NBA Draft

There is a lack of big in bulk/height guys. I guess Eddy Curry, possibly Bynum down the road, but there just are not those types anymore. Even Oden...when he fills out he will not be a bruiser type.

Eddy Curry - ugh. This year his rebounds finally went up and he still only averaged about 7 or so a game. Yuck. Terrible rebounder for his size.

There never has been a glut of those "Shaq" types. Ewing, Hakeem, Shaq, Mourning (pre-kidney transplant), Webber (pre-knee injury), Duncan, Robinson - those are the only dominant big men since the early 1990s. I probably left a few off, but still, you can count them on two hands.

The rule changes favor athletic over slow, so I agree that they no longer just plug in the average slow-footed big man into the lineup. Teams like Golden State and the Suns who lack a dominant center type can be very competitive just throwing out their best five guys onto the court (this is not a bad thing for the sport, IMO). But Duncan made the adjustment very well from the "old" style NBA to the faster-paced style these past couple of seasons, and I think you'll see that a good, dominant big man can still be very effective if they have the athleticism.

Dwight Howard in Orlando should be good for a while.

Howard is a stud. They came out here to Vegas last summer for Team USA tune ups and he was awesome to watch...dominated the boards.

Carmelo was the best player on the court BTW.

not getting excited about who the Spurs could potentially draft, as it will probably be some Euro-league players who will stay overseas for a couple of years

I keep hearing a PG for them...Zabian Dowdell from Va Tech is getting some speculation to the Spurs.

Look around the league...it is going leaner and more athletic. Bulky guys like Shaq and Ben Wallace are not the norm anymore.

If the Griz pass on Brewer or Conley to take Noah you have every right to throw a tantrum.

Brewer is a great player but the Griz already have a couple of players just like him. Now if we trade one or two of them I'm all for it.

But that's only if Horford is gone

Stupid Atlanta. If they would have gotten the 4th pick it would have went to PHX. I hate this "top three protected" crap.

What the heck are the Celtics thinking? Its sad how pathetic that once proud franchise has become.

For the record the lottery system is a joke.

Paul Pierce wants some veteran help...

My Griz not only lost out on Oden but also lost out on Horford. The two players we needed the most. I like Conley but we need a big man and Noah isn't it.

Noah has never impressed me. He will be the exact player that Varejao is for the Cavs; a high energy center.

He's never impressed me either.

OMG i love it!!!! Red is turning in his grave. West,Wally and 5 for a ageing swingman??? They'll win 35 games at most. My God what a bad trade.

i think thats a good trade for the celts. In the east, with those two and al jefferson, they will have a chance to make the playoffs and maybe get to the second round

well i think in the long run it helps the sonics out more, but in the short run youll see that the Cs will be vastly improved next year. The east sucks, they will make the playoffs or at worst compete for a spot late into the season.

by the way the spurs have the best looking logo in the nba, it looked so GANGSTA up there!!

I am pretty happy with the Bulls draft. Overall, it went about as what I'd expect. JamesOn Curry was made a promise by the Bulls before the draft (and anyone with a clue already knew we were taking him)....so that was expected.

Noah is a PaxSkiles type player and was what I wanted at 9 (once Wright went 8 and Yi went 6). Glad we stayed away from Hawes.

And adding Gray in round 2 was a very nice pickup as well.

Overall, I can't complain.

I would have liked to see us try and buy a pick from Phx to get Splitter...but them's the breaks...

Also, I know Portland and Seattle were expected to come away with good drafts...

But both went ABOVE and BEYOND what was expected. Portland is quickly becoming a very well run franchise. They have great assets on the team - and young.

Seattle fleeced Ainge. What a nimwit. I know his hands were tied, but Allen? Durant and Jeff Green are going to be a helluva F tandem. That is going to be an exciting team to watch.
