“If I can just get off of this LA freeway
Without gettin killed or caught”

Can’t remember the artist.

Ok — here’s some favorite lyrics:

“Drive west on Sunset to the sea,
Turn that jungle music down
Just until we’re out of town.
This is no one-night stand, it’s a real occasion;
Close your eyes and we’ll be there,
It’s everything they say,
The end of a perfect day,
Distant ships from across the bay.”

I think it should be “ Distant lights from across the bay.”

In early memory mission music
Was ringing 'round my nursery door.
I said take this child, Lord, from Tucson, Arizona,
Give her the wings to fly through harmony,
And she won't bother you no more.

Ok, adding more:

This is the story of how we begin to remember,
This is the powerful pulsing of love in the vein,
After the dream of falling and calling your name out,
These are the roots of rhythm
And the roots of rhythm remain.

Paul Simon! I can't remember the name of the song. Gotta look in my library. It's from the Graceland CD. Under African Skies!

The theme to Mr. Ed?

lol - yep. I admit to not knowing all the words myself, so I looked it up. The only ones I knew would have been a dead giveaway. But I made my weak Beverly Hillbillies joke above, and it got me thinking about TV theme songs, and Mr. Ed popped into my head. Any part of the Hillbillies theme song would have been too easy.

Ricky’s been kickin the gong,
Lickety-split, didn’t take too long,
A junkie’s sick, the monkey’s strong,
That’s what’s wrong.

Well I guess he’s been messin around downtown
So sad to see the boy losin ground,
Windin down behind closed doors
On all fours.
