I suspect there is more of a market than you think
And I’m not a Dak lover
It’s just the lack of options teams have that keeps avg QB’s as starters and gets them paid huge money
Goff licked the backside of a bull’s scrotum before McVay and his scheme came on board.

Hope we wait on any extension until we can see what a scheme that is built for Dak and not Romo can do for a season.

He improved every season throughout college. Statistically too. Too many are convinced he is what he is with 100% certainty. Compare Prescott's 3 seasons to any QB's first 3 seasons. Ask yourself, were you all in on the notion that they "were what they were?"
Not to mention the caliber of coaching in the NFL compared to college and the talent pool is night and day.
I am all in on one premise and so far that has been true of Prescott. I watched him his last two seasons at Miss St and particularly against the better SEC D's and what they would attempt to do with him. They did exactly what the Giants did in his two rookie season games against them, force the game on his arm.

G, when I see a QB solve the accuracy issue from college to the NFL, I will re-think this but I have yet to see it. It has nothing to do with coaching, it's all ingrained and instinct and cannot be fixed. They tried with Tebow his entire career. Kosar mentioned how many coaches tried to change him to an orthodox passer only to finally give up. He could do that in practice but come game time, it was all instinct.

Prescott is the ultimate tease because he can make every throw, we've all seen that. But we've all seen him miss those as well and most of those, NFL QB's can do in their sleep. It's all about consistency and he's just not there. Not saying he can't get there but I've yet to see any QB fix that problem because once the DC's know it's there, they salt the wound as much as they can.

What leverage would Dak Prescott have? Who the hell but the Cowboys is going to sign him to a significant long term deal? They will be negotiating against themselves. There is no market. That front office is the only one who believes he can play.
I think he is in the middle - considering he was a fourth rounder and intended only as a backup. They could add incentives into his contract, say $10 mil as a base. His agent knows he isn't worth $20 million, but can argue that he has won the NFC East two of three years, has three straight winning seasons, and has won 31 or 32 of 48 games, depending on the Giants' game, and has not missed games due to injury. Of course, if he takes us to the NFCCG or wins it, he will consider all bets to be off.
It's obvious, at the very least, that the FO has no other choice right now except to support Dak, considering that Rush and White didn't pan out. Whether they believe in Prescott or not, it makes no sense to bad mouth him in public, which would undermine team chemistry and confidence.
Even more interesting is that some of the statements made by receivers during the 3-5 stretch of the season didn't gain momentum and create bigger problems.
Early on, they pursued Earl Thomas and then Amari Cooper without any serious consideration toward a QB, (that we know of.)

Put Philip Rivers with this roster, and it would be the clear favorite to win the Super Bowl.

As is, it's the worst team in the playoffs.

Terrific roster, terrible quarterback

Bad combination.
Ya...put a hall of famer in his 12th year and they go to the super bowl. novel concept.

*if he survived the beating he would take.

how is Rivers a HOF qb all of the sudden and Romo is not? They have had very similar careers, and Rivers also has about the same playoff success.

look up a few posts, I just went over it.
Incomplete list

WAS, NYG, TB, MIN, ARI, NE, MIA, PITT, CIN, JAX, OAK, LAC, DEN would be interested

Big Ben, Rivers, ARod, Brady, Brees, Eli aren't playing much longer and Dak is 25

What are you talking about - it was his rookie year and he played 7 games.

This Goff sucked stuff until McVay is so overblown!

Different measuring stick if you are not a Cowboy.

Matt Ryan is the #3 rated QB; 4546 yards, 33 TD's and only 6 INT's. His QB rating is 108.5. Aaron Rodgers is #5 in yards and has 25 TD's to 2 INT's.

Atlanta is 27th in defense; Dallas is #6. Let's not kid ourselves why some teams are sitting at home this year. If we're going to base Dak's salary on things besides his own statistical contributions, then you can do the same for every player on the team. Hey, we made the playoffs so Baesley should get paid!!
In other words, a QB can't carry a team. Thanks for making my point. Appreciate you!

Nate says he’s a 13-15 mil QB
That’s probably right but that’s not the market
Avg QB’s are gonna get 20 mil or more and that’s just what the market is
QB’s are not paid in tiers where an avg guy get a percentage less than a elite guy. Maybe they should but till something is changed in the CBA to limit what any one player can get the QB is gonna get over paid. Agents love it but the other players shouldn’t because an avg LB or CB is gonna end up getting less in the long run
But the market is the market and Dak is gonna get more than he should just like cousins did and most others do
There are so few elite QB’s and teams know it’s impossible to win in today’s game without atleast an avg QB

If the market is inflated and suggests you pay more than the true value of a commodity, you pass on that commodity and find an alternative.

So you think that those teams are gonna drop either a HOF qb, or the young qb they drafted to lead the franchise for Dak Prescott? Vikes JUST signed cousins, sorry, no way they take the cap hit to drop cousins and then sign Dak for 25 million. You see Dak going to a team to be a back up? So I guess you think Rivers is gonna get cut for Dak, or Ben, or Brady? Skins also just signed Alex Smith, and you see them cutting smith to take the cap hit to sign Dak? Oak just traded away Cooper and Mack so they can build for when they get to Vegas.... the Raiders in now way would sign a QB like Dak to put on a team void of stars where Dak would get destroyed. Gruden wants a STAR qb, Dak doesnt fill that void.
Den has Keenum on a 2 year deal, and Elway refused to pay an avg qb, instead geting someone like Keenum.... again, no way would elway bring in a DECENT qb and pay 100 million.

I gave you who I think would be question marks, but again, I see Giants drafting a qb next year, not trying to get a middle qb like Dak and paying bucks to. Remember, Dak is not gonna leave Dallas to get about the same money as he knows endorsements would ry up, so for Dak to leave Dallas, he would need to be making 3-5 million MORE per season than he would in Dallas.

Sorry, I disagree with your analysis.

Dak is under contract with us next year so we are talking about 2020 at the earliest

All those teams will be interested big time

And that is before injuries........ oh yeah I forgot to add DAL

Mike White and Cooper Rush suck

Maybe we can sign that great quarterback the Eagles have after the season .. you know .. Foles :D
:muttley: I wouldn't take Foles now just like I wouldn't after he won the Super Bowl. Prima dona personality. Would cave in at the worst possible time.

Similar...except rivers answered the bell every game .

211 career games and counting for PR to Romo's 156.

Also..Rivers has twice thr playoff wins, 373 tds to 248, over 20,000 more passing yards.

He was an 8 time pro bowler and counting to Romo's 4.

Not a guarantee but he has a strong chance to be a HOFer to me.

Another team would definitely pick up Dak's option, pay him, and let him play to his strengths and not some archaic play book leftover from the Ice Bowl. He gets on my nerves just as much as Romo did, but for different reasons. Being a Dallas Cowboy QB in this era is hell.
