Alright, quick exercise; name your starting three cornerbacks (LCB, RCB and slot).
Here's mine:
Awuzie
B. Jones
Lewis (slot)
Admittedly, mine are reliant on two beliefs: 1) Byron Jones can be developed into a reliable corner by Richard; and 2) J. Lewis is tailor-made to take over the slot duties from Scandrick.
What are your starting three?
They were actually really good with Awuzie/Lewis as the starters and Woods as the slot CB with Brown playing dime and rotating in for both Awuzie and Lewis for a few series per game.
The added bonus was having Woods (A Safety) up near the line against the run.
Brown was good once he was not the starter.
If Woods/Jones flip Safety/CB then then Lewis or Brown should play the slot CB position. Coaches often try to avoid having a young player play outside in base and then slot on Nickel because it can be an overload.
They also played a lot of 3 Safety sets in 2017 which makes it more difficult to predict exactly who does what this season.
I actually thought using Jones/Frazier at the same position with Jones vs Pass and Frazier vs Run worked out fairly well.
Does Woods compete at SS or FS or slot CB. I would want either Jones or Woods at FS over Heath.
Not including any new players that might be added (Derwin James...):
LCB Awuzie
RCB Lewis
Slot CB Brown
SS Woods
FS Jones
Frazier plays when it's an obvious run situation or when Jones covers the TE.
Dime Heath at FS, Jones is the extra CB.
Another possible lineup:
LCB Awuzie
RCB Jones
Slot CB Lewis
SS Frazier
FS Woods
Dime Brown
3rd possibility:
LCB Awuzie
RCB Jones
Slot CB Lewis
SS Woods
FS Heath
Dime Brown
