One of more interesting draft in recent drafts in recent years. Very deep draft with some storylines to it. Markelle Fultz has become the consensus top player, and its not a given the Celtics keep that pick ( as a fan I seriously hope they do). Behind him there 3 to 4 players who show the ability to be elite cornerstones for a franchise. And behind you have a draft that could see late lottery picks develope into all stars.

Here are some of the things Ive been hearing.

-Celtics appear to be set on Fultz at #1. This can change as the draft gets closer and offers start coming , but Fultz to Boston appears set.

- Alot of reports that the Lakers arent that high on Ball. And not nessesarily because of his dad, but because they arent sold in him as a "star player". It's going to be very intersting to see where they go at #2. If they dont like Ball, my best guess would be Jackson. But De'aaron Fox has been moving up some boards as well. @PJTHEDOORS @ABQCOWBOY , chime in

- Im hearing that the 76ers and Kings could swap picks, with Jalil Okofor involved somehow. With Fox being the Kings guy and Monk being the 76ers guy. Monk would be a great fit with Simmons IMO @Risen Star

- For you Mavs fans, I think you have a great chance to get a future star. Much better chance at 9 then most years. In fact, I think you guys could leave the drafted with a better prospect then Jaylen Brown, whom we took 3rd last year. You are just at the mercy of the draft. Smith, Markkenen and Ntilikina seem the be the names thrown out the most. Potential wise I think Smith could eventually wind up one of the 4 best players in this draft. I dont know enough about Mavs ball to know how he fits @jterrell

Be interesting to see what happens with Ball if the Lakers do pass. With Simmons, I dont think he is such a great fit for Philadelphia. Sacramento would such a hilarious gut punch for Lavar, but they might be zeroed in on Fox if they do move up. I can see him going #4 to Phoenix.

For all the hype I can understand why some teams are skiddish. He could have a very hard time getting his shot off off the dribble in the pro's and that could really his half court game in the pros. And are you ever going to get him to care enough about defense. Even of you do, smaller quicker guards could be an issue. I think he may be best on an up tempo team. I think he will be a great transition PG in the NBA. I think he is a top 5 in any draft, but is he really #2 in a strong draft?

I think that was from some guys twitter. Emplay (and he posts on Lakersground forum), covers the Lakers and has access to them via media, says that his tweet is untrue. I have heard Magic is very high on him. Even said he sees himself (or style of play) in Ball.

Im torn in Ball as a prospect. I think he has some traits that could make him elite. But he also has some questions that could hinder him in the pro's. He could be another Kidd or Nash, but he could also be another Rubio

Ya, as for Ball's shooting form. The way I look at it, if a guy like Shawn Marion, who basically shot from the front of his chin, can get a shot off, then I think Ball can being he's 6-6 and will be one of the taller pg's in the league. And he is very good creating separation with a stepback shot.

And before I get hammered for a Rubio. Yes he can shoot much better then Rubio. But that shot may make it more difficult for him to pull up in the pro's and could really hurt him in the half court. He has to find a way to make that shot work

I downloaded a ton of UCLA game highlights. I love the way he's always pushing the ball upcourt. And he can attack the basket with either hand. He shot 55% overall. And 41% from 3. I have read his midrange game needs work, 'cause he rarely took that shot. But he is a great passer. Much better than what I saw from D'Angelo Russell coming out of college when he was praised for his passing. We all know Kidd couldn't shoot. Career 40% fg and 35% 3pt fg. I think Ball will be better than that. More than anything, I love Ball's energy and ability to make others better. Exactly what the Lakers need.

Ball and that crew irritate me somewhat.
It would ironic, since Ball claims they'll hold out if its not LA. Prima donnas:rolleyes:

But I can't see any scenario where he doesn't go in the top two.
If the Lakers don't want him, it wouldn't surprise me if the could get two 1sts for that 2nd spot.

If anything I feel bad for the kid. I dont want to judge him based on his fathers antics. I almost think Sacramento could be good for him. Stay out of the limelight at the beginning of your career, let your fathers grand schemes die, then sign with a big market team when you hit FA

That might be tough but a great buy for LA if they could get unprotected picks in 2018 and 2019. 2018 is supposed to be similar to this draft and 2019 has two potential generational talents in Marvin Bagley and Zion Williamson

What picks would the Sixers/Kings swap? They have already swapped picks from a previous draft day trade. The Sixers are picking 3rd after they swapped picks with the Kings who originally were pickkng 3rd and now are picking 5th.

for you Mavs fans, dont be surprised if you pick Markkenen
he is close clone to Nowitzky.
he is great shooter and 7 ft tall. and from finland
he lost his confidence second half of the season but the talent is there.

Ive heard two things about that. It could be 3 and Okafor for 5 and McLemore and Ive heard 3 for 5 and 10. I dont think the first one is good value at all for the 76ers. I know Okafor isnt a fit, but that selling very low

Ok. Thank you. If I were the Sixers I would trade back and go with trade of 3 for 5 and 10. I don't what the trade chart show if NBA teams even use them. Thank you for the info.

I think 5 still gets you Monk, who is such a perfect fit for what they need. 10 in this draft could still land a a potential future All Star

Well, Harold before the draft was once called the next Jordan, and was named Baby Jordan in college. So much for that comparison. Only lasted 4 seasons in the NBA. Last 2 seasons, played 45 games, and then 19 games. 9 ppg for his short career. If this guy is a clone of Nowitzki, he should be top 2, or #1.

Mavs: Sitting at 9 you kinda take whomever is left.
Agree on the depth being really really good this year.

My preference of course would be Fox but he's risen to top 5 for sure now.
After Fox, the guy I want most is Dennis Smith Jr.
He's an all-around scorer and lead guard.
Has to lock in on defense and show he can run a complex offense.
But in NBA picknroll sets he will eat.

The French PG may be hands on most likely to be there and I think he will be a solid starter and perhaps better than most as a rookie but not sure he has the All-Pro upside of some of the other guys.

Dirk has nearly unparalleled work ethic for a 7 footer.
He and Kobe and KD didn't get to be Champions and MVP guys based purely on talent.
If this Lauri kid is a total gym rat then he'd appeal to me but I need a guy that will LIVE basketball.
They paid Chandler Parsons and that dude used to come in after Dirk and leave before him... that's why the Mavs didn't offer him a deal when he went to Memphis and robbed them.

i agree with yall on Markkenen
there are no guarantees in a draft
if he hadnt hit the wall, the wildcats would have made the final four and Markkenen would have been a top 3
i know he works hard and tried to practice his way out his slump, but not sure how he compares to the greats in work ethic.
just a heads up if the Mavs pick him, i wouldnt be surprised. he "looks" the part
