"...And don't just put in it the greatest players or the greatest coaches. Put in the ones who make the greatest contribution to the franchise and help build and are cornerstones of the franchise."

Tex Schramm's direct quote to Jerry.
https://cowboyszone.com/threads/jer...the-ring-of-honor.512340/page-3#post-12835578
And Jerry put Charles Haley in, a Cowboy for Five seasons, a 49er for eight.

Haley was inducted in the San Fransisco 49ers Hall of Fame. He spent more than half his career trying to destroy the franchise, not contribute.

And you really believe that Jerry cared what Tex had to say about it?

Any of you setting the story straight better look at a corporate enforceable elements of law if there is actual considered recourse to comply with their own made up version of sanctioned rewards. A stadium promoted 'reward' belongs to the owner of that stadium/franchise. That is sanctioned by laws, not private appointed movement makers.

Jerry has stated that as to his decision, he has buried the hatchet as to blame that belongs in the past. That is honorable, but when and where is purely Jerrys, in the choosing of when that goes down. If under guise of being a fan one feels that he is above the principals of business, even if a sporting controlled governmental entity, had best find his place in schemes of things. Either that or get up well over a Billion Dollars and tempt Jerry and his family to sell the family business.

Jerry has also given to the City of Dallas, the NFL, and many years to the Salvation Army...I just don't think he is concerned about what others may claim as 'their' rights instead.

No matter how many degrading insults one throws towards Jerry or another fan...SO? Force the sale and justify yourself instead...nothing is involved that matters to what is valid. Not even pride and integrity of the Jones family, huh?

Jimmy left the Cowboys in 1994, yet some of you think the 21st Century is a time for a religious Crusade. I hardly think this vindcates a tip to the Vatican to excommunicate Jerry Jones.

That takes it back to a Hill Billy status once again...that isn't smart for any of the actual truths. Jimmy earned his firing and responsibility for how the team was changed from his part of the deals. He received in full contractual benefiting from the hiring and contractual obligations.
LOL. A lot of words that doesn’t change the fact Jerry is being petty here. It bothers him that Johnson gets more credit for those SBs than him. So rewarding Johnson with the Ring of Honor is a non-starter because in Jerry’s eyes he’d be validating the belief Jimmy was the driving force of those SBs.

Chris Simms says the most relevant thing in that entire five-minute embedded video at the 1:37 mark:

That is something this decades long disgruntlement needs from the single individual making Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor decisions: truth.
I would disagree with that stance, but at least I could respect him actually giving one.

You own your company and your manager bad mouths you to everyone you know from the press to the janitor. He does this for over a year.

You going to keep him? You going to honor him at a later date?
After he built a dynasty and gave the owner every opportunity to crap the bed for 30 years with 3 trophies to fall back on. Cause he would’ve been chased out of town without those championships long before the new stadium. When the coach signs a contract and the owner tries to change it midstream, that’s a problem and it was the beginning of the end for this team. But you’re right.. poor Jerry!

Jerry got him on continual medications and constant analysis to succeed and last through that sequenced events. He learned pride and wanted to return that to San Francisco...who had been respectable as well. Even through changes themselves.

The turning point for Haley came when Jimmy led him into the restroom, flushed the toilet, and yelled, "That will be your career!".

I have nothing against Haley. Jerry putting him into the ROH was absolutely inappropriate and the reason he did it was because it was the next best thing to putting himself in the ring.

Haley in but not Harvey Martin? Please!!!

I can name a dozen Cowboys that were more deserving.

Oh you walked with the journey of Martin as did Jerry, right?

Martin retired in 1983 after refusing to take a Cowboys ordered drug test and during a feud with the team in which he claimed he was being forced to play injured. Martin later admitted in a 1986 autobiography that he did indeed have a cocaine addiction at the time.[8]

Yes, please do explain the facts...get a clue on Jerry sticking to the good of those under him and walking tons of extra miles for dignity sake.

What should be considered is that opinion, while true, is a realization Jerry Jones could not care less about. A personality like Jones only cares about its own opinion of what is proper or not. Everyone else's opinion is worthless.
Couldn’t agree more.

Did you just use "dignity" in the same sentence with Jerry Jones?

There are several images on the internet that demonstrates Jerry's "dignity".

Are you saying that Martin was less of an iconic contributor to this team because his lifestyle wasn't the better choices?

Bob Hayes.....Michael Irvin......in the ROH. Let's not succumb to the hypocrisy.

Go ahead and highlight the use of cocaine again under Tom Landry again for us all....and bypass committments trying to overcome some or the player needs coming through those social times in sports as well. Gung ho on the respects part of your view.

Yea, a real human dignity and he kept the dynasty team together through the chaos as well...oh, you say walk on water Jimmy Johnson did all the work behind the scenes in a world class medical group and equipment, huh? What was the level of other teams? What did San Francisco do for Haley before they tried to sweep him under their rug and sold him to Dallas...yea, skim yet another topic and settle on nothing more than Jimmy 'glory' instead.

Jerry did enough for Jimmy that he elevated even him to top of the line glory...who tried to force his own way into being a GM and even Miami wouldn't bite. Saint Jimmy tried to become a GM the week of the 1993 Super Bowl...and was trying to punch his own ticket that for 'some' reason didn't work else where as well.

Squeek on up some now...

It's not hard to understand the cowboys won 3 super bowls with Jimmys team and slowly died since he left. Believe it or not but our last best, real chance and closest we have gotten to winning was in 06 when we had a real HC who held the reins. Outside of that it has been an absolute circus around here.
Had the W in the bag until The Choker with butterfingers had to ruin it.
