Nate Thomas got exposed

Well Thomas reportedly couldn't beat Steele out this year (in the open competition announced by Schottenheimer)...which is understandable given his preparation. Next off-season will be pivotal both for Thomas AND the team as it pertains to potential cap savings (post June 1 cut).
They are probably cutting Steele either way. He makes too much money for a below average starting RT. They could probably get the same from Thomas or Cornelius

As a pretty big Guyton critic I would agree with most of this. Hes certainly shown improvement over his last few games and does seem to be trending in the right direction.

The issue I have with Guyton is that we are about to wrap up season 2 for him and the best we can say is that hes flashed the ability to be average at times. The overall poor play combined with what has started to become a fairly consistent issue with him missing time would keep me from just penciling him in as a starter in 2026. I wouldn't hesitate to invest in a legitimate swing tackle that could push someone like Guyton in camp for his spot.

I'd love to see Guyton step up and take his game to the next level, but this offense is too good right now to be slowed down by another season of bad tackle play from both spots. I get that measurables are going to buy players more time in this league and Guyton certainly has those, but this team is shaping up to potentially be really good next year. We should be hedging our bets a little bit at the Tackle spots instead of being all in on the development of Guyton & Thomas.
This aligns with my thinking.

There's no more time to waste on development to achieve a league average ceiling at best.

How important the powers that be think their left tackle performance is at already will show itself at draft time and free agency.

I hope at the bare minimum they get a vet free agent, "better" than an Edoga jag.

I prefer both that AND a high draft pick.

He’s a 7th round rookie. Hard for me to say he got exposed he’s just what he is. The replacing Guyton garbage hopefully is seized.
Yeah, it was bad….i was wanting to see what he had, that play he was looking inside and just let the end run right by him for a sack…i was like “*** are you looking at dude?!” Bad showing, cooked by an average DE. And of course Steele was his usual garbage self. Dude is a turnstile in pass blocking. That position needs big for for next season, along with like half our D.

Or is it that he had to go play after play after play against one of the best pass rushers in the league?

Do people really think Guyton wouldn't give up multiple sacks and pressures going 20 or 30 obvious passing snaps against Hutchinson? We were so far behind, they didn't have to worry about the run at all.
He was getting beat by Muhammad though.

Every one of these guys should be cut.
Yes, cut Revel, a third round rookie that has not played competitive football since September 2024 due to injury and has appeared in just four NFL contests to date.

Because he had one bad game.

Do people even hear themselves?

Slow feet. Just not quick enough for OLT. He got exposed big time last night.

Now don't get me wrong, I like him and think he's going to be a good player, just not a left tackle type. Not his fault, doesn't have the skillset. He got beat very badly last night.
He seems like a great back-up type to have on the roster...

He can play really well and keep you afloat for a half or a quarter if someone gets nicked up but, right now, might get exposed some in longer service. He is young and the experience will hopefully help him develop.

For some reason, it took Detroit ~3 quarters to figure out how bad Thomas was. If they'd put Hutchinson at the RDE from the start of the game, he might've had 5 sacks.

There are no words for how awful Thomas was. He wasn't good against Hutchinson, but he also wasn't good against Muhammed or that other DE they lined up over him. He has no excuse.
