if no one gets it.

The song itself may be a change in theme, but the singer fits right in with it.

Janis Joplin, Summertime.

An interesting tidbit is Janis was from Jimmy Johnson’s hometown, and they were about the same age. I assume they didn’t hang with the same crowd, but they may well have known each other.

Janis was a year ahead of Jimmy at Port Arthur High, but they actually had a history class together, and Jimmy used to mess with her a lot since she was different and he was a jock.
Reportedly both were very bright.

Thanks for the additional info. That is about how I would have guessed things would be if they knew each other.

Jimmy was the one with hair halfway down his back, a ratty goatee, and a tie dyed head band.

Actually, he had a burr, and was called “scar-head” for all the visible previous injuries.

Goin' to the city, got you on my mind,
Country sure is pretty, I'll leave it all behind,
This is my decision, I'm comin' home to stay this time.
